@Alice, from support, I'm glad that after going through so many versions you finally corrected the misspelling of the word "Animated" as you had it before as Animaetd at the bottom part of the screen and one more quote, this company is part of Aoao, isn't it?

Thank you very much for this little nice tool. Installation runs smooth on a windows 7 Ultimate machine. I don`t need so often animated gifs but this is a keeper for me if I am able to find it. It would be helpful to have some additional possibilities in the installation procedure. Also a crop function will be nice. For me: a keeper

Works really well on videos I've taken on a camera but not so good on animated ones. As mentioned above, would be nice to have a cropping function built-in. This is a keeper for me just for this one function.
Thanks for the offer

daddyfish#15, you said: ‘after conversion the video “speeds up” once the conversion is complete. Any ideas?’

my thought is: normally animated gifs are meant to be very short..you mentioned a 47 second video. try just a couple seconds of that video converted to gif. an animated gif is most often used to run over and over, it isn't a video with sound.

You have to adjust the Frame Rate. Its set to 1 frame/sec. That's why. Set the frame Rate 10/sec to get a smoother gif. You can go up to 24f/s, but limits the file size quickly as more frames, more data :-[

There's no option to install a shortcut to desktop or start menu/programs. Interesting choice, made it difficult to find after installing. Running Windows 8.1 (x64) under Classic Shell

there may not have been an option, but it did create a shortcut on my desktop, win 7, 64.

Installed and runs fine. I particularly like the way you can select a small portion from a video and make a good old fashioned small animated GIF either for a website or to use as a visual indication of a video's content.

I miss the Gif program that used to come with Paint Shop Pro. It allowed the adding of animated text to .gifs AND cropping.
Cropping allows you to cut away all but what you want to be in the center of your gif.
And, if you want to make a square gif but the video you want to make it from is 16:9 rectangular, todays GAotD will not do. You can only rezize the video.
Also, cropping makes for smaller frames and therefore smaller .gif file sizes. Very important when wanting to upload a animated .gif avatar to a forum that limits the shape/file sizes of gifs.
Todays Giveaway needs this cropping feature to really be useful for those that want to make gifs for uploading & a text editing feature would be nice too.

Karl's insights and comments on the software offered are always well thought out and well said, but perhaps he should stop mentioning "Uninstalled via reboot", since it confuses some people, and they always get a lot of negative "votes". It would be easier not to have to have one of us keep explaining what he means each time. Just my 2 cents.

I installed this on Win 10 Pro and it registerred without any fuss! The program works quite well and I will be keeping it. I tried and was able to do a conversion without too much effort! I think I will get better results as I better learn it's uses. I looks forward to seeing how the program improves over time!

Thanks Video to GIF Converter 5.2 and GOTD!

Downloaded and installed fine on Win 7/64. Very simple to use, but had to hunt around a bit for the Output folder settings... the box is same color as the background and my eyes are not the best. The picture in the help on their website does not look the same as the current black one. Frankly, I like the White in the website pic much better. But that's pretty trivial and just my opinion.

Converts in under a minute? No way, unless the Video is also quite short. It IS fast though.

My first video was 8-mins long, and playback after conversion was "sped up (using default settings. It went an 8-min mp4 to a 30 second gif on meth.

I am trying another on that is only about 2 mins but am having issues with uploading it to Photobucket. I can go to the direct url just fine, but just get a blank white image, even though the preview is there.

What I'd really like to know is if there is a way to load video from a URL in this converter? Or do I have to choose a file from my hard drive?

Thanks... other than that, it seems to be a keeper :)

OK, tried a 47-sec video, again downloaded from YouTube. Same issue, after conversion the video "speeds up" once the conversion is complete. Any ideas?

Dear User,

Thank you for your review on our software, sincerely. We're sorry for the inconvenient, we will update our software in the near future till you satisfy. As for the converting speed relies on your PC running speed, video format, video length & of course software processing speed. As for the loading, our software can only load file from hard drive. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for your support on our software.

Best wishes,

Sometimes a conversion to gif seems to speed up a gif. (sometimes it speeds up..sometimes it doesn't)...If u have acess to a program named animation shop 3, u can slow your frame rate or adjust the frame speed to however you want...works very well and you can also make your own gifs

VERY BAD is not a crop function...

often you dont want to convert all video in a gif but only a part, i mean the video have resolution 200x200 you want to convert only what is visible from 150 to 150 pixel...

beside this not seems bad

Installed on Windows 8. Controls for setting times doesn't work (or rather work very poorly). Goes for both the controls with sliders and by inputting numbers directly. Tried to make an animated gif of a small sequence (Miss Piggy knocking down Kermit from the Muppet Show), but could not set the start and end points at all well. The start point about 2 seconds to early, but the only later point I can successfully set is almost at the end of the sequence I wanted to capture in my Gif.
Now, that problem can of course be circumvented by cutting out the exact sequence to be converted in some other software and then loading that particular sequence. But that's definitely not acceptable for a piece of software being offered at a price. Had it been working I might have considered $10 offer (and what is actually the full price? In one place it says $19.90, in another $29.90.)
I also liked the old(?) interface displayed on the publisher's web-site better with the controls directly available without being hidden behind buttons.

Dear user,

Thank you indeed for your kind feedback about our software. Based on what you described here, there might be one reason - your PC runs a lot of programs, which holds your PC, which makes the software run slow, since our software is a lightweight software and our processing unit takes the best technology, there is no way for running slow on itself. So could you check your PC running situation first, if the issue still exists, if you like, you can send your screenshots to us through email:support@watermark-software.com, we'd like to do our best to help with the issue.
FYI, refer to Tutorial on "How to convert video to GIF" with video to GIf.

Dear Alice,

I am thoroughly impressed by the attention you have given to each user submission/comment. It is a rare privilege to have a software representative working so closely with the GOTD users! Your comments have really helped us to understand the program.

I think that in your answer to this comment "your PC runs a lot of programs" you are referring to memory resident programs that may be unnecessarily using memory. Many programs will add themselves to the startup group when they are installed or used and run all the time even though they are not needed. The solution is to periodically review your computer's startup group (by checking MSCONFIG) and removing those programs from the group that are not necessary for full time use. This will free up memory and return the computer to normal speed.

Your offering today is an awesome program and I thank you for it!!!

It is very nice that there is someone of the softmaker maker to comment here, I agree. But the problem of Anders Ericsson is not a problem specially related to running of his computer, I noticed this problem too, and lots of others on other language GOTD related sites too: it is a technical issue the maker will have to solve. Setting the startpoint in frame to frame precision can´t often be done; only the keyframes are shown (if the movie is compressed (e.g. mpeg2). However, increasing the end point can> be done correctly. I´am confident that this is not a difficult issue to solve; see my comment at 12 to get a possible indication where to search.

Program works, but I see some problems with the framerate in the output gif. Tested 4 video's, only one was converted the right way. It seems that if you don't start on a keyframe in the movie, the frames inbetween till the startpoint of the gif, are included and displayed in the output at the set frame rate as well. So the beginning of the gif often seems very slow, after the inbetween frames it picks up the framerate correctly. Only uncompressed movies will not have this problem.

I think this can be solved easily by the maker. Perhaps a crop function is usefull too.

Downloaded and registered without problems. In particular, no name & email was required,.

Also positive is that the format WEBM is supported, although not specifically mentioned in the specs. As this format is now widely adopted e.g. by imgur, I’d advise the developers to add it to those mentioned, it would be to their advantage.

In converting the above WEBM video, I was impressed by the speed and quality.

The resulting GIF speed at the default setting was also very fast, it had to be drastically reduced, which also reduced speed of conversion. Perhaps the program could be made to better estimate this parameter.

Setting the start point of the conversion also seemed tricky, at least I couldn’t get it where I wanted it, the program seemed to jump from much before to much after it in the space of 1 sec. which was obviously incorrect.

A small weakness is also the inability to rename subsequent attempts at the same video, which means the previous attempt has to be overwritten. Of course, one could always change the name of the previous attempt (or change the output folder) before proceeding to the next one, but this is slightly less convenient.

I shall be keeping this without hesitation and look forward to a subsequent version that may improve on the above mentioned (small) weaknesses.

Program is very limited in size you can convert. Couldn't convert a 1:52sec video (34megs) past 5% at 1200x675 res, 12fps even though the timer Start & End was set.

Program works for little things, like converting to a much smaller size and keeping frame rates low enought to stand.
So far, I cannot get a converted file over 37megs. Not likely one would like that big a file anyway in a .gif. So, its a keeper for now.

GOTD seems to have a converter 2-3 time a week. I can't verify that data, but the statistics are certainly very high. I like to come here when other giveaway/discount sites don't have anything I want, and what do I usually find, a media converter.

Thanks GOTD for all that you provide. But, you are sure heavy on media converters.

Installed and registered without difficulty, opened up to an easy to use interface except some of the areas were difficult to read in particular where it said output folder.
Imported Avi, MP4 and FLV files which it handled without the slightest difficulty when converting to an animated GIF, it also preview them without with ease.
When a video is opened it detects the frame size and this is changeable as is the number of frames to be included in the output.
It also allows effects of the output frames, sharpen work quite well.
Very impressed with the speed it converted and quality of the output it produced.

Have quite a collection of video files and creating an animated Gif of them would make a good summary of the contents of the each.
It is most certainly a keeper, love it.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 10 Pro 64 bit system. A clean install.

A company without name and address. Phone number for sales only - part of WonderFox&family&friends, digitally signed E-Mig technology.
" AoaoPhoto Digital Studio (aoaophoto.com) which was founded in 2008. AoaoPhoto Digital Studio is a multimedia software company dedicated in providing innovative photo/video applications for individuals as well as business"

And a nice claim from their web page:
"Operation + conversion within 1 minute" Guaranteed???

This seems to be a subset from their Video to Picture Converter 5.0, which was GOTD on November 28, 2014. Here are the old reviews:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/video-to-picture-converter-5-0/

A dark resizable interface opens, no settings or preferences found. You add your video, you can apply some more or less useful effects, define the output path and convert. I tested it. Well the minute is true for some very short video. It all depends on the definition.

http://i.imgur.com/1MNfltT.png

The output of my test video grows from a 22 MB mp4 video to a 37 MB animated gif with the default values. Of course you can change resolution and the number of captures images per second. Instead of an animated gif, you can choose some other image formats for the same series of images.

Does what it claims. A simple and working video to gif solution. If you need animated gifs, you can take this.
Uninstalled via reboot, didn't make an animated gif in the last sixty month.

Have a nice Sunday!

I don't know why people are so eager to vote against comments simply because someone asks a simple question. Of course it isn't "helpful" to ask a question but do all you people voting against such comments truly resent people trying to have a conversation? I expect you're the same people who give a thumbs down to programs without trying them just because it's not one you need.

@ Jraju -- Karl has a program (such as Toolwiz Timefreeze or something similar) that he activates before installation that completely restores his computer to what it was before he installed the program to test it. Then he just restarts (reboots) his computer and it's back to how it was. This is a more thorough method of uninstalling than the uninstallers usually do. It also protects the computer from viruses that you might inadvertently acquire.

Reply   |   Comment by Diana  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+20)

jraju, Karl has some sort of a special system....he can tryout various programs/software without actually installing it, ie without messing up his Registry. So, with his setup..he can tryout a software before installing it & if he decides against keeping it, all he has to do is reboot his system in order to remove it from his computer. --Dax

I only want that so that i could also do the same thing. Karl has never replied to the query.
Naturally, a program by GOTD is supposed to have no popups and other injections in those free programs. If programs are to be tested, then it has to install without any PUP or other popups.
I usually find that most video converters does the popup business without there being any closing x mark, so you could not move without agreeing to the conditions in the popup.
When uninstalling some programs the application, injects residues in the registry which is very hard to clear. Just imagine, one tries daily GOTD and his registry is filledup unwantedly. So, Normal uninstall is by program uninstaller, which never completely erases the program files, but sometimes alerting user that some system files are no use so could be deleted, if it is selected yes, then you have the problem of BSOD. My genuine concern is that programs from GOTD should be without any ads or popups and PUPs.
