  2. System Requirements for Solar System - Moon 3D Screensaver:

    * Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/Vista
    * Videocard with Pixel Shader 2.0 support
    * DirectX 9.0

    So unless you have an actual graphics card installed that has been around since 4 or 5 years you can’t run it. Yes I do have one myself but not ever PC user in the world has. Or to put it differently, one has to have a fairly decent graphics card (and no, not everyone spends hundreds of dollars on graphics cards every couple of months or get one bought for them) to run a screen saver.

    A screen saver that is a 11.5 MB big download.

    Imagine being a elderly person in a rural area or being someone in a 2nd (let alone 3rd) world country.
    No high speed connection. Computer being a couple of years old already. Do you truly think that they are waiting for a program that runs when they aren’t around that takes forever to download and means they have to invest in a new machine? A program that uses more resources then the actual useful and entertaining programs on their hard drive.

    I don’t mind a screen saver while I’m at work. It kicking in when I’m doing stuff that isn’t computer related but it has to be not memory intensive, pretty, non distractive and very well done before it can charm me. A (bunch of) picture(s) that flies around the screen claiming to be 3D doesn’t do it for me.

    Msg From BuBBy: A Good point about the hardware requirements with these downloads - If someone is wondering what this “pixel shader” means to them, or if their card is “good enough”, this forum topic may help.

  3. Moon 3D Screensaver is excellant in all ways. Extreme detail,a great background sound (plays in 5.1 sound format) and probably goes through more changes than you would think.
    I am using a Nvidia graphics card G-Force 8600 GT super-clocked with an AMD 64 Athlon X2 processor 2.81 GHz with 2048 Mb RAM.
    Awesome!
