I didn't use and register it the day i installed it.
I tried today, but it sayed "invalid key".
I succeeded by setting my computer's date to the 22 Feb, date of the released by GOTD, and it worked fine! ;-)

Aww. That's too bad, Mikey. Sorry to hear that. Especially since you seemed to like the program so much.

I'd like to try to help you, not sure if I can, but worth a try.

First of all, fix the original problem unrelated to this software that caused crashes. Did you fix that one? You don't want to have it continue messing things up.

Next, maybe you can first try what's termed an "IN PLACE" installation of this software. That means installing it again 'over top' of what you have. This *may* reinstall the missing pieces and correct itself. And if you previously registered it validly during the proper time period, that key may still reside on your system and function. MAKE a BACKUP of the app's folder in PROGRAM FILES before making changes, if you want to preserve it in its current condition.

If that doesn't work, next you can try to see if you can 'repair' it using the ADD/REMOVE control panel. (Fat chance, probably not, usually its only Microsoft office type programs that have a 'repair' button) so.. moving right along...

Uninstall it using the ADD/REMOVE programs control panel. Make a backup of the app's folder in program files folder first if you want. And optionally the registry. (Rule #1 is always have a backup.) Or if you don't care since it doesn't work anyway, just uninstall it. THEN TRY TO INSTALL it again fresh. Sometimes it's also nice to reboot after uninstall and before reinstalling, up to you.

The key code that you got before, during the proper time *may* still be in the registry. Ok, lets assume for troubleshooting it asks to register again. You might try the key code you used originally (Hopefully you saved it! Or wrote it down) Anyway you could give that a try.

There are some more advanced techniques such as doing binary compares, and editing the CLASSID codes in the registry but in all honesty, if it's taking that much effort, it's just a lot easier to buy it. lol. If one has a job where you earn even $100 per hour, one could operate smarter by just buying a software program for $25 in 10 minutes and earning the 100 per hour for the rest of the hour, rather than spending more than 15 minutes on it. But sometimes its fun and advantageous to give it a little try anyway for troubleshooting and learning experience. Or if one is bored and it just interests one to tinker around for a bit to learn how things work.

Ok, sorry to hear that you were sad that it didn't work for you :( Hope you have good luck and everything turns out well for ya since you liked this program.

:)

#144 steve mcneice Wrote: "–installed program but only the freeware version was installed."

No, this is the PRO version. The pro version is installed.
Yes, I know a dialog box comes up at the beginning 'talking' about the freeware version, (which by the way is nice to know they have also!) and then asking you to visit the owner's web page to get the Pro version: IGNORE that message. Just close that box and continue onward. You already have the pro version. Continue progressing FORWARD by closing that Message and when you go to the proper menu, and enter the registration key it will BE the PRO version.

There is no upgrade or anything more to download. 'setup.exe' and 'readme.txt' contain everything you need. Including PRO verison capabilities and activation capabilities built inside. You already have all you need (or at least within the registration time period).

@ Keilaron #145: Re: Blockquote tag -
No, the Blockquote function does not suit the level of customization that I need which may involve pullquotes, alternate hierarchies, numeric tags, dropcode culling, and non-sequential partial extractions. Also it requires non-text P tags which at times alter the flow inserting unnecessary whitespace where it is not wanted. And opens up the possibility for event attributes on non-blog applications within the tag structure. Might be usable on a few, but not as a rule.

This software is, unfortunately, crap.

It has a nice GUI, does a lot of cool and useful things, but it's SLOW. It's slower than it could possibly be expected to be. It locks up completely while it's performing any of its functions, and takes forever to operate on files. Synchronizing id3 tags on a single file takes nearly 15 seconds - and I have a Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz. That operation should be instantly complete per-file.

I like the interface, I like the selection of things it can do, in fact the only real complaint I have is the complete lack of speed. Unfortunately, the complete lack of speed is a horrible deal breaker to me. I don't appreciate software that isn't good at what it does.

--extracted files
--ran "setup"
--installed program but only the freeware version was installed.
--my download came with only "setup.exe" and a readme.txt files.
--no-where could I find a password or code (even in the readme)

Since so many people are having trouble (including me)
and we all can't be so dumb to be unable to install this...

Maybe this upgrade to pro info could be e-mailed to me,
because I was under the impression that I was getting the
"pro" version.
or repost the file with a new extension or time limit....

Hi, I have used activations many times from this website many a times without any problems.
Today even after many tries, I was not able to get this software registered through graphical or through cmd line.
It just said entered invalid number (even though copy pasted, waste of time.)
anyways, 24hrs finished, game finished. now sleeping.

#123 Libelous1 is the most likely correct. The name has to be entered exactly as “GiveAwayOfTheDay” (without the quotes).

As far as registration key code, EVERYBODY got exactly the same one. The link "For Developers" at the top of the page explains how this site works. GOTD PAYS the developers for each program, then they distribute the program with exactly the same key they purchased for anyone to download for one day. It's not like some got a working key and others got a non-working key, everyone got the same key. If it is working for most but not working for some then "some" did something wrong.

Apparently this program won't open if you don't enter the registration key right away. So just use the command line from Start and then Run.

If file extensions are turned OFF in Window explorer use this command:
C:\Program Files\Zortam Mp3 Media Studio\zmmspro register

If your extensions are turned ON in Windows Explorer use this command:
C:\Program Files\Zortam Mp3 Media Studio\zmmspro.exe register

Click Start, Run, copy-paste either command depending on how your Windows Explorer is set up, then click OK. You may have to change the command if you installed to any drive other than "C", change the initial drive letter to the drive where you installed. If you don't remember where you installed do a Search for the file zmmspro.exe and adjust the command line accordingly.

Then copy-paste the name GiveAwayOfTheDay where they name goes, then copy-paste the same key code everybody else got, then click OK. If done correctly it WILL work.

Installed with no problems at all. While I have waaaaaaaay too many similar programs it never hurts to try a new one. There appears to be a wealth of available information and things to play around with. However, I can't get the music player to work. In fact, it doesn't even appear sometimes. Following the instructions in the excellent detailed Help section doesn't solve the problem. In the Options section you have the ability to select another player but I wanted to test the one that is suppose to accompany this program. No luck so far. I guess I'll just work some more on it and see what happens.

I agree w/ those that are asking GotD to not re-arrange the post numbers. Makes it a lot easier to navigate comments if that's not done. However, us posters can help that by the way we post.

If you've got a comment that you're responding to, just copy it and then italicize it at the beginning of your post. That way, people won't have to scroll up to a specific number (that may or may not have changed).

Little more work on our part, but I think it makes it easier on everyone reading.

I use(d) separate programs for these tasks, but this program looks like a great ALL IN ONE.

Used CDEX for ripping,
Advanced MP3 Catalog Professional for organizing,
TAG & RENAME for Mp3 Tagging
Nero for burning

This program seems to have all in 1.

SCREENSHOTS look nice too. Nice interface.

Very visual. With folder and directory list, columnar track display, pictures, cover art, Nice and technical. People whose VCR still has a blinking 12:00 on it won't like the interface, but if you're technical side, and just don't find other programs have enough advanced features, it's great.

And both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tag boxes are right out front and visible, with no need to click something to open up yet another window to view them. Nice!

Even has provision for song lyrics in there too.

A search function. Not common in this type of program.

Has Amazon reviews and capability to import them into the tag.

Deals with Karaoke KAR files too.

One thing I don't like is that it sets itself by default to STARTUP with WINDOWS. I don't know why this type of program needs to startup automatically by default. But thankfully there is an option to turn autostartup OFF in the program's own OPTIONS, so I didn't have to go chase it down in the registry or MSCONFIG.

Another thing I dont' like is that when naming files while ripping there appears to be ONLY a dropdown list with predefined choices, like [Artist] [Title] and some others. But I prefer to custom edit these. It seems like you cannot in this program, CDEX can do it. This might be a deal-breaker for this program. A reason why I won't use it. Unless that's fixed. This feature should definitely not be missing from a program that categorizes itself as a Pro version.

FOR ALL:
This is the PRO version, not the Freeware version.
The serial number works.
Registration works.
Just keep at it, you'll get it eventually.
Read the README file then you won't be confusimacated like #61 Richard. It says all you need to know right there in the readme. If you just read that you won't be spending time figuring things out. It says it pretty plainly for you in there. Every day.

Helpful posts, PauloParra. Thanks. I'm sure it will help many users.

:)

Zortam Autotag is great options you could get all lyrics and cover arts within few minutes for (I have tried 2000 files and it finished within 10 min). Batch normalization is great because you set custom volume and it is using mp3gain which is free source.

hmmm

That was weird. I just installed it in my other computer, a laptop that also runs XP pro sp2 and I didn't need to close the registration window for the installation to continue. I swear that in my desktop it just got stuck until I closed the little windows. And it wasn't my firewall preventing things from happening. I have the same firewall in both computers.

When it asked me to select mp3's to add to my collection I just closed the window, and then it demanded a username and a registration key.
I cut and pasted from the little window and everything went smootlhy. The program runs fine on both computers and they are both licensed to GiveawayOfTheDay.

Sorry if I got anybody more confused already!

Hi Guys,

I think I may know why some people who didnt register yesterday cannot register today. I think that the setup wont continue running until you close the window with the registration information.

I think this is true because when I ran setup, I got the little window with all the info on it and the setup program was just sitting doing nothing.

The 'Next' button was greyed out and the application was not using any cpu. As soon as I closed the little window with the reg info, a the web page from GGOTD poped up and the 'Next' button that was greyed out became active again.

I always copy and paste the reg info when it is given just is case the window that constains it accidentally closes. So when that little window opens with all the reg info, Copy its entire content and paste it into the readme file that you should have already open to follow the instructions.

If you don't have the readme file open in an editor, create an new empty text file and paste the info there. If that is not an option, write the information down by hand 'carefully'. Remember that the name and registration number must be identical to the ones given, including the case, the '-' separating the numbers and everything else.

If you have notables from the other days, you can create a new entry and paste it there. I wouldn't recommend writing it out by hand becasue it is very easy to make mistakes. I always use double click to select and right mouse button>Paste to paste. That way I am certain that the entries are correct.

When you go through the installation, it is already a pro installation, so it will inmediatelly ask for the name and code if you even want to run it the first time.

I was given the choice at first and I passed it, but the second time the message said that I MUST enter the info right now or the progrie would not even run thus making it impossible to register it.

Getting a free version and entering the codes won't work because the installation we get is already the pro installation.

That was my experience. I hope it is of some use.

I have used several programs here without problem until today. Well, the culprit was my anti-virus software. I suspect those having troubles will need to disable your anti-virus software long enough to install it. I am finding this to be true of many programs today. The installers just need a low level access that the anti-virus software is blocking assuming it's malware of some sort. Hopefully this will be of help to those having problems. Good luck.

I do not like Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Pro because I find it ugly - perhaps not a great reason to reject something, but there it is - AND because of the fact that it crashed about five minutes into testing it (I was batch loading lyrics when it happened).
