Jack, I consider AllMynotes to be better give me more utility keeping track of things that happen online and can change so it's invaluable to have an offline record of what happened and when, when big companies (e.g. british gas) change things without my consent.

Your first point is the reason I don't use Allasoft 3.25 anymore. I bought Ant Downloadmanager instead.

TK, the file yt-dlp_x86.exe in the installation folder that is the latest build of the fork of youtube_dl public domain project does not run under Vista or earlier so if it is necessary for youtube downloading it will not function under versions of windows prior to windows 7. The older youtube-dl.exe also included does run under earlier versions of windows though unsure if it really will run under Windows 2000! When I try to download a video under vista in 3.26 just installed and activated after playing it NOT logged in in the browser under windows 10 Allavsoft 3.26 prompted me for login credentials! Like I'm giving them that through a downloader when it's not required in a browser! Downloads fine in Allavsoft 3.26 under windows 10. So I was right under Vista and earlier youtube download IS broken for at least some video's I shall try older version of yt-dlp_x86 that does run under Vista if I get results worth reporting IMHO, I will post a further reply.

TK, ok, previous version of yt-dlp_x86.exe last modified date 3rd Feb 2023 from previous giveaway runs under Vista OK and permits video from youtube that prompted for login credentials to download without error, latest update from the update server of the yt-dlp_x86.exe fork repository has become Windows 7 and above ONLY, the Allavsoft developer needs to do their own fork of the yt-dlp.x86 project and strip out the windows 7 dependencies like they did with the copy of FFMPEG.EXE in the record subfolder OR revert the yt-dlp_x86.exe back to it's previous COMPATIBLE build until it is necessary to upgrade through something breaking and not just because it's the latest build . I used shadowexplorer to get back the previous version from the 3.25 giveaway install.

Johan, very true, it should parse the setting to require audio only from conver to mp3 and then only select the m4a audio file, download just that and convert if alone.

Noticed It, Step 3 LOGIN! You have to provide login credentials for spotify server to even consider letting Allavsoft see the song or playlist, which is a RISK since you can guarantee that Allavsoft download session are not identical to the spotify clients session data and could result in loss of account under their terms & conditions for using unapproved listing software or downloading and blocking adverts on ad supported service which does not permit offline listening.

What number of sites are you visiting? Apparently only a few favorite sites. If Free Jdownloader fails I have never had Allavsoft succeed(I always download these types of software in the hope that one will ). So I for one would regret paying for anything that could be free to do an equivalent if not better job with steady updates. (Needed with this kind of software)because some websites are always adjusting to stop downloads.

Allasoft is for direct downloads from websites, Frostwire is a filesharing client.

Stuart Bannen, the reason your comment is not being marked as useful is you are not comparing a like for like program. Frostwire is a file Sharing program NOT a file downloader, you cannot download from web services directly with Frostwire or ANY dedicated bittorrent program.
