Visual MP3 Splitter & Joiner

Visual MP3 Splitter & Joiner can split and join MP3 files without converting them to WAV and back to MP3. The program works directly with MP3 frames, which has two important consequences: 1) files are split or joined much faster; 2) no quality is lost, as MP3 streams are copied, not converted. Can create CUE files or use existing CUE sheets to split audio files. Works with other formats: WAV (directly), WMA and APE (converts to WAV).

MIDI Converter Studio

MIDI Converter Studio will convert MIDI to MP3, WMA, OGG, or WAV. The program supports the SoundFont technology, which means that you can produce high quality converted files even on a computer with a low-cost sound card. Several SoundFonts can be used simultaneously. SoundFonts allow to convert MIDI files much faster, compared to the usual methods, and to get better sound quality at the same time.

  1. Basically, this is just a database which pulls some content from IMDB. It’s still a reasonable piece of software, but only if you have a huge number of movies. You probably won’t need it.

$40 is probably wishful thinking when it comes to price, but I wouldn’t recommend this software unless you’re desperate to organise your movies.

  3. This prog sounds awesome. I’ve wanted to create a movie database for years. Sorted by Director, Producer, Actors, etc. Looks like this prog does this and more. The loan manager would be VERY useful. And sorted by location… cool, because I’ve spent a ton of time searching for DVD /BD’s even when I had a single room dedicated to storage. I had over 50ft of shelf space packed full not even including 100′s of VHS tapes in boxes. I will recommend this to a friend of mine, who has a weekly budget for movies as he is growing quite a collection also and would find this helpful as well. I’m not sure why all the “thumbs down” as no one has posted a single comment. I think this sounds promising, so I’m not sure if it’s because of the developer or something else. Thanks in advance to GOTD and Maniac Tools for what I hope to be a great prog.

  5. Ah nice!
i was just looking for a software like this one!
Since I’m not always online, it’s a good thing that it downloads the info to the database, that way I can check out the information directly without having to connect to my 3G connection.

    I love the idea!

  6. It has problems. It said it could import my movie collection from EMDB but everytime I tried it kept coming up with error code 10. It also would not put up any info for a simple movie “Trading Places” said it could not find any info for that yet EMDB was able to find info including the cover on at least 3 different internet movie databases, including IMDB. It also does not have a built in un-installer, had to use WinUlities to un-install.

    Free Alternative: EMDB

  7. Installed fine on win 7 HP. Doesn’t seem to work on “ripped” movies where protection and extras have been removed. The “Loan” feature is certainly nice but I think the developer should also supply a hit-man to go after those friends who are way past due!

  8. I don’t see why there are so many negative ratings for this software. I hate to think that this is due to the fact that this software is rather specialized for people who have a big movie collection and want to organize it.

Nevertheless I think that it is a very useful software for someone who has a large number of movies, with many interesting features.

After all, the idea for the developers who sell a line of products, is to give us one of their softwares for free and present to us their complete line of products. We make the evaluation and the software and the developer get the credit they deserve. Fair and square.

As for the price, there is a good chance this software is underpriced because -and please correct me if i am wrong- i don’t think you will easily find any alternatives for this one, especially free ones.

  9. More than just organizing your movies, the database allows you to search by director, actor, genre, etc. The on-line tutorial covers everything and includes many screenshots. You can add movies using bar-code. Has a built-in player and provides a means to take snapshots from videos!
If you love your movie collection, you should get this.

  16. Thank you all for evaluating the software and for your comments!
You have added an idea: “Be able to print an alphabetical list of DVD movies”. Well, Movienizer does it, doesn’t it, and besides you can customize the output. See “Reports”.
#1 Movienizer isn’t “just a program” to pull contents from IMDB. It supports quite a number of online databases, and you can add movies manually. Downloading info is just an option.
#6 We communicated by email, you didn’t provide any information about script that you used. Depending on the online database that you use, you may get different (or no) results on certain queries. More information is available in the help, but we are ready to answer your questions.
#7 How does it look like when it “doesn’t seem to work”? If you mean playing movies, please note that Movienizer can play them both in the built-in and in any external video player. For the built-in player, system codecs are required (which means that Windows Media Player should be able to play the movie).
#11 Dune Player is a hardware high-definition player provided by HDI Dune. Movienizer can create good looking catalogs for the player using information from its database.
#13 Movienizer offers a number of features not available in the programs mentioned by you.

It could use a few tweaks here and there, as mentioned in the improvements, but this is still a keeper!

  23. This is a nice program for everyone with a movie collection. It has a neat, clear GUI with all sorts of info fields about a movie (language, actors, length, medium, infotext, rating, comment etc.). Downloading information by only enetering the title is fast, and after that one add more infos, if that isn’t enough there is the option to define custom fields.
I traced the install and found it doesn’t add anything to the registry.
So maybe it can even be made portable.
Very pratical tool to organize a bigger collection, you can even enter where you store the movie (shelf, rack etc.).
    Thanks GAOT and Maniac Tools.

I would wish something similar for a music CD collection.

Also, I feel like want to vent today…

    To #4 aMpaM
Thats why the rating system is messed up and everyone else is wondering why 1 minute after 9 there are already so many thumbs down.
Obviously you (and others of this kind) do not understand the point of this site. Of course it is impossible to offer every day something that suits everyones prefernces. You need to think beyond your nose and see that beside you there are still 6 billion other people on this planet. There is something here for eveyone, but that cannot be every day. This purpose of the rating system is NOT to thimbs down if someone cannot use it – and also certainly for useless posts like “I have no use for it” – because – hey, who cares if you can’t use it?? Does not interest anyone in the world. The purpose for the razing and the comments is for people ONLY who download install AND USE it and THEN, based on that, CAN judge about things like user friendliness, smooth run, interface, maybe bugs and so on. Nobody who actually uses it is able to judge anything.
For example, I don’t have any use for a mercedes as I don’t have a driver license – but it would be stuoid now if I would rate the mercedes industry with thumbs down, wouldn’t it? So. Thats the same thing.
I don’t have any use for screen savers too but would never rate negatively about i.e. yesterdays giveaway. How could ? I haven’t used it, so I can’t judge. And my taste and preferences are not the center point of the world. There are others who love it and have use for it.
So, if you can’t use, then step away on that day and be quiet, keeping your thoughts for yourself. Come back next day and maybe 2 or 5 times a month you find something that you have use for.
With other words, just because you have no use for today’s software, it is no reasonable base for rating with thumbs down.

    To #3 D and #8 gem:
Thats why always many thumbs down – thats mostly from people who don’t know what they do, just because they themselves wanted something else. Its #3 thats shows the answer on this question.

Well, okay, end of venting. Had to say this today ;-)

  24. A program like this would only be useful to me if I could add movies to the database using the UPC barcode. This program returned an error message each and every time I scanned the barcode on the movie jacket. To make matters worse, the ‘add movie’ dialog would not always start off in the right place; it often started by asking me to pick a movie from the list.

Ummm… There’s nothing in the list?

As a result, I assume this is why I can’t change anything, I want to change the custom fields to be able to show format and stuff and no matter how i try, I can’t get the info to change… ideas???

  28. #14 It looks like there may be a problem with permissions. Please check your Data Execution Prevention settings and make sure that the program isn’t partially blocked by your security software.

#17 There is too much to mention about differences with EMDB, for example:
    1) EMDB works exclusively with IMDB. Movienizer supports over 30 online movie databases in more than 10 languages. This includes support for less known anime series (not available on IMDB) and so on.
    2) Movienizer supports information about people: biography, filmography, photos etc. You can navigate back and forth from movies to people and back to movies quite naturally, discovering new interesting movies or actors.
    3) With Movienizer, you can control how much information you download and what information exactly. Want to download 3 posters, 2 covers and 9 shots from the movie? Just specify it in your settings. Fun stuff, trivia, complete cast? More descriptions? Awards? Everything can be downloaded.
    4) Customizable reports will allow you to print the information you need.
    5) Various filters and search options turn Movienizer into a powerful tool to explore a movie collection. You can build reports based on filtered list or on search results.
    6) Movienizer can be easily extended with custom scripts and plugins.
    7) Better support for TV series.
    … and so on :)

Thank you for your comments and for giving the program a try!

  33. I’m new to GAOTD and have been looking for a program similar to what is described here for Movienizer. However, I’m not technologically savy, so I’m not even sure how to articulate my question. What I’m really looking for is a program like this which is convertible or downloadable to an iPhone app. Additionally, you should know that this is my 1st iPhone and I’m still learning how to use it, as well as exploring apps for it. I have a few hundred videos, so typing all the entries is not practical on the iPhone itself. I need to be able to utilize a standard keyboard. Can Movienizer accommodate my request?

  34. I’ve tried a lot of movie database programs (MediaMan, Collectorz, Ant, etc) and so far I’m really liking this one due to the extensive amount of information it permits.

I imported a list of some of my movies (about 300 titles) and was wondering how to download information & update them all at once, rather than having to click on each and hit download. (Selecting ‘group operations’ and using the checkboxes doesn’t seem to work?)

I would enjoy an expanded Statistics section with html output, but otherwise, very nice software — I think I’m switching.

  39. Organize movies, well I have mine in a cabinet in alphabetical order so why would I need to use this program for? Keep a list of movies in case the house burns down can’t see that because the computer will burn with the house. In my opinion can’t see anyone needing a program like this unless they have 1,000′s of movies even so I see no way in my mind spending 40.00 for a program like this.

Someone mentioned they use other freeware software, I also started using “Coollector” and to tell you the truth, Movienizer ROLLS ALL OVER COOLLECTOR there is more then double the features in this software then there is in the other it just proves “You Get What You Pay For”.

  42. I don’t particularly like the interface of this program. Of all the movie database programs I’ve tried (Eric’s Movie Database, All My movies, and Movienator) Movie Label 2011 is the best. This program could take a lesson from Movie Label’s ease of changing databases, how it shows movie trivia while it downloads the information, and the configurability of how it displays movies. When I tried to make a new database, the default location it took me to did not include the original database where I had installed a sample movie. Why not just put a drop down list of your available databases and select them by name rather than the more cumbersome method of navigating to the database every time? I’d say this program needs more work to make it worth money rather than freeware.

  43. Its sad to see this software being put down by a few I reckon myself that the software makers are on the right track, and though am not a movie buff nor use this If I were this seems to appear a genuine software that I would be interested in, am sure of that! There are too many personal comments here that does not help the vendor from improving the software, in which they have asked for for you to add your comments for improvments if needed to make this even better. You should refrain from making personal comments as the Vendor has made the message quite simple and plain and good luck to them. I reckon the vendor deserves 3 stars for honesty and integrity, so make comments that are directly for users…not for critics who do not try it, including me…I support this Vendor due to their honesty and integrity and like many here support constructive criticism.
    Good Luck Movienizer

It seems lot like hooking a fish – sometimes it catches but keeps slipping away, sometimes page change takes 1-40 seconds…
But it is all easy compared to activating a program. Firefox at least is holding net by its corner and can usually shake some pages out of it, and it shows me nice green process bar too. Poor activating process has to make new connection every time – and it won’t get through. Could it be made to try for hours (or forever…) until connection happens? I just don’t know how to ram it through.

I did force-feed some movies into the program, and results are quite nice, though it was too bothersome copy-paste. But now I can see important info at a glance – director, covers, summary… It would be nice to somehow force Movienizer to connect. If I have imdb page open in Firefox, and Movienizer times out and can’t download that same info from imdb – it’s frustrating.
In the demo of editing movie info I can see ‘Format’, ‘Disk#’ and ‘Location’ – those do not exist in my Movienizer. Is it because of trial version? But ‘limitations’ screen does not list them. Also, edit -> description tag – there’s area for summary and something else. Name of ‘something else’ is half covered by summary area.
In the areas for ‘Directors’ and ‘ Writers’ are 2 columns – but right one seems unusable. Can’t name it or enter data. Can only drag it to be very small.

And I really DO NOT like that Movienizer always opens restored down – which is actually bigger than maximized window!

All in all, if I manage to activate then it’s a keeper (after all, troubles with my connection can’t last forever).

  45. Another thing this Vendor is looking for ideas to improve his software and make it the best so is looking for ideas to add to it to make it the best and see how it runs on various os. So if your unhappy with it the vendor may know how to deal with the issue or add it in a later version.

  46. I have been wanting an application like this since I have a very large DVD collection.
Installed on Pentium M 2.0GHz 2GB RAM laptop running Win 7 Ultimate.
    Installed and registered fine.
I have cataloged all my movies using MS Excell. This program doesn’t import .xls files so I exported my file to a .csv file, then I was able to import into Movienizer. Easy enough. You can customize what and how it imports. Once your database is imported you can download movie information from the internet. It uses 9 different English websites and a bunch of other languages.
It does a lot of stuff I really like, like being able to marking movies that you’ve seen or loaned out.
I’ve just started playing with it, but I really like what I’ve seen so far. This is a definite keeper. And to those that have criticized this giveaway because you don’t think it’s useful for you and haven’t even tried it, shame on you.

  47. OK software but not very flexible and data available is not as robust as hoped – if you want the best value AND best product, pay for Collectorz Movie Collector – their Book Collector is the best software program I’ve ever purchased for record-keeping and database management and movie collector is similar – can even scan books (and movies for Movie Collector) into your database or add automatically from their on-line database for customers- then you can slice anyway you wish for viewing or printing (simple list to complex).

  48. This is a simple question. Does the program make an automatic search of all the movies in a given drive or do you have to it manually? I have tinkering with the program and it gets even music!! What iI am supposed to do?. I haceve a folder with many many films in an external drive and … nothing happens. Thanks,

  49. I’m very happy with this software. With over 100 movies you may loose your overwiev. It may happen that you get movies twice. I think this software can help to avoid this.

  50. I have been using Movie Collector for several years now. So, I didn’t download Movienizer. When I was looking for a cataloger, Collectorz was the best one out there for the price. From what I read this program does most of what Collectorz can do.

#24 Collectorz.com Movie Collector does support barcode scanning.

The important thing for me when I was looking, was the ability to download the information from the internet, because I didn’t want to have to put it in manually. Before that I was using an access database and putting in the minimal information.

  51. I downloaded Movienizer, ran the Setup file and the Activation.exe file, but there is no activation code to enter to register. How do I activate this so that my installation won’t remain this trial version?

  52. Okay, still trying to play with this and figure it out, can someone help me. I go the page where you can put other information, such as colour, or black and white, there are several other items you can customize, but when I click on the “…” to do so, it doesn’t save this info. I want to be able to show which movies are on DVD and which are on Blu-Ray… I even go into tools, and options and custom fields, and try to edit them there but it doesn’t save it when i exit there either. I figured the problem was that perhaps this software is limited by trial or something so I tried to confirm that it is activated, and when I go to help, it asks me for registration code that I received in my email… I don’t have that… please help…

  53. NOT BAD as with all software it takes a while to get the hang of it.
Can it print a catalog? that would make this good software great.

  54. Using XP SP3 this installed OK but had to restart PC to stop what seemed like it starting twice each time I ran it.

It seems all right but I don’t think it’s for me because you can’t search Amazon and in particular the UK one to get information on Region 2 DVDs.

    Free Alternatives

    Datacrow
    Personal Video Database

  55. Loaded and runs fine on WinXP, SP3. I have been using this program for several years and its great. I generally don’t comment on comments because I feel that others may have had more experience with the program than I. However, many of the comments are off base. It does produce a myriad of reports as long as you remember to filter first using search or quick filter. The “sort title” is a new feature that will allow you to address language issues or simply get rid of having all the movies beginning with “The” together. I’d like to see a global update (see my “add my idea” comment)and return the location field. My earlier database had a location field on the edit page and the new one has retained the field for searches but I can’t find where to enter it for new movies.

All in all a great program

  56. I used Movienizer Portable over a year ago and liked it. Simple and powerful. Back then it was free (as was the non-portable version). There were some bad feeling when the author released the new version as ‘trial and pay’ without making it clear. Those who upgraded ended up with crippled databases and had to jump through a lot of hoops to roll back their databases and use the ‘old’ free version. Looking back I think it was a poor communication problem with the author and no deceit or trickery was intended.

Many of the criticisms in this thread are baseless and show that the critic hasn’t bothered to use the software — and in some cases, hasn’t bothered to read the info on the website! To give a “Thumbs Down” implies that it doesn’t perform as promised, not “I can’t be bothered spending 10 minutes to learn the basics”!

#1: It does a lot more than “pull from IMDB”. It gathers info and graphics from many online databases, all of which are selectable. You can even add your own scripts to pull info from other sites and databases.

#4: You can format the reports any way you choose — including listing by whatever field you choose. Your “Thumbs down” is 100% unfair!

#7: It won’t read the bar code of a ripped DVD for obvious reasons (it’s not there!). However it will get the info if you provide the title.

Re EMDB v Movienizer v AllMovies. I’ve used them all. AllMovies was OK. No great. But OK. EMDB was easy to use and very portable but lacked hte resources of Movienizer. Movienizer was the best movie database program I found FOR ME.

A note re using the portable versions of this or any other similar product — better to copy the folder to a machine and do the updates and then copy back. I found that building a database and updating it was very slow on a USB stick because of the constant rewrites. — also a good way to significantly reduce the life of a USB stick.

  57. How do you know what the limitations are, other than 50 titles… etc… I am having the same issue as Joel, post 52, and something up higher. I would like to specify which movies of mine are DVD and BR, etc. I can’t figure out how to do it. And I also show that it is asking for registration code still. I installed the exe file, then clicked on the activation file, as per the instructions, is there something else I have to do?
