Hello,

Some closing answers for you all.

Apparently someone yesterday (couldn't find them in this thread - maybe it was elsewhere?) and Danno: The PRO edition actually CAN strip EXIF info! If anyone would like to make the discounted upgrade to PRO for that but the Giveaway discount deal has run out, let us know and we can offer a raincheck.

Santu (#45), VK (#48): If the installation problems did not go away for you before the giveaway ended, please contact us via the Zoner Software support form:

http://www.zoner.com/ww-en/support/contact-support-team

and we will work things out.

David (#49): Zoner Photo Studio, or rather, Windows, should not normally repeatedly bring up UAC during routine file management. Here again, please write to us via the support form address above and we'll solve this together.

drvajra (#53): ZPS 13 PRO has PRO features not found in HOME. However, some new features are in version 14 even in the HOME edition. But you don't have to choose - you can install both versions side by side. (If you can't do that because the Giveaway has run out for you, please let us know.)

Danno (#62) and other mentions of layers: To be open and prevent any misunderstandings - Zoner Software does not plan to create a "Zoner picture file format" in the future, and without that, we couldn't save layers if we made them, and if we can't save them, there is no sense in having them. Thus no layer support is planned unless we have a major sea change. (We don't plan to have our own format because our past experience with another Zoner-only format is that people are bothered by not being able to share files in that format hassle-free with people not using that format. Also, it's a major developer-time investment for an editor function when we are an all-in-one, not just an editor.)

Mike (#64): Maximum thumbnail size can be pulled up to 320 if desired in the preferences (Settings > Preferences... > Thumbnails; you may also have to up the setting in Settings > Preferences... > Catalog). We can support photoshop plugins because Adobe made their plugin specification public. I *believe* that we don't do brushes because their specification is not public, though I'd have to double-check.

kamera (#71) - This is a PRO-only feature; unfortunately the Help file had to be written from the standpoint of PRO (if you were judging from the Help). Earlier replies of mine show links to HOME/PRO feature comparison charts. Apologies for the inconvenience all the same!

embee (#78): The notion of "unsetting" default programs doesn't exist in Windows (unfortunately), just the notion of setting them. Assuming you're in Windows Vista/Windows 7, you can just click the Windows Start button, go to "Default Programs" in the Start menu, find and click your favorite image viewer, and use the button in this window to make it the default (again) for all formats it can handle. If you're on Windows XP, the steps are a bit drawn out - please write to on our support page, linked above.

Jeffb (#84) - I'm afraid I don't understand your question; could you write it out please in more detail via our support page?

Jon K2 (#85) - Yes, Zoner Photo Studio checks for updates/deals/license validity on startup; this is non-optional. No other information than the above is communicated, specifically, no personal information is communicated, so we hope that you will agree that your rights are not infringed; if you do not, however, we won't be offended.

Many Thanks to Zoner and GOATD. Installed and ran without ANY drama on Windows 7 Home Premium Edition - 32bit.

@ #67 - You may have to set the program to run as a 32bit program under the property settings on the right click of the .exe file selected which is utilised to access Zoner. Once the file has been configured, re-run Zoner to see that the error has gone. Alas this is one reason I will not install a 64bit operating system till the bugs/memory issues are ironed out.

Like #68 had mentioned it is a program which is VERY easy on the eyes with the dark background. Unlike most programs which have the glary white user interface, this really makes photo editing easier to work with.

This program tries to connect to the Internet each time it starts up.

Can't find any setting in the program's "Setting, Preferences..." to stop this behaviour.

At the site on trail said Congratulations! The program’s trial period has successfully been extended by 30 days.
Please make sure that the computer where the trial version of Zoner Photo Studio 14 is installed is connected to the Internet, and then restart the program.

I have restarted and said 20 days for trail on that program. Why not 30 days instead of 20 days?????

I found a jewel for picture viewing. After the long trial period, the free version is quiet sufficient. Ultra super fast. Go from photo to photo inside a folder and recursively sub folders with just the mouse wheel. http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/downloads/

Downloaded this last time it was offered and really find it to be a solid, well-performing photo editor and viewer program. I use Photoshop quite a bit, but this interface is similar and has many of the features that I use on a regular basis. It is the BEST photo editing and viewing program that I've tried in these giveaways. Fast, efficient and well worth using.

#45 - just a guess, but maybe your system clock is off; you can check it by hovering your mouse over the time in the lower right corner of your screen, on the task bar. If the numbers are OK, make sure the am/pm indicator is correct. Also, you may need to change your time zone setting under ControlPanel/DateAndTime. Hope that helps.

Giovanni gives some decent alternatives, however, he lists about six programs to do what today's giveaway does in just one program.
How is that helpful information?
And today's giveaway is also free so I don't see the point.

I accidentally clicked default for all program types under integration. Although I did not apply the settings, or select integrate, and cancelled out of the dialog, the program applied the settings and I cannot deselect anything. Restoring the defaults did NOT restore the default associations. Neither did restarting the program or rebooting. How do I undo these associations so I can set only those I want?

Love Zoner, I had build 5 so I just upgraded to build 7, thanks. I have one question, after the update I see I have a 32 bit AND a 64 bit version installed, both work and both state build 7. Is there anyway to uninstall the 32 bit version without messing up the 64 bit install?

What an excellent program! I spent the first fifteen years of my life as a professional photographer. What we could have accomplished in half the time back then with the types of technical advances that we see today. The program is easy to use and follows through with the touch ups that you put into each photograph.

I'm a skeptical professional software engineer, but after trying this the last time around I was very impressed.

I like how easy it is to see the Exif info for each picture, and the default black background is superb for visual accessibility (easy on the eyes).

Just do it, if you don't like it you can always uninstall!

So happy to see this offering. Some time ago, I had the free version, but due to the "blue screen of death", I lost it. Downloaded to Win XP Pro-Quad core and download went smooth, no problems. However, NORTON SONAR belched really good and dump the program into dump file. I received an error of we231.tmp. Just on the likelihood that someone else runs into this ----the Whiterabbit on GAOTD/Game(Rise of Atlantis) posted some tips on trying to resolve problems if we had them while trying to install program. Thought his post very informative and for you to look at them if problems do arise. Thanks Whiterabbit!!!!!!! My solution was to turnoff my Norton for period of time to install and that did the trick for the game as well as this program. There are other suggestions for you. Now, am happy to get this program again. Thank you GAOTD and Zoner. Also, present representative here to answer question and to offer help says alot about the product. Thanks for being here. Have a good day all. :0)

Well, this is a bit disappointing. Downloaded and installed, opened and it looked really terrific - for a few seconds. I then received a message that "Zoner Photo Studio 14 had stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program and notify your if a solution becomes available".

Using a fairly new install of Win 7 Pro 32 bit on a duel core machine. Not much software installed yet. Heaps of Ram and a new 1 TB drive. No warning messages from my ESET NOD security and Windows security is turned off.

I've rebooted and it is still crashing.

Any suggestions as to why this might be happening?

I have used this program for a while now. You can view most image types including PSD images. It also gives you thumbnails for AI and EPS images which many programs do not. The program loads fast and I haven't had any errors with it either.

I go through a lot of images and I wish the thumbnail sizes were a bit bigger (Max width is 160px). The ability to view fonts would be nice as well. Since the pro version allows the ability to add photoshop plus-ins why not add the ability to view photoshop brushes.

This has been one of the best GAOTD experiences ever. Quality software, responsive company rep to answer questions, easy download/install, the program worked right the first time. And thoughtful, useful comments from users.

The program: Attractive interface, FAST!, good, intuitive presentation. EXIF info displayed in the viewer. Right clicking on the image gives quick access to a really useful list of tools.

Here's something that caught my attention right away: I was browsing a folder of photos, and it was showing every photo twice. I was momentarily confused, but then realized it was reading my NEF files (Nikon RAW) *instantly*, as fast as the jpg thumbs. OK, I'm hooked.

My only complaints so far: no support for layers; and I agree that there should be a way to strip out the EXIF info.

I use Photoshop and GIMP, but it looks like about 90% of what I need is in Zoner, which is faster and easier to use.

I basically like this program.
The installation was painless & the browser opened with speed and ease. I used custom install & left out the start menu files. I probably will not pay the pro price.
I would probably use it as an organizer as the home version is quite limited as to it's functions. I'm a Paint Shop Pro die hard and There has been no other graphics program that I have found that does what PSP can do. The possibilities are endless.

To all of you who said yesterday that Exif info should be deleted to protect the privacy, well, half of the Zoner functions will not be available to you and without exif info on your pictures you can not search or sort or edit by those fields.

Exif info is more valuable to a picture than a privacy concern.

Pictures without exif info have no meaning or character or value or historical accuracy.

Zoner software is great for editing or sorting or searching among your pictures with exif info on them.

#5 I own the Pro version in 64bit. In that version you can not use plugins. Here is what the help file says about 64bit version:

"The 64-bit version speeds up work with the program and makes it possible to work with larger pictures. On the other hand, some program functions do not work in 64 bits and so are unavailable. The 64-bit version does not contain:

· the Media Archive

· assigning of GPS coordinates using Google Earth

· 64-bit 8bf plugin modules"

These limitations are something to consider if you purchase the program.

I used to use the free XnView until I came across Zoner Studio 14 here. I switched and like Zoner Studio much better. However, often (not all the time) in organizing photos, I kept having to click the Windows 7 User Account Control (UAC) permissions. I tried running as administrator, and not. Still same prompts for every single file move. This made moving files tedious with lots of extra delays and clicks. Maybe this new version won't do that. It's not something I can test in one day, as it doesn't always happen. It may be more likely when sorting files on external drives. Anyway, I started using the giveaway for Ashampoo's Photo Commander 8 (and eventually purchased Photo Commander 10) because it does not have this UAC prompt I got with XnView and Zoner Studio. Of all these similar programs, Zoner has the nicest, cleanest user interface (UI) in my opinion. So, I'll try this new build out over the next few days and see. Thanks for sharing the update gaotd and Zoner!

Zoner Photo Studio is a photo management program, similar to ACDSee, and a very good one. It's not primarily an image editor, although it has those functions. I have the paid pro versions of both Zoner and ACDSee, and I have gone back and forth between them over the years, but currently I prefer Zoner a little. Thanks to Zoner for giving away this great program on GoTD - I have recommended it to many friends. The previous giveaways and this one have all been the Home version. The last one was version 14 build 4.

As a PS owner, I don't need this; however, it seems that it can edit GPS info, so does it access other EXIF info? If it does, it offers what yesterday's offering lacked - other features. This does all your photo stuff and if it allows EXIF info to be viewed and edited, it sounds lovely for anyone without a photomanager.

Due to a free update, I now have Build 5 of both the 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Zoner Photo Studio 14, and it says no more updates are available. Does today's GAOTD also include both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions? How do I find out the difference between Builds 5 and 7, and is Build 7 a stable release yet or is it still in Beta? I would like to know what I'm getting before trading in what I already have. Thank you.

Some more answers for you!

Mitch (#26): The 64-bit version is faster and deals better with the very large image files that are becoming more common today. However, a couple of functions cannot be included in the 64-bit version since the 3rd-party technologies behind them do not, or never will, support 64 bits. This mainly just affects the Media Archive and Show in Google Earth functions. If you don't use them, you can ignore the 32 bit version.

Neil (#28): This is a PRO-only function, sorry about the PRO-oriented help! See comment #31 for links to information on what features are PRO-only.

David (#36): See comment #31.

Colin (#29): No need to uninstall anything, you are fine. For the registration question, see reply #19.

TK (#37): Yes, Build 7 is not in the list on our site yet. However it's been intensively tested and we're confident that it won't leave you feeling like beta testers!

Have downloaded and attempted to install twice now. Get beyond the screen that says it is activated; then my computer says the file is corrupt and I need to download a new one. This has occurred two times.

Don't think I'll go for a 3rd unless someone can give me a clue or two.

Running as administrator, windows 64, Vista, firefox, with GAOTD Outpost Security Suite (which gives me a malware warning).

I bought the "pro" version last time around and have been using it ever since. It was well worth the price (discounted of course)for just the panoramic feature alone (which I use all the time).

*Easy to install
*Easy to use

For anyone interested in panorams, take your shots with a 60% overlay and you should obtain excellent results. The program even allows control over the "stitch" reference points.
