TK is correct saying that this PCWinSoft app uses older tech. Basic audio recording is pretty easy – Windows has always included a sound recorder [now called Voice Recorder – in the store if not installed] – so even if it is old tech, there’s little reason 1AV Sound Recorder shouldn’t work. The company that made your Windows device however might have decided that it did not want you to be able to record playing audio. In Windows you can only record audio from recognized audio inputs, and in those devices with this type of DRM, the audio drivers that come with the device do not include a working recording input for the audio headed to the speakers or headphone jack.

Sometimes all you have to do is turn that input on – it’s common with Realtek audio chipsets to have the Stereo Mix, on the recording tab of Windows Sound Control panel, disabled in properties. In that case click Stereo Mix, click the Properties button, & under Device usage at the bottom of the General tab, select Use this device. If that’s not the case, sometimes you can Google to find methods to turn on this feature in the registry etc., or there are virtual audio drivers available – many recording apps include them. TK mentioned Audacity’s WASAPI recording – it may sometimes have problems, so their tutorial page talks about a couple of alternatives, including those virtual drivers, & provides a couple of links. Or you might try an app like the prior GOTD, Audio Capture for Windows, which works similar to Audacity using WASAPI.

Audacity works really well and is free. Used it for years.

Yep tried this before and another epic fail. While I can clearly hear audio of all kinds including YouTube with zero problems and other sound recorder capture programs work not this one. Just like Ice commented - no audio device found even tho it's on my Asus motherboard.

Not much good for me. The program tells me there are no audio devices installed. Must be on the MB. Device Manager lists NVIDIA virtual audio device and high definition audio, which are for HDMI and Shield, along with Realtek high definition audio.

Obsolete software based upon windows 98/XP DirectSound and MME sound subsystems... now if it was redeisigned to use WASAPI so it could make the most of Windowss Vista and above sound subsystems so we caould record from speakers or headphones or any played sound stream as well as sound input devices it might be worth having but it's not so better to stick with Audacity to capture systems playback audio on systems without a stereo sound mixer input pin.

Maybe I'm writing about, but I wanted to buy the "Screen Camera" product. Unfortunately, on the manufacturer's website the program does not cost $ 9.90 only once more (x2) plus tax. The link on this page refers to such a product price !!!

Andy, I tried to purchase but ScreenCamera costs £41.36 which is a lot more than 9 dollars 90 cents.

Screencamera.net is priced at $9.90 + tax when you click the "on sale" link. But for Screencamera its link is saying wrong coupon; and so it is giving the price $19.95 + tax.

steve, Scroll up this page (last position). I'm not blind. He writes $ 9.90. All programs. That's why I was surprised.

Andy, it is not priced at 9.90 because the url link has the wrong coupon number. I commented because your words suggested you did not see that was the reason but perhaps thought it a deception on the publisher's part. You could look at the other coupon codes and perhaps guess what might be the correct one from them, or just email the publisher. But from the description screencamera.net seems to do everything screencamera does, plus additional functions. I don't know where Eddie got £41.36 from.
