It is very bad, when I start to rip, the program crashed. I have tried Movavi VideoSuite which has may functions such as Capture video from your digital and web cameras; Convert video to run on any mobile device;Split and merge video files;Add filters and special effects;Rip, backup and copy DVDs;Burn data, audio, and video CDs and DVDs;Create classy video postcards;I realy think it is much better than A-one DVD ripper.

Hempman got it right - this is crapware of the worst kind. Claims to do things it can't. Very poor at the things that it can just about do. Pity the poor goons who actually paid for this.

Handbrake works well, if anyone want to get some free software, it is the best choice. If someone want to get some fast and powerful software, Cucusoft Ultimate DVD + Video Converter Suite is the right one. It converts DVD's and videos to play on almost any portable device including iPod, iPhone, Zune, PSP, video capable MP3 players, video capable mobile phones, and Pocket P.C., etc. Meanwhile, it can also support output almost any audio/video format including Video format(H264, MP4, WMV, AVI, MOV, RM, 3GP, flv, SWF, mpeg-1, mpeg-2, VCD, SVCD, DVD, etc.) and Audio format(AC3, AAC, MP2, MP3, MP4, RA, WMA, etc.).

#78: As #38 you used the term "change the file name". As #78 you write about "rename a file name before it is even created". It puzzles me how someone wishes to rename (=change) something before it is even created. What I think you meant in your review is that you could not set the file name when creating the file. That is indeed a flaw in the software under consideration. But please formulate correctly when you mean. Otherwise you get misinterpreted.

I downloaded and installed the program with no issue (the registration info will pop-up after install, if anyone's confused), and then used it to rip a 21 minute special features thing off of one of my DVDs.

It only took like 6 minutes, which I found surprising, since my usual DVD Shrink + AutoGK mix usually takes roughly twice as long as the video I'm ripping. So I open the file it made... and the video is tiny, the sound is not good, and it cuts off 6 minutes and 28 seconds into it.

Personally, if I'm going to go to the trouble of ripping something, I'd like it to look and sound nice, and to be complete. I'll be uninstalling this program now. Thanks for offering it GotD, but it's not all that it says to be.

Information please.

I have a 4 minute DVD. I installed this software on Vista. It rips very fast until it reached 96% completion. Then the program stalls. I have tried several times with the same results.

Can somebody share why?

#23 If you live in Canada, it is legal to copy your DVD's to another DVD or you hard drive for archival purposes as long as you own the DVD in the first place, and as long as you aren't selling it or making profit from it.

There is a program called "Handbrake" and it can convert ripped DVD's to .avi files, and its open source, so its free.
I hope this comment has helped you, and others.

Well this comment is a bit off base, but i had to say something. My right click would crash my pc and start Dr.Watson Post MortemDebugger due to the fact that "Glary's Context Menu Shell Extension" Context Menu item was corrupting my entire system upon right clicking, I downloaded "SHELLEXVIEW" installed it and ran it disabling the faulty Glary Utility Context Meny Shell Extension listing and the right clicking was restored WAH-LAH simple as that one buggy item, ok well that settles that just so you all know, iam un-installing Glary U. I just bought IOLO SYSTEM Mechanic Professional 3 PC Liscense 2 Years on EBAY For 16$ and trust it to do the duties i need, anyway Peace Out Glad I could help...

I'd say this is okay if you want a simple conversion program and aren't too worried about the quality of the resulting video. But if good quality is important for you, I think you'll have to look elsewhere. I'm not concerned about fitting a movie on to CD size, which seems to be the only option if you choose Xvid conversion.
I wondered if trying the 'custom size' option would produce better quality. I tried converting a 90min film to 1200MB. The video quality was slightly improved, but the resulting file cut off before the end of the movie, so was basically useless.
I wonder if these problems are a result of trying to combine the ripping and conversion options into one program. I see the company also produces a dedicated video conversion program, which may be better. I can't recommend the results from this program as it stands, I'm afraid.

I think with a little more work, this could be a good program. For myself, I splurged a while back and got the Slysoft package of AnyDVD, CloneDVD2 and CloneDVD Mobile which does a much better job than this program, but you also pay for that quality.

Notice the "Unzip" - "install" - THEN "register"?

The video this program is NOT TRUE AVI or DivX. I have several pro level programs that edit true AVI and DivX and none of those programs will edit these files. However, I tried one of the crap programs I got here that claims falsely (like this one) to create and edit AVI files, and those do open the files this one creates.

The files this program creates are malformed MP4 files with hacked headers. Only other crapware will edit them.

#56. When I use any other ripper, I am able to name the output file anything I want as the file has not been created yet, and thus I am not "working with the file". This is a feature of the Windows operating system.

In fact, in any other ripper I use, I am able to create and delete directories. Another feature of the Windows OS.

The fact that he file can not be renamed before it is even created is a flaw in this program as it has nothing to do with the Windows Operating System.

Do try not shaking your dusty old pom poms so vehemently, you demonstrate your overt ignorance.

To Hempman (#38); Your last paragraph looks very familiar to the paragraph notated on the following link,

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=346478

Do you get your so called "knowledge" from websites and try to play it off as you "studied this"? Come on you copied this word for word!

All your information, though very insightful, is copied from people who actually work hard to do a product description and research while you plagiarize it. Give us a review in your own words once in a while and you might be more respected.

As for the software, thanks GAOTD for offering this but there is alot better software out there for free or for a minimal charge such as Hempman described from the above link.

then use your favorite vob to XXX convert program, or just burn the whole works to a dual layer dvd and presto

It installed fine and I started ripping a DVD which was 1:50 long. The conversion was slow (It took over 4 hours) Oh sorry, make that: the conversion EXTREMLY slow. Then when I played the output file, the quality was barely satisfactory, and it cut off the last 10 minutes of the film. There was a function were you could specify the part of the film to convert, so I selected the last 10 minutes. But for some reason it converted a completely different section of the film.

I am disapointed with this product.

This has nothing to do with this application: it is a property of the Windows operating system. To test this, try and change any filename you are working on with any Windows application. You cannot even change the name of any directory containing a file that is open.

When u start to install the software , a new window opens up in the back ground (other than normal software installer), with the password and key, so pls be connected to the net and off temporarily (In case of some pop up blockers/firewalls), if it doesnt , i guess cancel install and try again, it should come up.

I understand the some are still having install problems. I am controlling my usual ascerbic response to those notes.

When you run setup.exe, do not let the program start immediately (given the problems some haev with this, it should not be there anyway). Instead, uncheck the "load program now" (or start, whatever the word used). You will get a popup window with Giveawayoftheday and a serial code. Copy these to notepad or other convenient text editor.

NOW start the program. When asked to register, use the name/serial number provided.

Come on guys, this is not exactly rocket science.

Oops, I let a little sarcasm escape. I Hope the behavior piggies don't get too annoyed. I also hope that maybe they'll grow up one day and control themselves instead.
