BTW, IF this installed gdiplus.dll version 5.1.3097.0, e.g. in windows\system32 or elsewhere
(hover mouse over gdiplus.dll to see tooltip showing version), that version may be vulnerable to the GDI+ JPEG exploit, maybe MSupdates will fix it.

For those who had success, I wish I could have figured it out.

I wanted to convert *directly* from the web.

Anyone, tomorrow or in 20 minutes a new day will be here and I'll be back to give a check of what will be offered.

Unfortunately I installed it and uninstalled it almost immediately.

First I wanted to convert from the web and could not figure out how to do that.

I inserted my own URL and when I clicked on Convert the URL disappeared from the URL box and I got an error message 2-3 times.

I then read BladedThoth's review and that was enough for me.

I have an earlier version of Adobe Acrobat on my system. For some reason the distiller was not showing up. I think I need to get it installed properly and use that or perhaps one of those recommended above.

I have html files from a help area that are specific to my customer service problems. I wanted to convert them to PDF before I lose access to the customer service area.

I'll have to look further.

Thanks the GAOTD. I wonder if anyone tests out these programs first before putting them up.

The thing that really did impress me was that when you uninstalled the program there was a questionnaire why. I did take the time to fill it in.

I was excited when I saw this as I have an immediate need, but understand that *you get what you pay for, so no hard feelings on this end!*

Have a good day/morning/evening.

Roz

#67....you might actually download and try this program before declaring it "faulty". Functionality was fine, ease of use was very good, and will make the job of printing web pages in a WYSIWYG format possible. Everyone has their favorite programs they learn to use and rely on. As far as GLARY goes, it was my first time using this registry editor, and I was impressed. Picking out tidbits in the registry from specific programs that had been deleted and uninstalling them was very easy. But then, those with limited experience in the registry should not be delving with any editor unless they make backups. But on the positive side, they reinforce the learning process of what NOT to do when they have to reinstall their operating system. GOTD, Total HTML Converter is a keeper.

Hmmm... I got jazzed when i first saw this-> but passed on it. A HTML convertor sounds cool, but it doesn't handle LINKS and such. I have my eye on one that converts to EXE. Now that meets my needs, but the program is $100, and ya need to get a seperate $100 program to create and installer [front end on it]. Thats $200! ouch-> well i dont needm' quite yet so...

Oh, that game ArchMage you guys had on here a few days ago is the bomb!!! i love that game! I am still lookin for a dungeons and dragons 1st person [with good graphics] game thou. Yup, with online gaming. I found some new ones on the net, but they need like 5 gigs of space. I hope i will find a keeper like that soon- cause i work alot on my computer- and would love to get lost in a nice dragon adventure for like hmmm '6 months' hehe.

thanx guys! see ya tonight at midnight!

Hi, there is a deadful bugs in this software. If you trust it with your life, you will doomed. When I convert HTML to PDF, some sentences are missing or incomplete. If you print it and show to somebody, the your life will be in trouble when certain information is gone. I give 0 for this software.

I agree with others that the ability to have the output of just one format is a big shortcoming for this product.

They should combine the three products into one. :)

I do like a couple of the other programs we have gotten by them, so not a completely negative "combo" review (and a lazy Monday one at that!) for the product.

Finally this is a program that I could use. Sometimes I download pages of tutorials that are free but loaded with ads and stuff I don't need. I used to make a doc document using the archives but this program seem to do a part for me, that helps me edit it later to my liking. I think is a good utility. Thanks

Adobe Acrobat [The program, not the Reader] has this functionality built into it and I find that it works flawlessly. Is it claimed that HTML converter can do anything that cannot also be done using Acrobat?

http://www.pragnaan.com/paperlessprinter/downloads/manual3.0.pdf

It's the manual to the paperless printer and not only explains everything but actually even shows you the possibilities. Perhaps you won't like it but I would be greatly surprised if you didn't like it because of the quality the results are or because it isn't easy in use.

As mentioned before it does what the offered software here does and doc converter and pdf converter.

Unless you are one of those that think that unless they pay lots of money it can't be any good because you could be tempted by the dark side
;)

And William, it is free, you don't need any activation key or whatever. Just take your time and read what the dialog boxes actually ask/tell you.

I've tried to convert the giveawayoftheday.com homepage to a PDF and after creation my operating system crashed. I thought this may be bad luck. After rebooting I tried to view the PDF but my Adobe Reader couldn't open it. Sorry, the PDF part fails badly. But I'll keep it and try it with other output formats, hoping that they will work...

Good morning everyone! ;)

I could really have done with a program that has these functions - but thanks to BladedThoth's review and the other comments here, I know I need to keep looking.

I dislike the way both Open Office and Word convert documents, (Ugh!) so without having any urgency for its use at the moment, I'll keep cruising the freeware sites that I've bookmarked.

Thanks anyway CoolUtils, but sub-standard software simply isn't going to cut it with us - we really are a critical lot ;) - though I do try to be constructive with my reviews if I've downloaded the program. However, with this one, I won't even bother.

I would like to see your other programs offered here for us to test and review - ie:
EXIF Viewer; Total Image Slicer; Total Doc Converter; Total Mail Converter; Start Up Manager; Folder Shine; Secure Wallet and PhotoLook.

Thanks again GOTD but there sure has been a lot of faulty software here lately. I never complain whether the software is for me or not, but I will complain about faulty software such as this and Glary Utilities, which caused me to reinstall Windows.

Without even looking at the rest of the comments, I can say that this one isn't worth it's salt:
DOC: I just open the HTML file in a word processor &emdash; doesn't even have to be Microsoft Word &emdash; and save as DOC. But why would I do that? It's less portable than HTML.
PDF: I just print to a PDF printer. PDFCreator even has more than just PDF as output, I think.
XLS: Copy... paste!
JPG: FF's "Screen grab!" extension does this for me, in a better format (PNG).
TXT: Save as -> Text file

Thanks, but I'll pass.

Although I have no need for this program,I love to test programs out to determine if my initial impression of utility was correct.

I tried every funtion, and noticed some minor flaws that did not detract from the overall utility. However, I found none of the problems with converting to any format. I got no unexplainable blank pages (a few showed up where the end of the web page came up, and there must be a hidden element that triggered the blank to be created, but no -missing- pages).

While for me everything this program does is already done by other programs I already have, this is a valuable tool for people who do not already have funtions like this.

On another note: I, too, await seeing some actual intellectual work done by the whiney "Open Source" community. It is tedious to see the intellectually bankrupt whining about OpenOffice, Linux, or any of the other marginal saturation/marginal functionality OS's/software packages. Instead of the posturing about your personal choice, how about some actual comparisons?

Let's see, who has Avid Liquid Chrome running on a Linux Machine without a slew of kludgy crap to get it to run? I do not have the time to waste, like the OpenSourece people seem to have, to play pseudo-hacher games to try to force Linux to run a high end video/film editing software package that I spent over $5,000 on. I simply have better things to do with my very valuable time.

I've been using paperlessprinter for years and it's great, except that sometimes, the resulting file has "hollow" letters - outlines of the letters with white space inside. I think this happens with PDF files that are in websites, that I wanna save for offline use.

I look forward to trying this program and to BladedThoth's review.

I use this product myself and its very handy just like the program offered today. The new 3.1 version is now available for download and can be used by private-non profit benifit.

They also offer a site license for business but for private use this product is free to the open public.

Thanks for a great program GAOTD! This is an fast loading little program that has some features and capabilities other programs do not. It does seem to be somewhat quirky, and sometimes you need to rerun a task for it to be done properly. However, for those commenting that OpenOffice does the same thing ... um, not really. Take a good look at the features and spend some time with it before leaving a comment. For those wondering what the usefulness of this program is, fer cryin out loud - DONT DOWNLOAD IT! When did GAOTD ever promise that every program they feature will be useful for everyone? As for me, I do have a use for this particular program. Thanks GAOTD for putting up with the unwashed masses!

Just to add....... Before people dismiss the program too easily, it does have many advantages - multiple HTML files convert into one document at the touch of a button and even web URLs are rapidly transferred into a Word et al file.

I have yet to get this to work with PDF however, I continually get the message "Access violation at address 00798678 in module ‘HTML Converter.exe’ Read of address 055E65E4". The one time that it did convert, upon opening the file I got the message "Error opening file. The file is damaged and cannot be repaired.". This is a shame as the PDF feature would make this program complete. As it is I would use the program to convert into .doc files and use my current convertor to do so into PDFs. A shame but nonetheless a great program.

#14 SUPER will convert almost any video format to another. And it's free too. http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

Today's GOTD program does not work properly (blank/white pages or borked layout) and is WAY overpriced for what it is supposed to do. There are many free PDF creators and convertors available. And if you want to replace your expensive MS Office and get the ability to export to .doc . pdf etc. you can use Open Office.

I don't understand the daily comments that say "what about such and such alternative, they have this too" - if supermarkets adopted this way of thinking, there would be no choice - you'd go in and be offered one brand of coffee, one brand of cornflakes, one brand of orange juice.......... The fact is that, yes, there may well be alternatives, but this software is great and does exactly what it says. It is quick and easy to use, has a crisp and clear interface and is a genuinely useful program to have for when you need it.

Coolutils have obviously utilised Babelfish to translate their pitch but nonetheless tedious converting manipulations have turned out very funny indeed! I'm with the computer genius at #2 - this is a great little tool!

PS In all seriousness, I feel that Coolutils don't sell this as well as they could by using the word "quite" in their software description. "Quite" easy to use suggests that it is not as easy as it might be or that some would have difficulties with the program. In reality it is genuinely simple to use. I would be concerned that potential customers would be put off by the use of the word "quite" and would change that to "Everything else is genuinely quick and easy".

When I first went to use this, I thought, wow this is going to be one nice program. It ask you if you want to put the author's name, creator all kinds of extra info you could add. Also gives you an option to but a different background in ... just really nice ... if it would have done what it claims to do. I tried several different types of files, and several different types of converting. I have to say I am very disappointed in this program. So as of now I give it a thumbs down.
