I use WhatsApp and have been looking for a program like this for a long time. I have many different phones that have konked out on me and, for whatever reason, the WhatsApp data never copied properly.

I put it to the test and was highly upset!

The version they supply, even though it says Iphone and ANdroid, is an IOS version only. I had to download the Android version from their website.

MAJOR ISSUES:

It has issues with Android 2.4+, as it is clearly stated on their website. If you have 2.3 (Gingerbread), you probably have a phone that is 4-5 years old.

The memory card, which most data is read from, can not be read if its Android 2.4+. You have to pop it out and use the SD slot on your laptop.

*** The biggest issue.... it has problems detecting phones that are Android 2.4+ ***

CONCLUSION:

If you have an old Android phonw with important information on WhatsApp, this program will read it and you can do whatever you need with your IMs and Contacts.

If you have a new Android phone from the last 2-3 years....GOOD LUCK!!!

First of all... thanks to GAOTD for their fantastic work.
Now the problem... The program tells me to connect my phone - but it is already connected?!?! Why cant it see my phone??
Another thing... It isn't clear to me - can this program find deleted pictures on IPhone and Androit even whitout a backup??

Installed, activated and ran the software for the first time successfully. It then advised me that there was no data. Is that WhatsApp data or no data whatsoever? It then wanted me to install a trial iPhone Data Recovery program. I only want my WhatsApp contacts, chat history etc to be restored. Maybe I'm missing something here.

Same for me. No problem for install, but cannot retrieve any data. Tested on Samsung Galaxy tab2 7.0 non rooted and Galaxy notes 1 rooted. All of them have Whatsapp installed.

Note that this software is not for general recovery of cell phone data. It is only for recovering data associated with the apparently popular WhatsApp Messenger, "a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS." WhatsApp gives you messaging capability on a PC and also works on most mobile operating systems.(www.whatsapp.com) If you don't use WhatsApp, you don't need today's giveaway.

However, Tenorshare also makes software for backing up and recovering many kinds of data on mobile devices running on iOS, or Android, and "any data from a (Windows or Mac) computer's hard drive, USB flash drive, camera, mobile phone, (or) MP3&MP4 player." On their website they offer free versions of some programs and many levels of recovery software for sale.

Not all deleted files, data, directories can be recovered no matter what the software promises to you.
Do a daily backup or even weekly backup if you really care for your iOS data. Recovering after the fact is a tedious and frustrated job and never 100% recovery can be done due to cross files created, end of file marker missing or names are intermingled or the data is already overwritten over new data.

Well, most smartphones comes with software - including backup software. If one accidently forget to do a back up now and then, this tool can be usefull - as I see it. I'll give it a try and give a little review later on. After all, Tenorshare has offered quality software during the years, I've been at this site.
