GAOTD is a super place to get the "feel" of new programs that you have never thought of using. Some become essentials in our lives interfacing with our computers. Others are simply items we remove at one time or another. What would be nice is a utility that actually restores the computer back to the state it was in prior to the installation of that new program you no longer want or need.

  2. There is such a program I use it, Norton Ghost 10.

I used drive image before Norton aquired it from powerquest.

I go back to an image at least 3 times per week.

There is another thing you could also try and that something like Ashampoo UnInstaller Platinum v2.81, which records during installation all activity, then when you uninstall it using the app it removes everything.

It would be nice to see a good program that allows you to build webpages in flash for the inexperienced in flash animation.

  6. the above thread: Ha!Ha! that sounds sarcastic (if its a joke). Adobe and all other well known brands wont give their software away here- that's for sure. :)

@David re 8start Launcher you have to go to softpedia to download it, don't know why but the link on their site doesn't work. And yes it is a freeware. Copy and paste this web addy as I don't know how to post a link yet.... hint hint to the more knowleadgable members,

For my own wants I think it would be nice to have a poll taken on different type of application/programs/utilities we would all like to see given on GAOTD, would be easier to see the global picture, cause right now the thread is getting long, and I'm sure there will be a lot of doubles and triples, and some forgotten and what not.

Also it is hard to figure out some of the programs that some members post as some of us are not familiar with the names or specs of these, but then again it might be just what we were looking for. OK that was my 2ยข worth for today.

Forgot to post my own wants LOL.

A secure multiple downloader that doesn't have spyware adware in it, like you know the one Rapidshare used to offer when they were .de, it was a very nice downloader.

I've tried a few others but they somehow always ended up with a warning either by Spybot or Avast, so I got rid of them.

    nanook:
i use orbitdownloader, it nearly works with everything, plus, is also
download streams from nearly all streaming sites like youtube.com, or
google, or quicktime movie trailer site... like every streaming site :)
    www.orbitdownloader.com

sometimes, when it does not work, i use getright, its nagware, if you
dont pay for it, after several dls, it will let you wait for a minute,
before it lets you start the download.

I remember a program, similar to Password Safe, except it recognised whenever you landed on a page that required a password and if you had been there before, it asked if you wanted it to fill in the information you had previously stored - and you just indicated "yes" or "no" and it filled in user name, password and whatever was required - right into the appropriate spaces.

But the great part was - it recognised pages requiring password info even if it was the first time you were on that page - and asked if you wanted the info you were about to enter included in its database.

It was shortly after I found GOTD that someone here suggested it, I believe as an alternative to a giveaway, and I had been enjoying it for a couple of weeks - on a trial period - then lost it in a "Restore" and couldn't remember the name. I would have paid to keep it, but I never could find it again. It would make a great Giveaway!

Some time ago you published CHM Editor. It is a great tool, but I missed it. ( Damn holidays... ;) ) Is there a possibility that this tool will come again? ( I saw that there were some other tools where it was this case. )

I'd like to see Sony's Sound Forge 9.0 as a giveaway.

It's a very good audio editor. I've been using the earlier version of this software for all my audio editing needs.

Ever thought of offering some creative writing software such as, "Prose Pro", "Write Pro", or "Fiction Master"? I'd love to see something like that.

Another suggestion - possibly a try out of one of the cross-stitch design programs?

DFX Audio Enhancer of course (http://www.fxsound.com/). And also Volume Logic (http://www.volumelogic.com). These two apps combined do magic with the sound from supported music players.

Hi jkinnu, not sure if you are coming back at this thread, but in case, you want to try out similar freeware programs, that do similar things as the two you wanted to have as giveaway, i have two suggestions:

for streaming and recording online stuff, so far, orbitdownloader did everything i wanted, though of course, i don't know how powerful it is in comparison to Replay AV 8
    http://www.orbitdownloader.com/
    userguides:
    http://www.orbitdownloader.com/grab++.htm

    High Criteria's Total Recorder Professional
for this one, today, the newsletter of donationcoder, someone had several suggestions for recording everything that is coming out of the pc,

Can I put in for MPEG Video Wizard DVD, from Womble Multimedia- http://www.womble.com/ ? it's not the top name of the video editors out there, but has features that make up for lack of a big name. More than I've had time to try, actually.

And it runs on an Athlon XP, which IIRC Adobe Premiere/Elements won't as it needs sse2!
Nor does it need WinXP to run, either. check it out.

Right handy for people who have dvd camcorders, since MPEG-2 .vob files can be used directly. Not to mention people who get tasked to find how to edit those little &(*)^*& dvd's without re-encoding.

Face, could you be talking about AI Roboform? www.roboform.com, 30 clams.

Oh, and upsidedownwaffle, go to http://www.smallvideosoft.com/ and download the free Freez Screen Video Capture 1.2- it records screen activities and sounds as standard AVI video. Works well for me on win2kpro. a few other neat freewares there too.

rochdaker, have you looked at FAVC 1.04? http://www.videohelp.com/tools/FAVC , It needs Avisynth v2.56a and .NET 2, but sounds like what you want.

  27. I see a lot of sync programs on gotd, but I don't remember seeing a lot of comparison programs. I've tried this one and it save me tons of time comparing several different copies of a bunch of text or binary files:

Would love to see it come across gotd!

Huh, now you mention dupe finders, how about a 'similar photo' program? Here's 3 I haven't tried (PictureRelate I've tried but hasn't AFAIK the license structure to relate to GAOTD. I could be wrong, so here's the page: http://www.walthelm.net/picture-relate/)

here are a trio with conventional licensing that might work out:

Visual Similarity Duplicate Image Finder http://www.mindgems.com/products/VS-Duplicate-Image-Finder/VSDIF-About.htm

    ImageDupeless,http://www.imagedupeless.com/en/

    PhotoSort, http://www.asmdev.net/products/photosort/
