For the same price it is possible to buy an external USB DVD-Multi burner or a USB-PATA/SATA brdige and an cheap DVD-Multi burner that will outperform any network option short of a dedicated 1.0 or 10Gigabit connection. Starburn had a similar feature in their optical burning suite too but I’ve never found it necesary… Good mobile computing practise recomends backing up essential data to an external storage medium, ie harddrive or USB flash stick, and if you have already done that it is trivial to take it to a system with a burner on it and burn the discs there and then directly from the backup medium.
Wondering what benefit might be for me. If I can connect my laptop to my desktop by net cable and save files on the desktop, why using a special software to burn CD/DVD? Also, if I can use ftp to transfer files by net, the problem can be solved with out remote burning as well. Let’s say that we are not talking here on business/corporate solutions, only on provate use… Can anyone explain, asking from pure curiosity…
