It shuts down before a picture and music mix is accomplished. I attempted to create the movie several times with the same result. MS Windows XP 64.

This program and some other video manipulation programs such as sony vegas will cause Windows Media Center in Vista to stop functioning with tv tuners. Uninstall and everything is back to normal.

After downloading I found MuveeNow 2 runs on Vista but crashes semi-randomly. It crashes particularly if I put more than a couple of avi files in and more than, say, half a dozen jpgs. It also usually crashes with more than one wav audio file or with some formats of wav. However, on the plus side, it was free and might be useful once I've figured out all the things to avoid doing.

This is a pretty good program, I did have to put it on another hard drive as to not take up so much room on my main one.
I like the fact that you can email it once you are done, BUT it takes sooooooooooo long to process the "movie" and i only tried it out with 14 pictures.
with preclick i can do 100's pf pictures and it doesnt take that long to process.

I installed the program. It installed well. But when I run the program, this message appear "For security purposes, this program will not run while system debuggers are active. Please remove or disable the system debugger before trying to run this program again."

I use windows 2000 server and at the time of running the program I do not have any debugger running.

I planned to uninstall it.

After a couple of years of GOTD, this was my first really bad experience.

I was just barely able to recover and restore my system after the muveeNow 2 install.

It totally in capacitated my Media Center.

Well, after all the complaints about the system requirements (who doesn't have QuickTime?) and the small (yes, small) filesize, I have a legitimate complaint. This installs a great many codecs, and alters existing codec filters, and other multimedia-related registry entries. It thoroughly broke my MCE 2005 installation. I couldn't repair the damage, and had to use System Restore (at least it sets a Restore Point). I'm still cleaning up the mess that System Restore made. I do get tired of multimedia apps breaking each other. Since muvee has been around for some time and should know about compatibility issues, I have no choice but to vote thumbs-down.

To the people who are disturbed by the large file size: You are taking quantity over quality. The program needs all that file space to deliver its professional features. If you'd rather have a small, crappy movie editor, that's your choice.

I've been a user of Muvee's producer since version 4 (now 6) so I didn't have to download this great product. I agree with #14 but unless you're really talented & have a whole lot of time to edit your own, the "lack of control" is a good thing. Not just transitions, it makes your still photos look like they're in motion. But I always thought the additional styles were a little pricey for what they do.
If you don't like it you can always delete the 100 megs but this program is worth buying another drive for all of the great looking stuff it creates for you.

GAOTD Team - a few days ago someone suggested that it might be a good idea to implement login for comments as in the forum.

I am inclined to agree but would add that comments could also be left by passers-by but only with the tag ANON or some such thing...

The registered users would be tagged by their login name, etc.

Sometimes I think some posts are not by the actual person being represented as typed in.

Thanks for this site!

per,
Use the activate.exe from the zip file. It will give you a product key. Use that key to "purchase" the software when you start muvee2 program. That will get rid of the "trial" version and will give you full access to the program. Hope this helps.

#106 Thanks Kiril that may help with the starting of the program perhaps it's searching for the QT dll files but if I'm not using MOV files and have no desire to save to that format either it should not be a requirement for the program to operate correctly - and yes I am aware that it is listed as an OS requirement - this does not make sense to me.

I am not a fan of QT - I do however install QT Alternative once in a while and do have already installed the last K-Lite codec pack that included QT Alt of that release.

Anyway it need not be a requirement - there should be a dummy QT file if you don't want QT so the app would run successfully with the codecs you want to use.

I may try your suggestion later just to see if that is the crash problem though

I doubt it will fix audio synch probs

Peace!

I did upgrade my 56k modem, it now lets me know when a call is coming in when I'm on line. Guess there's alot of people here that have limited knowledge about outside the city limits. High speed isn't available everywhere, neither is cable but at least I don't have to lock my doors.

installed crashes 50% when launching app - crashed also when making file - had to try 3 times for 1 successful file (restarting program and loading files again)

The "successful" file which was a video with audio already the resulting file audio was way out of sync...

I have WinXP Pro SP2 on one partition and SP3 on another - same probs

some of the effects are cool but this is not stable on XP Pro (at least for me and some others it seems)

All in all I think this is a bit bloated for what it does.

I also tried 2 suggestions here - Memories On Web and Photo Story 3 - cool small simple fast - I give both Thumbs up - Not as fancy (no Urban theme etc. but work well)

Oh and Pinnacles VideoSpin is for video not photos (basicaly a stripped down version of their Studio product to get you hooked to upgrade :-)

And to the ones saying Upgrade because it's 2008 please try to understand that there are factors for some people outside of your little worlds - poverty, lack of available options for broadband, etc.

Perhaps you could send them what they need as you can probably afford to do so...

Okay guess I'm done bitching - thanks for the opportunity to check the software out!

Thanks GAOTD, sounds like a great program. I would have loved to had this one but for those of us who can't afford DSL, I'm afraid that after getting home from work, the time limit would have expired by the time I got it downloaded. But thanks anyway. Maybe there's another one out there not quite so big. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

You people complaining about Vista need to grow up. Yes vista was a pain and had problems in the first year just as XP did for about 2 years... Its a NEW RELEASE. Thats what SERVICE PACKS are for!
I use both XP and Vista.... Vista took some getting used to... that was all! It's not terrible, it's not going to make your pc explode.... The only people that have issues are the crazy ones that try to upgrade a Win 2000 or below PC to Vista and have only 256mb.. Crazy people Vista Requires AT LEAST 2Gb RAM and a dual-core processor to run decent.
There is nothing wrong with the program itself its users and the PC manufacturers not having the Requirements met!!!

Thank you everybody, for the >119 negative votes, I want to apply now to the "Guinness World Records of the Giveaways". I am really proud of it.

#72 has commented that this 100MB program adds more than 10,500 entries in the registry. This means that if you use an instalation program for a later uninstall, you will be waiting forever (+10min.) until it finishes scanning the registry.

Hahah! People complaining about 100mb in 2008? WTF? Thats nothing! It takes like 5 min to download (guessing no one have a 56k modem and if they do UPGRADE!) , and pretty much everyone have over 100Gb HDD`s as a minimun now. Im stuck with 2TB myself. (And thats without the external HDD's)

Nice enough program that does what it says. Simple for novices, but I was hoping it would be a bit quicker. I am always looking for simple, specialized programs for small tasks like this to keep from having to drag out Nero 7 Pro and waiting for that horrid load time.

P.S. Since when is 100 MB something to be concerned about??? People are acting like it is still 1994 with there 1 GB HD's and 222mhz pentiums!

BUY A REAL HD **********!
