Needs a portable version, shouldn't have to install a data recovery program due to potential to damage the data you need to recover. Seems to find a lot of files, most of which cant be recovered. But is pretty quick. Nice interface. Would prefer a tile view of the found files for quick viewing of what can be recovered.

Holmes, there IS a portable version but it is not licensed by this giveaway. It's on their website as a downloadable link under a button for the main download.

Why is the program Publisher not responding to inquiries?
It will help a lot, if they do.

There is a design flaw with this program... it writes unnecessary log files to the system drive in normal operation that is a really dumb thing to do as it may overwrite some of the very data it's being used to try and recover! If a program is stable it should not have any need to create logs and have a facility for creating an error report zip to be emailed to their support email box! If it's known to not be stable so it needs the error reporting don't ask payment for it and conduct official public beta tests and release candidate creation and then disable the unproductive writes to the system drive creating logs that should not be needed. This should be a release build not a debug build!

After having installed and beginning to run, immediately offers update, i can not prevent it quickly enough, so when trying activate it does not accept the licence key...

I even tried to start it with internet connection turned off but it did not worked again. Before asking: I tried with the setup file unzipped from the giveaway file.

Update: at last successful activation, but not at start. After trying recover a disk and restore a file, the program tell it is a pro feature and shows an activation window -- there filling in the code the activation will succeed...

States here and on your website that XP is supported. It's not. I get "not a valid Win 32 application".

Robert Russel,
installer provided was built using a newer version of inno installer and so will NOT execute in any windows prior to NT 6.1 IT WILL NOT INSTALL UNDER Vista or XP.
"System Requirements:
Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8/ 10/ 11;." is inaccurate and not verified.
I recompiled the installer using a version 5.x inno setup which then allowed me to install it under 32bit Vista, no errors were produced during the recompile and no editing of the iss script file were required.
If you want to do the same you'll also need innoextractor as well as inno installer 5.x compiler.
The installer I built should install and run under XP and above... ibeesoft could easily do the same. It activates ok and installs over the top of version 2.0 I got back in 2017 and never needed to use, the UI of 2.0 looks much nicer than 4.5.0 offered here. And oddly because they changed main executables naming both 2.0 and 4.5 can co-exist in same install folder! A bug in the deployment of the program is while the program has 32bit build included the OfficeViewer.exe included is a 64bit ONLY executable so it will not be able to preview Office files under a 32bit edition of windows.
Note the portable edition they provide on their website does not accept the giveaway license so don't waste your time with it unless you want to buy a license for it.

Robert Russel, So maybe it only supports XP 64-bit? Not like it isn't a thing, just wasn't very common.

FeMaster, not unless XP 64bit is NT 6.1... it's not it's NT 5.2 see my comment:

TK,
Unfortunately, your comment wasn't there when I made mine. That's part of the problem with moderated comments that require approval for every single one. You respond to something that has no responses at all, then a moderator comes along and approves them, then all of a sudden you look like a retard because there were 15 responses before the one you left. A very stupid and inefficient system to say the least.

Is the giveaway portable?

Robert Russel, no it is not and the giveaway license does not work with the portable download from ibeesoft website.

Robert Russel, I don't think so but am not sure. I installed it on my laptop and then tried to install it on a USB drive and it wouldn't . . . unless I uninstalled on the laptop, which I declined. Maybe if you install on a USB drive and remove it and then install on a laptop, for instance, it would work. Someone else will know more certainly.
