hmm, not many dolphins show up, i like Atlantis much better, amd disappointed in this one. I like Astro-Gemini, and want to try many of their screensavers, but I keep hoping something more interesting will cross my screen, but it doesn't.
Keep 'emcoming, I am willing to try them all.
Thanks.

I installed this on 3 laptops (2 w/XP pro and 1 w/vista) It locked up all three. All were Dells w/window liveonecare AV. I could not get it to run the Vista dual core machine at all. The two XP machines - I could get it to run but after resuming from the saved screen, none of the screen Icons would respond. JUNK!

Seems like a sample from DirectX SDK (same dolphins models and movements). Also this screensaver has lags on my pc (Cel 2.8, 1GB, ASUS 1650X 256 DDR3)... HL2 has not lag...

#58 International, #79 Hempman--I've temporarily posted my firewall logs for the first two runs of 3D Wild Dolphin in the BladedThoth forum for which I provided a link, clearly indicating no unusual activity, no attempts to communicate via the Astro Gemini screensaver manager or 3D Wild Dolphin. Let's see your logs that indicate a problem. Put up or shut up. Oh, and International, multiple security products definitely can interfere with each other and cause all kinds of false reports.

I would not mind a screen saver if it did not look and act like something from the bad old days of arrogant AOHell.

This one looks extremely amateurish with primitive graphics, and stiff artificial looking animation. The forced inclusion of internet links only makes this look more like a fishing expedition for suckers than a true software offering. Does not work with multiple monitors, as it only displays on the primary monitor and leaves whatever one was doing displayed on the other.

The fact that it also sucks a huge chunk of RAM, and beats on both the CPU and GCPU, as well as phoning home (why does a screen saver need to call out?) makes me wonder why anyone capable of thought would want to even download. I guess it is up to the individual if they want to shorten the life of thier computer by running garbage like this.

Of course, there is always the dusty old pom pom crowd who can't tell the difference between crap and shinola. Don't wory, that crap burning out your graphics card and CPU was free, after all! Bull $hit! Sometimes, as demonstrated by the plethora of crapware given away here, some people think its a good thing when they are given a big bag of crap.

For those of that are concerned about the memory hog potential of this program, just use yesterday's memcleaner to bail you out.

Really ... somebody should write a memcleaner/screen saver so we could avoid downloading two pieces of poo at the same time.

Conejo Blanco comment #59 …….Firstly what is it with people like you, who have to call into question comments made by others?

Regarding my children’s ages. If you work out the math you’ll see that I’ve not ‘exaggerated my children’s ages in any way.

Callum aged 8…… Birthday 4th Jan 99
Emily aged 6… ….Birthday 22nd Oct 00

I started visiting the Giveaway project from very late November just before the Game giveaway started. Why do you have to throw accusations of lying; when it is obvious that I’ve not been? I can assure you I can back up everything I say if needs be. As for my Yawn Fest, I'll write what I like when I like. That just happens to be my style; if you don't like it, don't read it.

At least ‘I’ try to inform about the software being offered and also offer alternatives that I’ve tried myself. Usually on the giveaway site though as I very rarely use the applications given away here unless they are something unusual like ‘Magic Score’, which my son found very useful for his saxophone, ‘Mind Mapping’, which I use for my projects, Shell Enhancers like ‘Wire Changer’ to give the desk top a fresh feel, sand boxes like ‘Buffer Zone’ to ensure things have been checked before I allow them on the system proper and Screensavers so I can chill staring at the screen like a vegetable; especially when the morphine I have been prescribed kicks in…. The extra stuff I write is always related to the subject matter at hand in some way; ‘usually’ ;) The drugs probably make me waffle a little, lol.

It would have been nice if your post actually said something useful for the community or developers instead of just … I quote…

“Astro Gemini has some nice looking screensavers but I don’t think they’re worth the hassle of the extra icons and “manager” garbage that gets installed, and certainly not worth $20.”

Now why is that may I ask? Couldn’t you actually explain why they aren’t worth it? At least then your comment would have taken up some useful space instead of ranting about someone else’s post. What about an alternative free screen saver for example?
Anyway…..

We all have different tastes so no one can please everyone. At least I don’t whine/complain about what others write here unless a comment is personally directed at me and especially when it’s calling into question my integrity. I respect ‘most’ people’s opinions whatever they are. I must admit in the early days of this project I wrongly attacked ‘anonymous’ over some issue because I’d misread what he/she had said, but I was decent enough to apologise the following day after he/she had replied to my attack.

Then again I may have misread what you’ve implied :) in which case I’m sorry for lambasting you.

Thanks for the screensaver link, ‘D’ comment #45; I’ll check that out later. I’m always on the look out for more screensavers.

The Elefun screensaver that I mentioned in my first post this morning has now changed and is called ‘Horse in the Mist……….another one that will appeal to my 6 year old (nearly 7) daughter Emily because she loves horses and she’s recently started riding herself. :) (Conejo, do you want me to give you the address and telephone number of the horse riding school that my daughter attends. (and for that matter email you a scanned image of one of my prescription scripts) I haven’t a problem with that…. As I said above I can back up everything I say. You are welcome to check to see that my tales are actually true and not just ‘hot air as you seem to think’. There must be a lot of dishonest people around you if you can say such things on a public forum, when you don’t even know me. (just email me….. you’ve obviously checked back to see when I’ve mentioned my children’s ages, so you must know I’ve posted my email as well. I’ll gladly supply you with any information you request…. Lmfao)

By the way you can get the next free screensaver via the following link:

http://www.elefun-desktops.com/

P.S.

I do apologise to the general readers here and to the Giveaway team for my rant. I do hope you don’t edit this post as I find personal attacks on anyone here not very pleasant and not in the spirit of what this site is about (Okay, it’s main purpose is to generate profit, lol)

Yes, I waited for the file to download, even thought I knew I was going to uninstall it afterwards anyway. (What do I want dolphins swimming around my computer for? How embarrassing!)

The files finally downloaded, I say finally because a screensaver should not be that big, it means bad new from the word go. I installed the file and realised that I have to have some manager thing with it. As I guessed, this manager also asked me to continually upgrade... at a price - I thought this was the full version!?

It put a whole lot of junk on my desktop, I need that 22" of space thanks and when I went to customize the screensaver in the manager, like you are meant to do, I was lucky enough to find a preview button, let alone a button for uninstall.

I ran the screen saver on my XP Professional - SP2, 2GB RAM machine only to find that it took 23 seconds to load (By now I am back from the printer/coffee maker) and when it did get to some scenery, I got an 'End Now' dialogue before the music even started!

Uninstall x 10

I didn't like this screensaver so I didn't download today but since we are getting an occational screensaver again I wanted to suggest a repeat of the Mechanical Clock 3D Screensaver that was given away a few months back. That was the best screensaver I have ever tried. Unfortunatly I had to reformat and reinstall windows and lost it. Thanks anyway GAOTD, even on the days you don't offer something I want, you are very appreciated. Rare to get anything for free these days. Even if it's something you don't need. It's the thought that count's. 8)

Downloaded this since I am a fan of aquatic themed screen savers. Was thoroughly disappointed. The graphics are primitive and reminded me of nVidia 3D demos from 1999, even in "high quality" mode. The saver appears to have modest system requirements, but apparently my GeForce FX card with 128 megs of ram isn't good enough to run it in "high quality" with fluid speed. (A Geforce FX is by no means state of the art, but it far exceeds a card with 32 megs of memory) Unchecking high quality improved the speed, but I still experienced jerky movement. Again, I will stress that the graphics were unimpressive and primitive even in high quality mode. I also experienced a bug where disabling the music in the screen saver also disabled the sound effects, one didn't work without the other. The music was lovely, but screen savers really don't need a soundtrack. These factors drove me to uninstall. Don't think I'll be trying any offerings from Astro Gemini again. Instead I recommend 3Planesoft as they offers similar themed screen savers of a much higher quality. The SereneScreen aquarium series are also excellent alternatives. They were the first of their kind; providing amazing realism 6 years ago that far exceeds this modern GOTD.

I just installed this screensaver on an old Compaq Persario SR1020NX 2.8 Mghz Computer running a gig of rem memory. The color was great but movement was very eratic and jerky almost like I was seeing it one screen at a time. I have uninstalled it and removed it from my computer. Sorry, even free it just wasn't good enough for me.

Not your best work GAOTD. For a programme that claims photo like graphics they are extremely budget. Takes too much system resourse, i've never had a screen saver that had to load 1% 2%....
Probably a good kids title but there is far better out there for free.
The spacies game two days ago on GGOAOTD made up for all this however =-)
ill look forward to tomorrow
Thanks

I will pass on this offer. I love screensavers but I would hate the extra icons and especially the screensaver manager that is forced on us by the publisher. Windows has a fine way to manage our screensavers. We don't need or want yours. I was ready to agree with post # 59 until he/she/it got to the bashing portion of it's comment. There is no need for that type of comment. It's just plain rude. When a game/program is offered here and someone complains that they don't like it. Most of the comments are "if you don't like the offering.. don't download and move on." The same can be said about the comments. No one is forced to read all of the comments. if you don't like a comment move on and read the next one. I like to read all of the comments to judge others opinion of the offerings. I may not agree with every comment but I will respect other users right to voice their opinion. Thank you GAOTD fot the great programs.

#58, International, if you're such a security expert, why are you using free security crapware? I purchase the best I can find. Why is your dazzling security software unable to determine exactly what processes are accessing exactly which websites, and sending/receiving what and how much data? All you ever post is vague accusations about things that you think are happening. If other people are dumb enough to believe that you know what you're talking about, that's their problem. Unless you can provide a detailed log of an actual security breach, I'll continue to have far greater confidence in my security software than your freeware. Further, if you have a hardware firewall with logging, or an external proxy server with logging, that will definitively prove or disprove your accusations.

Very poor piece of software. Installs, lots of things you don't need, like the icons all over, its own screen saver manager (apparently your o.s. screen saver isn't enough) links for a "full version" and on a vista machine it crashes ....
I expected better from GAOTD :-(

I downloaded this, but have yet to actually install it. I didn't realize that it was another Astro-Gemini screensaver. Which aren't bad, but I've downloaded several prior screensavers of theirs and never kept any of them. Found the graphics to be not quite as good as some of the others that are offered here, and the Titanic saver wouldn't ever even display properly. So while I've downloaded this one, there's a good chance that I'll not actually be installing it today after all. :-|

But thanks anyway!

I'm one of the rare people who like screensavers. I really liked this one. Downloaded, activated and installed fine. But what good is that when the saver freezes the computer before it can even start. Preview causes a freeze too. I'm running Windows Vista.

Very nice. Thank you GAOTD. team. Some of us here appreciate screen savers. I am one of the few I guess that enjoy em. Why some people here make an issue out of screen savers is beyond me. I never could figure why people bitch & complain over something that is totally free is mind boggling to say the very least.
The last time I looked, everything offered at this site is totally free. It's a damn shame people will gripe over something that is offered for free is amazing.
People that do nothing but bash GAOTD. should be banned and not even allowed to download anything here without a free membership. I'm willing to bet they would shut up then in fear of not ever being able to download anything much lone come here and bitch & complain.
Again, thank you very much GAOTD. team for all you do and put up with from the babies that do nothing but gripe over a free screen saver.
I know what I would do if it was up to me. I would give away a free screen saver a day for a week straight until these people that complain can learn to keep there mouth shut.
This site gives away free software daily. Do I download everything ? no I don't. If it's something I don't want, need, I come back the next day period, and so on. Big deal, you don't like a screen saver for whatever reason. Fine ! let the people that do enjoy them have em. You don't see people in here during the week crying how much they hate so & so software, give us screen savers. Get a life people, seriously ! get a fricken life and get the hell over yourselves period.

Thanks GOTD and thanks for the yawn-fest White Rabbit. Always a treat to see another tragic/heartwarming loooong Rabbit Tale. BTW, have your kids been swimming in the Fountain of Youth, as well? #39 FUBAR, for your information the security on my computer is as tight as you can get it. I do regular scans and to date have never been infected by a virus or spyware which wasn't detected or blocked. I use Comodo Firewall which is A1 in my opinion. If it says a program has loaded into another program to access the internet then that's whats happening. It dosen't make things up. I also use 3 anti-virus programs running together, without any conflict. I use AVG anti-spyware plus together with spyware terminator, also an anti-keylogger. I have various others including spybot and a-squared etc, the list goes on. I regulary fix or repair peoples computers and advise them what security they need. It makes me laugh when people say "I've got the best security" and then later lose their personal information or get infected and have to totally reinstall their computer. I have 2 brothers who think they know it all, but they have both come unstuck in the past. I comment on GAOTD programs to inform people what I find about the programs. If you think you know it all then that's up to you.

Sometimes I feel like I am back in 5th grade listening to the most un popluar brag themselves up. (Makes them feel important I guess)

Pardon me as I didn't know I 'miss' out so many words. So explain again.

" I believe some readers mention that they still see ‘get full version’ when download manager ‘open’. Try ‘open up’ the 'config' button you should able to find ‘Giveaway register’. The ‘Register’ and Get full version’ buttons beside is not accessible. Which means it should be the ‘full version’ we getting. So is probably just a ‘misunderstanding’". Hope this help :)

Thanks GOTD and Astro Gemini,

For today's giveaway. Install with a 'breeze',activate and watch for some times. I love marine sea sc. My conclusion is Music not bad, graphic quite a 'let down'. The 'fishes' look 'stiff' and 'fake'. Movements not so life like compare with their other giveaway 3D Atlantic. Heh not offense just mainly sharing my point of view with readers here. Definitely appreciate what this site have contribute so far. I believe some readers mention that they still see 'get full version' when download manager 'open', Try 'open up' the config button you should 'Giveaway register' and the 'Register' and Get full version' buttons beside is not accessible. Which means it should be the 'full version' we getting. The manager has a link that says "get the full version" I thouht that's what we were supposed to have. So it this the full version or not?

The screen saver is of good quality. It's peaceful and nice for kids who like fish. The animation isn't spectacular but the environmental effects are what makes it work.

Reply to #27 "Moomphas" from another GAOTD visitor:

Hmmm, certainly...right after you receive permission from Astro Gemini (probably with your payment of $19.95)! Any other use of it constitutes theft because you don't have their permission to use it that way. Knowing what it is isn't theft--only using it without proper authority is (in my opinion). Of course, probably no one is going to break down your door and arrest you for stealing it unless you continue flaunting how resourceful you are at getting access to things that don't belong to you. Just because it's on your machine doesn't mean you own it any more than you own Windows (whatever) just because it's on your machine. Nobody really cares what you do privately with the number. Memorize it and make it your bank account password. Who cares? Just don't keep on asking GAOTD what you can and cannot do with it. You probably wouldn't like the answer anyway. ;)

You know as well as I do that they are not going to get on here and tell you it's okay to do that. If I'm wrong, they're welcome to correct me as I'm just speaking for myself, not for them. I feel sure they're tired of hearing this question over and over, coming from people who are intelligent enough to know that GAOTD can't say they allow it regardless of whether they privately do or don't. The only ones who have a real reason to care are the developers. If you like this site and the fact that developers are willing to give you an extended version of one of their products for free, you should just keep your mouth shut and enjoy that gift with some sense of gratitude. Don't you agree?

Sorry folks that this comment wasn't about today's software. As someone who really likes this site and wants to see it continue and do well, I felt someone needed to respond to this post. I feel like it was an inappropriate question that GAOTD shouldn't even have to respond to.

Downloaded and installed with no problems. Clicked on preview and the s/s lasted about 15 seconds and froze my system. After reboot, I deleted the whole thing from my computer. (I have Windows XP).

What I saw of the the graphics were nowhere near realistic, but the music was very nice.

#30. You are VERY funny phil but I shant rise to your 'Oh so very condescending' comments, knowing the system that I have.

Must say though, that my computer doesn't NEED pretty dancing pics on screen to improve my home??

That ISN'T what they are designed for. BIG yawns.

It wouldn't work with Vista for me. Got a 'not responding' error. I uninstalled it after five seconds.
Thanks anyway GOTD

#25, International, you're always claiming that GOTD offerings are trying to access the Internet surreptitiously. I use excellent security software and, as far as I know, the most leak-proof firewall, and there has been no unexpected communication. There are two possibilities--your system is infected with malware, or you are mistaking other Internet activity. For example, the only uncommon Internet activity I had around the time that I installed and ran this was from Windows Defender, to its Microsoft site. You need to upgrade your security software and find out what's going on on your system.

To Phil (number 29)

My system is more them capable of running this screen saver.
Still get the error as said in 23.

System Requirements:Pentium III or higher; 32 MB Video Memory; DirectX 8.0 or higher; DirectX-compatible sound card.

Now I think most people meet these requirements.
