Uninstalled prior version 5.0.5 (which worked fine) via Revo. D/L & installed this offer which failed miserably. YT conversion failed after analyzing URL.

No profiles are listed. Program hangs at this point (ignores mouse clicks & keyboard presses). Must use Task Manager to close (status is "Running").

Ran System Restore to return to previous version mentioned above. It no longer works for YT or any other files, displaying same symptoms as 5.5.2! Thus, I no longer have access to any version.

Running XP with SP2 and meet all other requirements -- i.e. 5.0.5 was functional prior to this version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I did try re-installing with same results in each case.

A really excellent company that has always made beautiful graphical interfaces that are intuitive and code that has never bugged out on my machines. The Halloween giveaway with the extra freeware grabs shows this companies love for present and future customer relations. Good product pricing. I always think of WinX first before any other for my needs.

#39 aj, i'm also using win 7 64 bit. i tried some more last night and even now, this morning. it always works great with a great result.

'years ago' i had something that wouldn't work in my photoshop. i eventually found out that there was some other program that was somehow corrupting something in the photoshop program. do you have a laptop or other computer that you could try this program with to see if it would work there?

I used to use savefrom.net but then found clipgrab. I have never been happier. It instantly recognizes videos and offers various resolutions. It can even download webM format. Love it and it comes highly recommended from me. As for this giveaway, thanks but no thanks.

#36 hunter, I'm glad pasting works for you. I don't know why cntl-v or right click paste won't work for me. The paste option is not greyed out just doesn't work and the company wrote:

"Sorry for the inconvenience!

We will fix this issue a few days later, because YouTube has changed the way of encryption recently."

Of course, it wasn't fixed in the newest release which I downloaded, so I'm not happy. I'm using win7 64 bit, what are you using?

license code on Digiarty home page will not work for me.
Format of license code is:
AF-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX
Result: Invalid License code

program wants the license code format:
AF-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX
so I changed the given code to this format.
would not work either!

anybody else with this problem?
or even a solution ?

#6: "I had a video sitting on my computer and no matter what, VLC would never play the audio, I presume I didn’t have the right codecs loaded, but anyhow, I converted it and got the sound back with VLC. To me, that makes this program worth keeping."

VLC is pretty much self-contained -- it should work [or not] regardless of what you've installed, which is why it's become so popular. Running your video through a converter gave you a new file with new audio & video encoding, & this was something VLC could understand. One thing about converters like WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe, is that they'll work with almost any kind of input video. The downside, besides the time & effort spent, is that converting audio & video loses some quality [it's impossible not to], though hopefully not too much.

"However, maybe its my imagination, but the stated fast processing just wasn’t there, still took an hour and 15 minutes on the low quality setting. I dread to try it again on the high quality setting because the time might be insufferable."

There are some things that will help, like having your input & output videos on different drives, killing unneeded processes, turning off AV realtime scanning, but the biggest increases in encoding fps are found when you can utilize your graphics hardware, although that often can lead to quality loss, so be careful & test to make sure the result is OK for you, before committing to a longer conversion. If you've got Intel graphics, Google for Quick Sync encoders or converters -- for ATI/AMD it's OpenCL [OCL] &/or Stream -- for Nvidia it's CUDA.

For AMD there's A's Video Converter [ http://www.videohelp.com/tools/As-Video-Converter ], which depending on your in/out formats can be downright amazing. It's supposed to handle Intel Quick Sync too, but I've never had anything running just Intel graphics [i.e. no video card] to try it on.

* * *

#19: "The last time I downloaded this converter here, after converting several videos I eventually realised that the rendered MP4′s had their sound and vision out of sync. I don’t feel inclined to repeat the mistake, so I won’t be trying this out."

Some video formats don't really tie the audio & video together, relying basically on 30 minutes of video & 30 minutes of audio each arriving at that 30 minute mark at the same time. Some players have a setting to skip frames when your PC or laptop is having trouble displaying them fast enough, & some graphics drivers like AMD's Catalyst Control Center have a similar setting.

I've never had problems with WinX apps, but it might be your source isn't indexed causing the problem, or that you're having problems playing the result? That's not to say that if you've found something that works for you you should switch -- only something to maybe explore if you haven't yet found a solution.

* * *

#21: " it went ‘quickly’ and the resulting file is a lot smaller! the original (for a 2 hour 30 min video) was 1,540,559 kb, and the new result is 507.208 kb. that is more than half the file size cut off! "

The WinX software may have used a more efficient encoder [& format] than the original, or you may have reduced the bit rate. A free app called MediaInfo is one way to tell & compare the encoder & settings between the 2 files. If you just reduced the bit rate that's fine too, but beware of any quality loss -- reducing the bit rate throws out some of the data. How much that matters depends on the original, your personal standards, & how & where you watch the video.

* * *

#24: "winX software are nice products but the CPU usage is usually high during operation making it nearly impossible to do anything else on the PC."

With encoders, dating back to the 1st Windows Media Encoder, this is by intent. You're working with an awful lot of data & the idea is to get it done. That's why many video encoding apps have an option to shut down the system once completed -- people wait until the end of the day & run them overnight.

* * *

#29: "Is anyone having the problem of the program not being registered once you exit and re-enter it? The program shows as registered, but upon exit it converts to trail version again. "

#32: "I’m concerned about what alordofchaos #23 says with regard to authentication for standard users.
There’s not a lot of comments today, so could someone confirm that this program activates for only administrative users on their machines?"

.
The registration data as far as I can tell is written into the UserName\ AppData\ Roaming folder -- you need to make sure you have authorization or permissions to write & modify files there. In a win7 admin account I also ran WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe as admin just to register it & had no problems, but I always do that out of habit.

Running an app as admin while logged into a std account doesn't effect the overall security of that account, but you might need admin credentials. I'd guess that once you installed the GOTD you could also navigate to the ... \Roaming\ Diarty folder in Windows Explorer, right click it, & set that folder's permissions for Everyone if you didn't have permission to write to that folder already. Note that again you might need admin authorization to set that, either by logging into an admin account or supplying admin credentials.

#30: "fast encoding… but terrible quality...
— “VRB / CBR” option is greyed out;
— no TWO-PASS option available;
— and no bitrate setting."

.
Multiple passes let the encoder determine more precisely where in the video it can reduce the bit rate, & where it cannot -- otherwise it has to sort of guess to a certain amount. Ideally with the x264 encoder [included in ffmpeg] multiple passes goes along with higher quality settings when quality is important but time to encode is not. If/when that's what someone is after they're most likely better off running x264 from the command line or using a GUI that lets them insert the proper command line flags.

That's not what the WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe is about, at all... it's about easy & relatively quick conversions. I have what is now an older tablet, a Galaxy Tab 2 7, & it does great with square pixel AVC video that's 720 pixels wide, encoded at a bit rate around 1.5. WinX software does that with the same visible quality on the tablet screen as when I've used Nero 14 Plat, Sony Vegas Pro, x264, & a host of other software, & it takes close to the same amount of time [sometimes very little more, sometimes very little less] to do it.

#31: "Users need to take note that this software is incapable of rotating your videos in the edit function.
The software must have this feature."

.
Video is for the most part landscape. With my 1st video capable MP3 player I had to rotate the video to match its primitive screen, but I haven't seen the need since - our Android hardware has always matched the player orientation to how we were holding the device, & scaled it accordingly.

I'm very disappointed in this product. I purchased it and tried to use the youtube converter and downloader. I am unable to paste a url into the dialog box which makes it practically useless. When I entered the url by hand the download was *extremely* slow!!! For example, one video took over 1.5 hours. When I used the online down loader at savefrom.net the same video took 5 minutes. They both ended up the same size and were the same quality. I'm sorry I purchased the software.

I contacted the company about the inability to paste into the dialog box but received a nonresponsive reply.

Take it for free, but there are better converters out there (and free ones too).

I used their Version 5.0.6 before.
This can also rip videos off DVD.

One negative aspect for software developers to remedy in future versions. Users need to take note that this software is incapable of rotating your videos in the edit function.
The software must have this feature.

Hi, this app is nothing but a gadget :

fast encoding... but terrible quality, unless you check the very best — and way too few — settings, that is, to end up with a huge file, since:

— "VRB / CBR" option is greyed out;
— no TWO-PASS option available;
— and no bitrate setting.

So I'll take time, once more & for the Nth time, to remind (probably uselessly, as usual) to the programmers, that the H.264 codec was built, was meant to offer good or even excellent quality at high compression ratios (500 to 1000 kilobits per second), i.e. a relatively light video result in megabytes; condition : TWO-PASS encoding...

... and... that (2-pass encoding : indispensable, & other serious quality settings) is precisely what stubborn gadget programmers keep on ruining, every time ! Sad AND ho-pe-less ! Unfortunetately, "WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe 5.5.2" is "good" for garbage, with no hesitation, just like its tons of useless competitors.

Be aware, this is another one of those softwares that only activates for the user you installed as. I was logged in as a standard user, ran the install.exe as administrator and activated the software.
On next startup as standard user, it showed as trial software. You can re-enter the code and it will activate for the standard user.
If you fail to activate for the standard user before the giveaway ends, you may be stuck always running this as administrator (until the next giveaway)

for me this is a keeper. i got my idea from henk, #6, and jedilost #10. i had a video that would not play the audio in windows media player, but it would play both the audio and video in vlc. it was an mp4. i put it to this program and asked it to convert it to an mp4. i thought, wow, this might be a little silly, converting an mp4 to an mp4, but i thought, i'm game. lo and behold, it worked great!! it went 'quickly' and the resulting file is a lot smaller! the original (for a 2 hour 30 min video) was 1,540,559 kb, and the new result is 507.208 kb. that is more than half the file size cut off! i did notice the sound quality (loudness) is better in vlc than in windows media player, and i assume that is the difference in the player. i'm amazed. and may not have tried this had i not read henk and jedilost.

Just like Henk Van Helmond #6, I have a video which VLC can't play the auido and Windows Player can't play the video. So even though I knew I had both the audio and the video, I just couldn't find a way to play them together.

Henk gave me the idea and I installed Winx and converted the avi file to mp4. Now it works.

But thinking about it, maybe it will work the same if I try another converter too. Yet, Winx did the job and it is a keeper for me.

Digiarty Software has been a regular on GOATD for many years.
Their WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe is solid software that performs very well on XP and W7.
I liked their software so well that I previously bought the lifetime license...AND THAT REPRESENTS MY ONLY COMPLAINT! They periodically kill their old serial numbers...so when you do an update...surprise...you end up with a trial copy...and your old serial number no longer activates the 'paid' version!

It's a shame that I can't use this great giveaway program .

I have very poor vision and the application screen is too small for my aging eyes.

If I try to use my magnifier, the screen becomes invisible behind it (magnifier).

Thanks anyway WinX and GOTD

Installed and registered without problems, opened up to simple interface.
Brought in a couple of videos of MP4 and FLV types but unfortunately the preview would not function correctly, merely a stationary image and sound.
Tested with a few other converters to see if it was a system problem but no only this program.
The update option was greyed out and set at daily which is rather annoying.
No problems doing a conversion and so will test the WebM and Google TV to see it is worth keeping.

It's going to take a lot to take me away from my favourite converter Moo0 VideoConverter because it is so much easier to control the output size of the video.

installed on my 7 well but failed on my first tests.
I tried to convert full HD canon MOV file to WinX own HD MOV .
On first attempt I set the slider to HQ, it run at ~98% 4 cores CPU ~5fps converting a 171MB file into 22MB with washed colors.
So for second try I went into setting and replaced VBR to 18MB CBR,
now converting was at ~3FPS producing a 66MB file with the same hazy look.

This is a all-in-one tool, from converter over video downloader to the built-in editor. And no matter whether you select 1,2,3 or 4 cores, it uses 4 cores all the time. The check for automated updates is disabled.

The conversion is fast - but 83 times faster. Surely not.

The build in video generator from images is more than simple. You add a folder, you can add a music and a time. No influence on transitions or other options.

The video editor can subtitle, crop&expand and trim. The software does what it claims, simple without extra. A "De Luxe" edition? The marketing department hits again.

Install it, if you want the latest codecs for your UHD cam with 35 Mpix. All the others can use this tool, too ... of course.

Will reinstall this, if I find my UHD cam, I lost it in the kitchen or in the garden???

Have a nice weekend!

Nice as usual from this company. All the presets are good. But I want also to be able to set a custom profile that lets me set the video and audio bitrate, and it would be nice to also have an option to set the maximum filesize and let the program calculate the video and audio bitrate to make that filesize.
