Installed and runs fine, Windows 7/64. Looks like I did get the full version (stand-alone only). If you get the trial, try going back to the readme to see if there's something you missed.
I have no experience with this kind of program (though I do have experience with design and photography) and I produced a couple of striking designs in short order, say ~30 minutes, using the templates and playing with the various controls. There's also a *lot* to learn if you want to get into it but it should be easy enough to start for newbies if you have a little patience. Don't be intimidated by the complex, technical-looking controls - just play with them. The help file appears to be quite thorough. There are lots of templates (100 or more at a guess) and each one is almost infinitely variable.
I don't like the dark design (light grey text on dark grey background doesn't make sense to me) and can't find a way to change it. Very hard to read, but it's a little better in full screen mode.
Bottom line - it's a keeper for me. Thanks GOTD and Abstract Curves.

Before I went to bed this afternoon ... I re-installed this and installed the photoshop plugins as I had installed the freebie old CS2 build since I last installed this and had a further play.. I was able to define a complex custom gradient in PS CS2 and have that as the background layer, then add a layer to the image and use the AbstractCurves Filter to launch the program and create an abstract curve pattern and return to photoshop with that curve layer within PS CS2 and then add another layer and go create a different abstractcurve using different settings and colours and then go back to PS CS2 now with two different abstract curves as different layers that can be further customised by blend method etc and had some fun... Obviously I could add any other element I liked too and any number of additional abstractcurve layers... I guess that is the reason the developers figured why add extra functionality for backgrounds when this is really designed to be used as an addon to photshop plugin compatible graphics host programs. It will also register as a plugin in Irfanview but the end results will not be as good as using it with a full multi-layer capable program like PhotoShop or Corels version of Paint Shop Pro. No real complaints with this even with the lack of development... if it isn't broke and does what the makers wants why fiddle with it just to keep people that think programs need to be continually updated because they are still and always will be work in progress and always have bugs... it's not true a properly written and designed program will have design paramiters and once they are met unless you desire to force new sales by redesigning the GUI or adding some whiz bang new feature there is no reason to invest further dev work if it just works!
Hopefully some of the previous poor giveaway contributors that have been offereing time limited trial licenses rather than giveeaway rules limited but non-expiring commerical licenses are looking at their competing giveaways like this and seeing how it should be done... simple giveaway no deceptions just works and does what it does.

TK, A simple example image produced using this and Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 using two different curves generated by this via the photoshop plugin and an underlying gradient and duplicating and mirroring the two curves layers and adjusting the blend methods and using one effects layer on top to brighten it up

You can spend many hours creating stunning abstract designs and although it was fun at the time I don't think it is something I use very often, but I'll keep it installed and play with it another time. Bit different from the usual software we normally get here.

where do I find it in Plug In as it's not shown in my Effect - Plug in list. I installed as plug in.

luckyv, I assume your talking about Photoshop? It should be under Filter in the menu bar.

Thomas Black, I use Corel Paintshop Pro. Only place I could think of would have been in Effect and finding it there but it's not there.
Save | Cancel
luckyv, on my old Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 once you have an image open it is in Effects | Plugins | AbstractCurves: AbstractCurves
After its first selection and use in the version I have the entry "AbstractCurves" then gets added to the bottom of the Effects menu below the Plugins entry, presumably to make it easier to find and use the plugins you actually use rather than potentially flooding the Effects menu with the potentially thousands of photoshop plugins that you could have installed.

I must have missed the previous versions. No problem with the activation. This looks like it will be fun.

Anita, if you have a photoshop plugin compatible layer aware graphics program this can produce really pleasing patterns and combinations of patterns :) At worst if you have Irfanview installed before this then you can install the photshop plugin in Irfanview and apply multiple curve designs to an existing image to be used as a background, not as adapatble as with say photoshop iteslf with layers but still uniquely adapatable.

Didn't start messing around trying to learn graphic until the last year so didn't pick this up when offered before. Messed around with this and I really like it. Perfect for someone like me who really hasn't much artistic/drawing talent. Looks like I have a lot of learning to do as with the other progs I picked up here, but I love all these types of programs. Perhaps I won't have to rely so much on others to make my avatars for me in the future. Thank you very much!

Richard Farina,
as mentioned in readme:
Unzip the package you've downloaded and install the software by running Setup.exe,
then run the activation program Activate.exe which is included in the package to register your copy.
Please make sure you've closed the program before running Activate.exe.

Richard Farina, I had this issue, I restarted my pc and then ran the activate again, it worked.

Richard Farina, If it is responding "Failed To Connect " it is due to your network connectivity, you have a firewall that by default is blocking new programs from connecting to the internet. ALL good firewalls should show some kind of alert when the program attempted to access the internet to give you the option to allow it to access the internet. If you agree to let it access and save the result you will have to re-execute the program as it had been blocked and needs to be run again for the new permission to be applied to the program. BUT if it keeps getting blocked and you see no prompts from any firewall you either have some part of the network infrastructure disabled or you have a badly designed firewall or firewall addon that never prompts you when a new program wants internet access and just arrogantly denies it access and assumes you are a computer admin that enjoys being in total control of every setting yourself and hate any notifications... an example of such a non-responsive firewall addon is TinyWall addon. IF you have installed TinyWall after being told its more secure than windows default firewall interface... take it from a technician that does like to be in control of his systems settings that it becomes tiresome to have to know the needs of every piece of trivial software running on a system and it is VERY helpfull to have a firewall let you know when a piece of software requires network access just to operate normally. The compromise I found that has both security by default and sensible notificatons is
the Free "Malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control" program it provides the best of both worlds, ability to lock down windows telemitary as well as new programs and to easily allow or block temporarily or perminatly outbound connections. If you are uising TinyWall you will need to use the systray menu options for it to allow a given window or process or executable internet access on the activate.exe program and every time you find such similar errors when trying to isntall other giveaways with setup.exe/gcd wrappers too.
Hope that helps in some way.

This is a stunningly designed product that simplifies the extremely complex process of creating vector patterns, allowing the user to craft VERY professional output.
Save | Cancel
Arthur ASCII, the created patterns are not vector patterns but mathematically generated patterns drawn as raster images so you do need to decide the required raster resolution in order to craft a potentially professional output. Choose to low an inital raster size and if you later resize up you will have either jaggies or blurred edges. 'Tis enjoyable to produce varid multi-layer multi curve compilations using it as a plugin in PhotoShop.

Is this really the exact same version that has apeard in the last two giveaways of this going back to Feb 2017? I was hoping for some more dev work like on adding complex gradient support for backgrounds within the program instead of having to generate a complex gradient externally and then setting it as a a background image in an external program and import the output of this with a transparent bacground as a layer on top of the gradient...
I did use it in the past to make a very large desktop to be shared accross a couple of FHD monitors and looked quite nice.
Note the previous giveaways of this versions license are still active and have never shown any problems since its been installed.
It requres significant playing with the settings to stumble upon good patterns. I do not view it as a graphics program or a program to design patterns but a tool to generate patterns and play around until you find something you like. Happy play time :)

I have this from the Giveaway a couple of years ago. It has the same version number. Any chance it's a teeny bit more recent?
It's quite fun although I haven't used it much on an ongoing basis. You can make some very nice backgrounds.
However it isn't high-DPI friendly and everything looks teeny on a 4k monitor (which I didn't have two years ago). The usual way I fix this didn't work beyond the initial screen asking if you want to start a new image, etc.
Hence I'd say if you don't have it then it's quite a bit of fun, but probably a pass if you have a lot of pixels on your screen... unless the authors have a tip?
P.S. Note, on Win 10 Pro x64 I did RMB->Properties->Compatibility->Change High DPI Settings->Tick "Override..." at bottom and select "System(Enhanced)"

It's alll there on https://www.giveawayoftheday.com/category/publisher/abstractcurves/ regardless it's a good tool and does what it does and no significant bugs that I can recall when playing with it.

TK,
I mentioned Jan 2016 because that is the version I have installed, 1.1.9.0 as the .exe file shows. I was just trying to make the point that this version today, is not new, not trying to give a history lesson.

Snakeman,
"i don't think this is for homeusers. I think some professional people can make a good use of it."
I think TK said it best when he wrote: "Happy play time :)"
I don't think it's for everyone -- lots of people will get bored, seemingly endlessly tweaking settings to finally arrive at something where you can proudly say: "I made that!" And then what? There are only so many things you can do with your new abstract. Others will get a kick out of it, more or less creating just for the joy of creating.
I don't see it as being a Go To tool for pros however, because it's too time consuming, & time is money as they say. They're much more likely to get something premade from from one of the galleries, e.g. Adobe's. Then again, someone could make dozens of these & upload them to one of those galleries, and hopefully make some money for their time & effort.
