The second setup.exe does install under XP in SP3 with Intel processor.
Tested it with sample image.
Result of test: Total Failure, worse than Very Poor.

The test of removal of selected items fails completely. Nothing is removed.
Similarly for clone stamp. May be the result of low quality program coding and lack of software project management and supervision; before the product is rushed out to the market.

The updated version will not start on a computer running an AMD processor with Windows XP-PRO w/SP3.

Uninstalled.

The program now starts and appears to work however when you use the remove selection marker it paints green on the picture and removes nothing when run. I assume that it should paint red like the rectangular and free-form selection tools. Needs more work!!
It also made my old photo retoucher program unregistered even though I put it in a different directory.

Did you really test it.

Installation and registration ok.

Installed on xp sp3 and windows 7 premium.
I wanted remove object on a picture. The selection of objects are ok, but when I want to remove objects, nothing happen . I tested some other functions. They all worked well except removing objects.

I tried with other type of images. Same problem.

Finally I tested with inpaint from another giveaway on the same images (http://www.theinpaint.com) . No problem to remove objects very quickly with good result.

It is true that there seems to be an issue with the tool on the left (selection marker), but the others (free form select etc.) work properly.

I like softorbits Software, But Have they Fixed there Software Registration Problem! As i mean if you have other SoftOrbits
Software installed, Then as in the past the new Installation of New software Messes Up the Registration of past installed SoftOrbts
Software. The Usual : Activation error. The license key has been already activated. Then *****Unregistered version***** shows up
on Older SoftOrbits Installed Software!!! So Basically when you install a new software, it affects and Unregisters some of there
other software versions of there Software, Like Sketch Drawer etc, All this was was mentioned in PAST GOTD Comments, but NEVER
seen or read anywhere of a Solution or Fix for this Problem.

So i will give it a Miss again, as i might lose Registration yet again on there other installed Software!!! Pity Really.
P.S. i don't think it affects Everybody Maybe? But i Know it has Affected alot of people in the past with same Problem As in
Past GOTD Comments, So please SoftOrbits can you Finally fix this Licence (Registration) Problem once and for all...

Ok the fixed version seems to work. Prior wouldn't go at all Windows 8.1 x64 Pro with a key corrupt or such message. Program works with throwaway addy so no need to worry about SObits junky emails. Appears a must do same day license. Worth a shot for light weight photo corrections. Thanks guys, nearly gave up on this one.

The greatest plugin for removing anything is MV's WireWorm. Its a work of genius, and its free:
http://www.vicanek.de/
Originally designed to remove overhead wires that cross a picture, with patience and care you can remove anthing, no matter how complex. You have total control. You select an area you want replaced with a resizable circle brush and then move it in any direction. As you do you will see other parts of the picture slide across the area you want replaced. Stop when you are satisfied and the new piece will blend in. The degree of blending is controlled by the capture slider. Fine adjustments can be made with arrows. The 'snap' button will help the replacement pixels stay where you want them. I have removed a fisherman from standing amongst rocks in the sea, and a wire mesh fence behind which was an antelope at a zoo. I have repaired broken tiles and cracked concrete at the entrance to a church, and removed a one person from a pair and replaced him with a post. Swap noses and eyes on peoples faces. Take away someone glasses. Remove creases from clothing and cars in front of a building you want a picture of. Forget Inpaint. I use Wireworm more than any other plugin and have done so for years. Please give it a try. There is a bunch of other free plugins also on the site. The Perspective transformer is an excellent one.

Thanks but bit too old. A note on compatibility: The plugins below run on Windows platforms including Vista and Windows 7, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows versions. Mac users may use them via Windows emulation software such as Windows under BootCamp or Virtual PC. The plugins require a host application with a Photoshop compatible filter plugin interface, such as Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, IrfanView, PhotoFiltre Studio, and many more. Click here for an extensive list.

Currently only 32-bit host applications are supported. Photoshop CS4 and above comes in two versions: 32-bit and 64-bit. On 64-bit Windows (XP, Vista or 7) systems, both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions of Photoshop will usually be installed. Be sure to place the plugins in the 32-bit plugins folder, and run the 32-bit Photoshop program version to use the plugins.

Compatibility issues noted, beergas -thanks for pointing that out to our colleagues. But the plugin's age does not take anything away from it's magic. Its worth anyone running their image software in a manner so as to able to try it out. I don't think they will find it a waste of time if they use things like InPaint.

should have asked this a long time ago but.......what is 'uninstalled via reboot' ? ....thanks for any feedback there

Reply   |   Comment by walt  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-4)

I would make the guess that uninstalling via reboot would work if you were using a purely virtual machine, with virtual disks, components and so on. Rebooting would erase all the changes made to the virtual system.

Hi Tom,

Yes you are correct with your assumption. It is a great test environment to simulate the working software when being installed, and while the program is being used. Sometimes Karl would comment to say the software is a keeper and save the software to the physical hard drive.
Jeff.

OR: http://i.imgur.com/RrYimET.jpg A giveaway from a while ago, doesn't get active untill you start it, whatever you change to your (C:\ system partition ) is gone after a reboot or, see image, make it life. (The given key actually still works)

I preferred this one (Wondershare) over http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/toolwiz_time_freeze.html
(also free) because of ease of use and it works fine together with Ayrecovery (also a giveaway)

For what it's worth, you should better not "test" without use of these, not all uninstaller(s) really cleans all things, leaving you with unwanted leftovers...

And if you don't want to bother with virtual test environments, just create a System Restore Point before installation and restore to it afterwards.

It installed and registered flawlessly on W7 64 using my GMail address. The email came within 1 second after I sent the information. The software is easy to use and easy to see with my old eyes. I almost didn't get it due to the comments but it appears the problems are confined to W8.1* thru W10.

I'v been using ver:1.4 since it was on offer and I like it. I never have any problems and it has a great sketcher.
I was going to upgrade but I think I will pass. I am running Windows XP on one computer and Windows 8.1 on the other. Both are fine.

Dual-boot here! Well, it seems you guys were lucky enough to at least get the software 'started'. I tried to install on Win10 partition (and mind you, the last version started and ran in Win10) but when it came time to START the program - nothing, not even a freeze - just nothing! Well, not a great way to start the day, but there is a silver-lining - I didn't have to pay for it, except for - time, electricity, computer resources (you get the picture)! Don't they test these things (& before anyone types about NOT being in requirements - MOST of the time, a program that runs in Win 8.1.2 {which is my other physical partition} will run in the new Win10 TP Build 10074). I have run into 6 programs so far that does not like Win10 at all, and now I am having trouble with USB Handlers - Anyone know how to increase, or even set the number of handlers for a Dell notebook? I always thought it was regulated by the number of letters in the alphabet - minus the A,B,C then divide in half. Been that way since DOS 1.0 in DOS 3.0 I split a drive into 12 [to see if it could be done]. Now having trouble with external USB drives. (I know, sorry, it is a bit off track.)

Well, this program is incompatible with Windows 8.1 64 bit. I ran troubleshooter and compatibility settings... no luck today. Why that happened I don't know, but surely, they must have checked on Windows 8.1, no?

Downloaded and installed on Win. 7 Pro. Did the email thing for the license key. It didn't crash on me, but the program acts like its in Demo mode. I can use it, adjusting the image, just can't save anything. It's shaded out on the save or save as. About 14 years ago, I paid a whole bunch of money for Adobe's Photoshop 5.5, then upgraded to Photoshop 7.0 (for more money). I'm going to uninstall Photo Retoucher and stay with what I have.

It works for me! (W7 64bit) maybe because I took the chance to install it over version 2.0. It doesn't crash and I can save modified pictures. After a quick try, I don't see any real improvement over previous version, but without a changelog (not available on their site - these people should give their customers reasons to WANT a new version), I can't really say for sure.

For Karel and others:

– If you already have InPaint (Teorex) or Retouch Pilot (Two Pilots): Photo Retoucher supports transparency;
– If you already have Photo Stamp Remover (also by SoftOrbits): although the two softs partly overlap, there are much more tools in Photo Retoucher (concealer brush, scratch remover etc.) but no batch mode. There is also a downsized version of Sketch Drawer (SoftOrbits also) included.

Reply   |   Comment by ouialaraison  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+64)

I was about to add to my post above that with InPaint, you can select where to pick replacement pixels, while Photo Retoucher automatically picks them in the immediate surroundings of the object to be removed, which, depending on the background, can give poor results. But I realized that in today's version of Photo Retoucher there is a clone stamp which lets you pick pixels where you want. As far as I can remember, it was not the case in previous versions. It works well and allows a much more precise job. This is definitely an improvement.

InPaint is considered here the leading tool for removing unwanted objects. This one seems to do a little more, like reducing noise and increasing contrast. Provided of course it works, which from preceding comments doesn't appear to be the case.

As commenter #1 had exactly the same problem it would appear that there is a problem with the download package.

Installed without problems on a WIn 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system. A clean install.

A Russian company with phona&fax number.
We had a previous Photo Retoucher 2.0 on August 21, 2014. Here are the old reviews:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/photo-retoucher-1-5/

This is basically the same software as most SoftOrbits programs, canned under different labels.

Could not register. The program crashes immediately after start:

Crashes with administrator rights and without. May work on other computers.
Uninstalled via reboot...
