Wondershare PPT to Video is really an incredible tool that can converts PPT slides to DVD without making any loss of the data. It also offers several options to add various types of animations and backgrounds that make it unique and interesting.

This software is really awesome. i was also in great trouble when I have to convert my PPT files to DVD but by using this amazing software I am really very happy. It converts the PPt files amazingly and also not make any data loss. I have tried this and finds it magical.
Thanks.

Clearly the people who are questioning the need for this software are not in the field of education. I teach a lot using powerpoints. I love the fact that I can convert it and put it on my iPod so the students that were absent or who need to review that topic can just watch the iPod. I love the software. Thanks GOTD!!

#5 did a pretty good job of describing the options (it actually has a few more). The video size adjustment, apart from the resolution, is for viewing on a TV, to account for overscan. You can optimize for text or image quality. It doesn't contain any viruses or trojans. It calls PowerPoint, passes parameters to a network-enabled process, and injects processes into PowerPoint (this may be the reason for some of the alerts). I wasn't able to generate a video file because it always crashed PowerPoint on my system.

chuck, grow up. I don't see any value in this application, but others do, so I don't whine about the fact that GOTD offers it. I couldn't care less that you don't like screensavers. GOTD has never offered them more than once per week that I'm aware of, and has only offered them on weekends. Some people like them as screensavers. I only use them as standalone animations. Some haven't been so hot, but there have been a number of nice ones. My only complaint is that the 3D screensavers have all been DX8; I'd like to see DX9 3D screensavers. The "free" screensavers on the Internet are filled with every kind of spyware and adware imaginable. I'd much rather have a nice 3D screensaver than software that's useless, or too buggy to use. If you have to go to other websites to get their opinion of GOTD, then you really need to get a life. And the last time that you asked the screensaver-haters to give you a thumbs-up, you got a very heavy thumbs-down.

I was looking for this for quite some time. Atlast I can show "on the spot sideshow presentations of my various product brochures. Also is very good to use the same as a teaching aid for school students where heavy equipment is cumbersome to operate or unavailable.

Thanks so much

I have been playing with this software off and on all day. This ppt to ipod is great!! I called several coworkers and had 4 takers. This is terrific software!!!!! We need more ipod software, please?

#61 Go to Epinions.com, Cnet reviews, and a few other websites. You will read that the screensaver offers on here has made GAOTD less popular. The majority has spoken. Screensavers are out of the question. The internet is full of free screensavers.

This is brilliant. Seriously. Many folks here don't think outside the box. You know how hard it is to get someone to watch even a 2 minute sales presentation? When you open your laptop and say, watch this, then their eyes glaze over. Instead, I pull out an ipod (which is friendly to everyone...it's an ENTERTAINMENT device)! Then boom! They are receptive. I showed a new prospect a quickie presentation this afternoon on my ipod after I used this software, and they bought. So yes, there is a use for this. And I am glad to have found it, especially free. This one's great. So thanks, GOTD!

Same problem with this as /all/ the other ppt converters I've looked at lately. I would *have to have M$ Powerpoint to use it*.
I don't, and won't.

That said, jeeze, go to http://www.smallvideosoft.com/ and grab the video screen recorder and the video to ipod converter for free.

Only way I can think of for me to get a powerpoint presentation to video is play it with a standalone player (there is one, right??) and record it using the free Freez Screen Video Capture to avi. from there all formats are just a conversion away....

Sorry, it's like Bufferzone Pro- Windows XP with Service Pack 2 minimum. No reason to bother downloading- that's why I go to the program's home page before downloading, so I catch little details like that first rather than after.

I have Win2k Pro SP4 and don't plan on switching anytime soon unless somebody wants to send me some seriously upgraded hardware gratis.

Disability ain't enough even at today's prices to get a system upgrade without scrimping a looong time. And nothing less is worth installing XP on.

To Avast users: Avast will falsely detect a Trojan due to the heuristics used by that AV software. Notice that it calls it Win32:Trojan-gen (Other). In other words, it detects code that it considers suspect in setup.exe but cannot identify the trojan. It is what is known as a 'false positive'. There is nothing unsafe about this Setup program.

Having made a quick test of the program on a couple of PowerPoint shows at random (one was a .ppt and one was a .pps), I found that they played adequately in Quicktime, though the .pps did not appear to have converted perfectly - there were some frames which flashed out of order and a longish blank screen at the start. It was not, however, a show that I had created, so I don't know what 'tricks' had been used in it. A fairly ordinary marketing presentation worked just fine.

MP4 files play in Quicktime and in the VLC player. See the following article: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_mp4_files.cfm

There are also converters available, I believe (if you don't feel tempted by the Wondershare PPT to Video package, of which I suspect this is a cut down version.

Well, lessee. Some people don't realize that PPT can also make voice-overs, so if this PPT-video converter can keep the audio intact, you have a video.

Who needs this software? Anyone that uses automated video, ie PPT movies (like flash movies). A company that would like to spend $150 on 5 DVD players and one $300 computer, than $1500 of 5 computers.

Y'see, once you convert to almost any video format, there's software to burn it to DVD, and is usually free or bundled (Nero burns MP4). MP4 video at 640x480 looks excellent on DVD.

#3 -- The thumbs up/down numbers are manipulated. When they post crappy software, they always show a huge number of positives and a few negatives, all while only 10 posts have been made and they are all negative.

Your best bet is to catch the 15 min review and to read through these posts before downloading anything.

kevin(#51): You're obviously very young or just not very bright. Anyone can "moderate" a site with a filter that flags established, oft-used offensive words. Look at all the people who sneak profanity on here by scrambling letters or using asterisks in place of letters. It takes dedication to sit down and weed out garbage. The
GOTD staff deserves a vacation just like everyone else. But it's my personal opinion that this site is dying as a result of all the useless, childish nonsense posted here and the staff's inability or unwillingness to do anything about it. I'm not talking about posts that ask for help or suggest alternative software, but the daily flood of repetitive crap that gets put here just to stroke the ego of the person that posted it. I think developers and intelligent, emotionally mature visitors have been driven away by a few idiots.
Those people inflating the "thumbs-up" numbers and shamelessly sucking up because they think this is a freeware site that will go away if its feelings are hurt are not helping, either, though their intentions may be noble.
I realize this should be discussed in the forums. In fact, it has been and still is being discussed there. But the people who need to wake up and grow up are here in this section, where they can be sure that their comments will be posted, no matter how stupid or self-serving they are. The forums are moderated and that scares them.

About the TROYAN ANTIVIRUS found with the best antivirus: AVAST

Besides that this local download system uses a lot of javascript that does not belong to this local site (unsecure) , it is not their fault.

It is Wondershare downloading process that puts the troyan while downloading. That is the reason for not finding the troyan inside the program. It is inside the downloader...

Proof: I tried to download directly from Wondershare Try option at their site and before starting the download, Avast claims of finding a Troyan and asks to abort the connection.

That said, please, Wondershare: I haven't had any trouble with your previous programs, so please, cut the troyan now unless you don't want people to download this program today.

And, please, GAOTD, change of dowloading server, the program is very difficult to use securely!

In the old days, Internet Explorer 3 required 50 MB of free space on a hard drive for installation. After IE 3 was installed it took up approximately 12 to 15 MB. What the he..?

I could hardly think of any reason for such a large free space requirement other than a program sporting absolutely the worst programming imaginable.

Finally I have found something worse.

"Wondershare PPT to iPod" requires 2 GB of free space.

Like some others, I can not conceive of any circumstance where I would ever want to see a "Power Point" (PP)presentation on a small screen "iPod". To make a "PP" presentation visible one would need additional equipment ie a much larger screen, docking equipment, and probably AC electrical supply. There goes the portability. One could carry a small projector easier than several pieces of equipment and protection for a liquid crystal screen.

The people that produced this program have far too much free time on their hands.

#57: Norton rarely finds any viruses unless its one that crashes an entire network. I'm not kidding—I've had the experience. Norton is terribly unreliable. And what's with the 2 GB free hard drive space?

As for the software, this is useless: get a screen recorder, and use one of the video converters provided many times here previously.

Avast, AVG, Ad-aware, and one of my own anti-virus softwares all have detected Trojans (that's right: plural.) in this download.

Do people really spend approximately $30-a-pop to get such specialized converters as these: PPT to iPod, PPT to Video, PPT to DVD, PPT to Flash (Standard?)? Why wouldn't a person needing these just get the PPT to Video (for example) and use a video-to-everything converter to convert it to whatever they need? Seems this company and probably others are trying to take advantage of users who don't know much about such software. Am I missing something here?

hello everyone explorator here reporting:

i won't download this unless and until i am guaranteed that the virus has been removed and the download is safe

i've read the comments and it seems a fair number of people have complained about a virus found by Avast, i wonder if other antivirus programs found one too?

anyway, to #14 and #54 i recently purchased a 500 gig western digital external hard disk as my hd was full with programs i downloaded from GAOTD and other sites, but you are responsible for deciding which progms you wish to download of course, not all of them offered by GAOTd will serve your individual needs and/or interest but i have downloaded many a great programs from this site, the wondershare ones are all excellent stuff, a few weeks back they offered "wondershare photo story platinum" and "wondershare audio converter" which i've kept on my desktop to this day,

thus, in answer to the questions of others about the use of this product, i imagine that one can share presentations with coworkers, for example you can view it while on travel, or let's just say that you missed a presentation, you can download the file to ipod and not miss it, i'm sure there are other benefits to today's offer though?

ok take care everyone

from new york

To #14,37, 39: What is wrong with having giveaways that support ipod? Most of the people I know have an Apple ipod. People have bought gazillions of ipods since implementation. I have had one for over 2 years now. Lot of people dont use the converters that are offered either, but converters are offered for those that do. BTW, a chm to pdf converter has been offered before. I like converters, security software, games, and anything that helps me take advantage of my ipods capabilities. I dont like screensavers, but there are probably a few who do. For them, a annual screensaver or 2 is tolerable. This site is a free service, if anyone, including me doesnt like it, we dont have to let the door hit us on the way out!

Why am I looking at an advertisement that says "Do not click unless you are 18"? I know GOTD has to pay the bills and advertising plays an important part of it, but prominent adult ads have no place on a website for general audiences.

I predict that GOTD will see a bump up in advertising revenue. I also predict that, if the data could be collected, we'd see under 18 visitors grossly over-represented proportionally. I'm afraid I have to remove GOTD from my list of recommended sites. I don't want to be responsible for underage click-throughs.

My opinion does not change if it turns out that the ad is for something relatively benign (I leave it for others to check, although I hope they don't). It doesn't matter what's on the other end. What matters is that GOTD is providing the enticement to underage visitors to a site that I thought was, if not rated P or PG, then no more than PG-13.

Well said scott!! GAOTD's efforts lately have often ignored the very people who keep coming back to this site because it used to be very useful and almost so on a daily basis. Now, they seem to be playing to a small segment interested in iPhones, iPods and obsure video formatting. PowerPoint on a large screen is barely tolerable for a captive audience. Why in the world would a programmer spend time sucking a large screen application down to the tiny size of an iPod?!! Why in the world would anyone want to watch it voluntarily??

First of all, a big thank you to the GOTD team! Secondly, thanks to Wondershare for allowing us to use your software!

Easy to activate and install. The software steps you through a series of screens where you can do such things as selecting the file to encode, video size (max 640x480), allows you to select if you want better text or image quality, and a few other basic choices. There are only two video encoding choices, XviD and H.264 and a single audio choice.

Once encoding choices and timing selections are made (defaults to 6 seconds per slide but does not override timings the user has preset) the conversion was pretty quick, a bit less than 2 minutes for a 12 slide presentation or so. The final video was nice and clear, retaining all transitions and animations (didn't test one with embedded video or anything fancy like that though) with a frugal final file size of only 1.2M. Very suitable for copying not only to an iPod, but even a floppy disk (remember those?).

For those complaining about the usefulness of this title, you aren't using your imaginations! There are quite a few things you can do with this other than giving tiny screen presentations. You can make vacation slide shows to share by email, web, YouTube, Compile your favorite jokes or funny pictures found on the web, etc. etc. etc. No need to learn some fancy new video slide show software.

If you don't have the $$$$ PowerPoint you can always use http://www.openoffice.org Open Office's PPT export function with (I am guessing) the same results.

Again, thanks to GOTD and Wondershare! A nice little tool to keep in the toolbox!

Though many of us would find this program useless, I guess GAOTD must also cater to the needs of the few. Seems like a great program for those who can use it. Maybe Power Point can be used as a plugin for those who need it full sized later, or maybe it's easily transportable like a flash drve. Beyond my means to understand its full value. Thanks anyway

This software sadly perpetuates the myth that PowerPoint creates presentations. It does not. People talking and interacting with others is what a presentation is about. If the slides contain enough information to get the message across then they hi-jack and sabotage the real presenter.
