I've used this since the last giveaway in April 2014. I didn't have any problems at first, it installed fine. Recorded the macros fine. Ran the macros fine. But now, (possibly after some windows updates, not sure) the program hangs in record mode, and I lose all ability to click anywhere. I must ctrl, alt, delete, to detach its tentacles from my system. I can't find any help, comments or faqs regarding this hanging issue anywhere on the software website. Very limited information on their site. I consider this failed software if I can no longer record with it. Thumbs down.

You can register it. Here's what I did.
An icon for the program should be in the expended system Tray.
Right-click on the icon. Then, right-click on OPTIONS. You'll probably find a registration button there. If not, try About.

I tried to install this after downloading (Windows 7) and kept getting message in a window labelled Giveawayoftheday "Failed to connect. Please try again." Tried three times downloading a new zip file and got the same message three times in a row when I ran the setup.exe file. Restarted my computer and it still happened - same message - downloaded a new zip file each time.
Any suggestions - it is getting late so may not be able to take advantage of this offer. Too bad.

#9 Thanks Mickey. You answered just the question I wanted to ask.

The key problem with such macros is that they seem to be oriented to the screen parameters rather than to windows or panels, and as such they are useless unless you have all your windows/panels located on the screen in the same position at all times.

Installed this, no problems. I used it to record an operation that would open a program, log in to the program, close an alert box (if there)and then close the program ti repeat all the steps a second time, and then close out the easy macro recorder program. I was pleased to find out that if the alert box wasn't there the program didn't freeze up, it continued and went to the next step without a hitch. Nice free program. Thank you!

Right click, About tells me this is an unregistered copy. Right click, Options, Register and there are fields for the name and key. Maybe if you already have an older registered version then the old registration details will carry over to the new version, but others shouldn't read the earlier comments and assume that their own copy is pre-registered. It seems to be running okay on my Windows 8.1 desktop but I haven't tried to record a macro yet.

I agree with others that it doesn't work on Windows 8 after starting the program it freezes OS and I have to do a ctrl-alt-delete and go into task manager to unfreeze

Downloaded on Win8.1, 1T Hard Drive, 4x2 - 2+GHz Multi-Core Processor, 8GB DDR3 SDRAM, and installation was smooth.

Even though installation was smooth, I a confused...

There is a desktop icon for the program, but whenever I try to open it, nothing happens. There is also an icon in my system tray. When I right click it, I am presented with a list that includes 'Record', 'Play Back', 'Options', 'Macro Hotkeys', 'Macro Editor', 'About', and 'Exit'.

There is no real central user interface. Shouldn't there be a main/home interface where all the features are displayed and can be launched from?

Installed OK but clicking the icon does nothing.
Bit of a disappointment.

Ran Setup as Administrator twice; both attempts yielded the following:
Error creating registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mac
RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 5.
Access is denied.

Click Retry to try again, Ignore to proceed anyway, or abort to cancel installation.

It is one of the first of this kind that I have used (probably that was version 3.9). I liked it at the time but it wouldn't have helped me much even if I had continued using it. I don't know about the latest versions yet but, based on a quick visit at its site (http://www.flashplayerpro.com/MacroRecorder/), nothing significant seems to have been added. It lacks what I would tip users to seek in programs of this kind; detection and flow elements.

So have in mind that there are many other automation programs (free or not) that are much more powerful than this. Unfortunately I haven't tried Autoit (http://www.autoitscript.com/site/) yet, which is free and one of the most prominent. It also is portable and can create executable files out of the macros the user makes and I think it has a very active community. Since some time now I use Quick Macros (with an "s" at the end, not Quick Macro). This, too, has a portable edition, it is of a lifetime license and with it you can create, use and distribute programs without restrictions. Its regular price is $40. I purchased it for less than the regular price of today's giveaway while in a discount at another site, where several info has been given by the programmer and the users. To the Quick Macros' users the much used phrase "tons of features" sounds like an understatement(!) because this gem has an amazing collection of tools, plus the ones already posted (or being posted day by day) and tweaked in the forum by the users and the extremely responsive developer who also helps you with your queries. ***Everybody*** that is interested in this type of programs should visit the main page and I suggest to compare the price to the ones of other programs which are inferior (you're in for a surprise!!).

All in all, today's program is a good introduction for new users to this genre but it's a matter of time before you realize that you need more features from an automation program and then you'll wish you had started using your final choice a lot earlier!

I have used this for years on XP. Now that I have W7 installed, was glad to find it here. I installed, registered, but for some odd reason, when I am recording a macro none of the HOTKEYS I establish to STOP the recording will work, nor will moving my mouse and hitting the STOP button!

I had this program before and is easy to record, however, if you change the screen resolution or you zoom in or out or use it on a network, it will either freeze or stop functioning in the middle of the execution of the macro when running and a hard reboot will be needed. I lost so much time and frustration with it and at the end uninstalled it forever.

Thoughtful give away but its garbage nonetheless. Felt strongly about the product and thought I would be writing a positive review today but turns out its one of the worst giveaway's I have ever used.

Installed without any issues but problems started once I initiated the program. The computer just hung up in the worst way possible. The screen was absolutely still until I ctrl+alt+deltd it. Then it said, EasyMacroRecorder was interrupted! That notification pissed me off in the worst way possible. Interrupted my arse.. Not at all recommended.

Instead go for Mouse Recorder Pro. Don't shy away just cuz it says "Pro". Its actually free and much helpful. There seems to be a bug though. I tried writing something n recorded it. But when I hit playback it altered my text. Use with caution. Save whatever text you have typed before you decide to hit playback. Link provided below..

I tried a few of these programs years ago, and as Jim W (#1) points out, the big downside comes when editing a macro since instructions are hard to find between all the mousemoves.
Most likely you end up frustrated since there is no way you can trace which event happens where in the file (unless you perfectly remember what you recorded), so there is no easy way to use searches within your macros. Editing a macro weeks or months later therefore is a disaster.

But, once you start editing macros, you most likely have at least a bit of programming skills, even if that means your knowledge is limited to "Hello World".
That is enough to start out with Autohotkey, a scripting language that isn't hard to learn, yet very powerful.

ps. I am in no way affiliated with this program or it's community.

Re #3, it runs fine on my W8.1 64 desktop. And on the virtual XP Pro, that Microsoft is kind enough to provide free of charge to any licenced W8 user. But you have to use VirtualBox to run it if you only have the cheapest W8 version.

I used a spreadsheet to generate a macro to transform a tedious manual repetitive task into an automated script for Easy Macro Recorder. It runs fine.

Does this program require the computer to be actively in use to operate? I.E. if a laptop PC settings allow auto-connect to Wi-Fi, but it is hibernating with the lid closed, would the macro still function?

If not, that would be an awesome feature to incorporate into a macro software!

Uninstalled the previous Version 4.51 given by GOTD.
Installed this Version 4.8 given by GOTD.

The software seems to have automatically activated on its own.
It did not ask for any new code and there was no "Register" button anywhere to key in the new code.

Perhaps the code from Version 4.51 was still in the PC even after un-install.

I paid full price for this program five months ago. Using it in Windows 7 64 bit. I can say it works great. I run a few macros, and use two monitors. Flawless so far.

The only thing is that the developer promised to update it for windows 8 and I don't think it will run on that yet. I am surprised they have not did a windows 8 version yet.

Pros:
Easy to use. Instructions are almost unnecessary. Effective way to automate repetitive tasks. As good as ghostmouse!

Cons:
Difficult to stop or pause.
Sometimes freezed screen while recording, making recording a macro impossible.
If you happen to be using windows 8 the mouse movement function sometimes not work.

Conclusion
If you need a entire record, you can try this one. If not, just use some normal screen recorder.

I don't think the setup instructions are accurate. It appears that the software is pre-registered to Giveaway of the Day. There is no option to register within the software that I can find.

There are many macro recording tools available, but this one is the one I've been using for years. Thanks for the free copy, Gold Solution.

The interface is spartan, and this tool seems made for more technical users. It could be made easier to use, but most people who would think of using macros will probably find this very easy to use.

One suggestion for those trying this for the first time - When recording macros, try to use the mouse as little as possible. If you have to edit the macro, you'll find a lot of mouse movement recorded that may be confusing to sort through. If you use keyboard shortcuts as much as possible, the recorded macro will be easier to follow.

Thanks again.
