thanks GOTD to bring us another nice DVD converter at the end of the year. Deliberately, I checked all the DVD ripper/converter programs I got from GOTD (4 in total :D) but the only one I mostly used was WinX's (http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/winx-dvdripper-platinum/) which is fast and feature-rich and can meet my daily DVD ripping needs.

Nice give away today. I have a laptop and a desktop. My desktop is a monster PC and I do some work projects on it. I am very picky about the software I run on it. This software seems worth putting on it. Looking forward to see if it really meets the claims it states in the description. I have all my DVD's ripped to digital format to play on my home entertainment setup. I like to keep the physical disks in storage. It was always a headache with Disney movies, which was super frustrating, because I am not doing anything illegal. I bought the movie, want to rip a copy for my safe keeping and put the DVD in a box in my closet. Hopefully this will make life easier.

I've liked this program before, used it and still have it installed on my computer (an older version). The $19.95 offer for the Family Version (5 users) was too good to pass up. Since I liked the program, and do like to support the businesses that support GOTD I bought it (though I didn't buy the company - and if you remember that Remington ad you're probably my age or older!)

Well can't say I'm impressed.

53 min MKV converted to 2500kbps mp4 AVI took 39min to complete with the system running at a average of 99% CPU and a 3% load on the GPU.
BUT that was only after disabling the subtitles that caused it to crash with "file not found"

The exact same file WITH the subtitles took 31min with a 3 year old version of Aiseesoft BluRay Ripper running at a average CPU load of 44% and a 2% load on the GPU.

Don't think I'll be bothering with keeping it let alone "paying" for updates to something that isn't up to beating 3 to 4 year old software.

As always appreciate the chance the try this program for free, and really like the 20.00 Lifetime upgrade option, and with this very reasonably priced offer, was really hoping this program would replace my older Wondershare Video Downloader & Converter and Freemake Downloader & Converter I now use, but sadly, unless I have missed something, but after easily downloading program in my Windows 7 64 Bit Laptop, have not been that impressed at all.

Wonderfox 2.5 OUT OF 5 STARS
Pros: Good variety of saving options, pretty video resolution quality too.

(Cons/problems): Needs a Direct Download online Plugin or Pop Up helper to make downloading easier like other similiar good downloaders and converters etc!
Limited online video sites that it would work on for me,Did not work on Vevo.com,Dailymotion and many other video sites tried.
*Tested a short 4 Min video from Youtube: Very very slow conversion compared to my Wondershare & FREE Freemake Converter, Wonderfox took 15 mins or more on this 1 video, my other two downloaders only takes approx 2-4 mins to download and convert to mp4 HD.
*After converting two Youtube videos in very Slow Wonderfox, even after tried changing options, both videos have No Audio in conversion output!
*Many Wonderfox videos will not even download, keep giving me same errors: (ERROR-PLEASE CHECK YOUR CONNECTION). Also keep getting Error; (INVALID URL, EVEN THOUGH SAME VIDEOS DOWNLOAD FINE IN OTHER PROGRAMS)
So Wonderfox could possibly be a good program, but just too many problems or flaws in design for me, in compared to my other 2 Fav programs I use, there is no comparison. Cannot even justifying paying the 20.00 for a program that does not work properly, like my other similiar programs etc. Too Bad too!

Hi Everyone,
I downloaded and installed WonderFox DVD Video Converter 7.5 On my test PC, AMD 6 Core Black Edition 3.4GHZ CPU on a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Ver. 4.0 MB Running Windows 7 64Bit with 16GB RAM with no problems at all, Registration was fast and easy.
The program works as advertised and does all it is supposed to very well and with no errors to date! I have no use for watching a movie on my cell phone on that little screen? I am over 60 and as stated above by another user of my vintage, I want easy to read and understand menus! But, It is not bad! I am able to find my way around the program and manly I just want to convert a video I may have downloaded from any of 100 sources and put it on a DVD to watch on my Big Screen TV etc. For that this program is a keeper and works very well.
I have one thing to note: I had a previous version of this program from GOTD! downloaded 10-12-13 Ver. 4.7.1 One issue is that version is NO Longer registered? So! I am not sure how long this giveaway is good for? 1 year? It is ether free? Or, Its Not!
The other issue is that in looking at both program side by side as far and the layout and menus (If you can call them that?) Are identical! Yes there is a few more options as to what you can output your video too! But! Like I said I am really Not interested in video to put on my cell phone? So, I do not see much of anything different in this upgrade?
It is a great program and I am sure some of the younger generation will like and use it a lot! For me? And what I use it for, I do not think I would pay even the discount of (What the WEB site shows as $39.95!) The offer of 19.95 shown on the top of this page for GOTD Users? That I may do? If I can find it? LOL! (o;
I give WonderFox DVD Video Converter 7.5 2 Thumbs Up! It is a Good program! Just a little pricy for me! For what I would use it for? I have several other video editors for Moves and Video Cameras like Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, That has served me well for many years and still is! No need to upgrade! But, This is a new technology for a new world and It does a very good job and I like it! But, Just not $60.00 dollars worth of like! (o;
And of course 2 thumbs up! for GOTD! As always thank you for you all! For your hard work in bringing us geeks great programs everyday! for us to Test, Revue, Play With, and Keep for as long as well like! (In most cases!) For FREE! Thank you!
To Everyone, Have a Very Happy Holiday! & Joyful and Prosperous New Year! Marry Christmas! Rick D.

Hi Everyone,
Just an update! I had to manually uninstall version 4.7.1 as this new version did NOT Replace? Or, UN-Install the old version? No Problem! I also took advantage of the $19.95 dollar discount for GOTD Users at the top of this WEB Page and everything worked great! I now have a permanent license for 5 PC's in my house etc.! For LIFE! With ALL Future Upgrades! Great deal! Take Care Everyone! Always Have FUN!!! Rick D.

Downloaded and installed fine. Copied on of my DVD movies and reduced output size to 4.7 GB then copied to single-layer blank DVD. The results was a movie with the beginning missing. What a waste of time! Any comments?

This software works fine on my Windows 7 computer, but even when I install as administrator on my Windows 8.1 computer, I can't find where it downloads the files that I download from YouTube. It says it's in C:\Users\ASUS\Sylvia\Documents\WonderFox Soft\WonderFox DVD Video Converter\OutputVideo, but there is no such file. The only way that I can get to the downloaded file is to right click where it shows what I downloaded on the face of the program and choose to show the source file. Then it takes me to where it is, so then I have to copy and paste it to somewhere that will show up such as My Videos. I would hope that you will fix this as it's a great program, but doesn't work right on Windows 8. At least I can use it to save videos, but I wish it would work the way it's supposed to.

Hi Sylvia,

The path "C:\Users\ASUS\Sylvia\Documents\WonderFox Soft\WonderFox DVD Video Converter\OutputVideo" is the position for the converted files.

You can get to the Downloaded Video list and then click the "Open folder" button to check your downloaded videos.

Downloaded/Installed/Activated with no problems on my Win7x64 machine. What can I say? This seems to be a very nice piece of software. I just ripped/converted 3 movies in 2 formats (MP4 and DVD) and they both look wonderful. Took about 30/40 minutes apiece. The interface was nice and easy to navigate. I can't think of any "cons" except for the quibble that I'd liked to have had a TS_ option for output. A quibble I know. Kudos to Wondersoft and GAOTD for making this excellent program.

I am a longtime follower of GAOTD but this is the first time I have been compelled to leave a comment here. You have had a lot of video rippers and convertors and I have only had it a very short time but I love the interface on this. I am very happy about this program. I used to download videos from Youtube and it is great. Great job to Wonderfox for a great program. I will recommend this to friends and family. Thanks again.

Is this one of the many such programs that is actually from that list of Chinese companies selling essentially the same products under about 30+ company names ? (Published here previously, though I don't have that list readily to hand at the moment.)

It is unlikely this would also handle Blu-Rays.

As far as DVDs go, while it may not have all the bells and whistles of some other programs like this one -- and I really don't care, because I have zero interest in watching a movie on my phone, or other tiny-screen device -- it is very seldom that I need to reach for anything stronger than my 2012 edition of DVD-Fab. That program has been updated umpteen times since, before being rendered all but unavailable in the U.S., but the extent of copy-protection removal it had *back then* still works for something like 99 % of the DVDs I encounter.

To the person that wrote the following

This must be installed “as administrator”, otherwise you end up with a dog’s breakfast: it appears that you get a simple “installation failed” message, but what actually happens is it gets installed into one of your user\appdata folders. Before then trying again “as administrator”, you have to waste time manually removing it (since uninstallers like revo don’t work, as they don’t recognise it as an installation).

(All Wonderfox products behave this way, as I learnt the hard way.)

This did not resolve the issue still gives errors upon opening.

Hi BenAsp,

The correct installation folder is "\Program File (x86)", and it will not create any file to "\appdata" folder.

Installation failed means you have no enough system privileges, please switch to Administrator account or Standard account, and then try again.

I really want to SEE a MENU (Words) across the top of the dialogue window (The same as ALL the other Window programs. I gave the program a "thumbs up" because it did what I wanted it to do - BUT - it was "hunt & peck" until I was finished. We older "dogs" usually have the money to spend on extraneus software, but, I don't spend mine on something I have to "re-learn" at 60+ I have lived, worked-in, & help developed almost every version of DOS, Windows, Apple, Mac (a computer geek/nerd/tech) & I am NOT going to ?guess? at what every picture means. Even if it is an "add-on" (meaning - it does not have to be visible for younger "Metro" users) but, under-neath one of those menus - WHY NOT put an option for a Menu bar in WORDS - Just have a look at 99% of all Windows software. If you use the a-typical menu - Old farts like me might be able to understand, use & BUY your software, and it might be worth the $60 you're asking. Thank you for your version today & I hope (through my rant) my suggestion(s) helps, & thank you GOTD everyday.

I have version 5.1 of this application from a previous give-away (thanks to Wonderfox). However, I will be passing on today's offer, as the developer apparently still can't see fit (two major upgrades later) to offer HTML5 web video as an output option. It's hardly as this is an obscure or particularly new format. Thanks, anyway.

Hi BenAsp,

Thanks for your great suggestion, and it is actually very useful tip. WonderFox DVD Video Converter has WebM format for HTML5 as the output option, but we will keep working on more output options for HTML5 web video and add it to our developing schedule.

BTW, an FTP upload automatically after conversion feature will be added to next version of HD Video Converter Factory PRO. Together, along with new HTML5 output profile, they will enables your job easier.

The program, when installed and acknowledged by the Web site as activated, will only rip 15 minutes of a DVD. I base this on a nag screen which asks you to register for U$35 giving you unlimited features.

Note also that these softwares need regular updating because the spy vs spy world of DRM often changes making obsolete older ripping programs.

Finally, there is no mention if this can rip BD's or only DVD's.

Hi Paul,

This software is only for DVD. WonderFox DVD Video Converter is able to back up any encrypted DVDs including DVD with CSS, region code, RCE, Sony ArccOS, UOPs, Disney X-project DRM and the latest encryption techniques. DVDs released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Inc., Warner Bros Pictures, Universal Pictures, UNITED ARTISTS, 20th Century Fox and The Walt Disney Company are all supported. Furthermore, the DECSS technology is continuously updated to handle new commercial DVDs.

"...this software has been updated to v7.5 with lot of updates..."

I love GOTD and recommend it daily to clients, friends and family - but today's offering is version 7.5?

According to the author's website, the current version is 8.5 and that suggests IT has a MANY MORE updates than version 7.5!

Speaking of version 8.5 - anyone can download Video Converter Factory Pro 8.5 with FREE license at another website - one where geeks are major.

Just sayin'

My opinion is that WonderFox is giving away their software to get people using it & buying a license for unlimited upgrades after realizing how easy and useful the program(s) are. I purchased (at GOTD discounted prices) licenses for both DVD Ripper Pro and today's Video Converter. They have to make money somehow, why not buy a license to help WonderFox stay in business and keep lifetime upgrades around longer? :)

As you you mentioned Martin, download of Video Converter Factory Pro 8.5 with FREE license at another website is available...
Limitations: The Giveaway Version doesn't support free upgrades. Should you upgrade it will revert back to shareware.

Great Product
I purchased the DVD Ripper Pro version last giveaway. This version is nearly the same as the Pro version. It worked great and fast with with my old i7 and ATI Crossfire cards and seems to be even better with my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745!

The interface is fresh and intuitive and allows me to rip to my directly to my "Named" NAS server. It rips to may formats (my favorites are MKV and MP4 with 6 channel audio)

Yes there are free products out there and most do an "OK" job but with the Wonderfox Ripper/Converter I can convert a DVD in 10-20 minutes in great resolution for My tablet or 25-30 minutes for viewing on my large monitors around the house with almost no loss. And with a cost of $20 it's a great deal.

Normally $59.95 for Lifetime upgrades on 1 pc or $119.95 for use on 5 pcs with Lifetime upgrades.
Website is showing a special of $39.95 for the 1 pc license or $49.95 for the 5 pc license
While I currently do not have a need for the program, those prices are exceptional. You do not want
the 1 year subscription as that is a total waste of money. If you use the program, I would suggest either the
1 or 5 pc license while they are dirt cheap.

Thanks Wonderfox and GOTD.
Installed and activated.
Tested with a sample video that needs rotation and conversion from MOV to MP4.

Result: Excellent.

Simple easy to use.
Very fast conversion.
Ability to do rotation of video. Not many video conversion software has this feature.
Why do you need this feature?
Because we use compact cameras that we turn vertically to capture video of a subject.
When you transfer the video to the PC, you notice the whole video is sideways.
If you have only some parts of your video sideways, this software can let you select only the relevant parts that need rotation.

Downloaded and installed easily on Win7-64bit.
Downloaded a youtube video - easy.
Cropped the file in a few way - not as easy as I would want it to be (no audio in the preview, timing options are only relative to the length of the remaining section).
Will keep it, do not have an alternative to edit videos.
Thanks!

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't see any way to convert a commercial DVD to an ISO file. You can convert sections of the DVD to VOB files (and tons of other output formats), but then you evidently have to step through other hoops to burn that to a DVD if you just want to "Backup" your DVD for safe keeping.

Is there an easier way to simply "Backup" a DVD to another DVD this with this software?

Thanks in advance for your comments...

Download online video from YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, Liveleak, Metacafe and other popular online video sources. 2. Enable to choose and download high-definition video source from YouTube. 3. Today's Wonderfox latest-version giveaway is clearly going to be of relevance to those concerned about the way "old" converters (from any developer) may not be able to deal with ever-changing DRM initiatives -- which kind of makes a nonsense of post #1, unless the writer means that he has meticulously updated the program every few months during his years of usage so as to contend with frequent DRM revisions.

Interesting to see another converter today. Will up-voting for Wonderfox manage to exceed GOTD 2014's record 1,166 thumbs up for Tipard Studio on December 8 last . . . or does Wonderfox have more sense? Hope so.

Thanks then, GOTD, and thanks, Wonderfox. Today's giveaway is an excellent adjunct to my own freeware favorite from videotovideo.org, software which by virtue of its country of origin has to be much more reticent than Wonderfox where the contentious topic of DRM is concerned.
