Downloaded, installed, and registered with no problems. Doesn't do much, and only does that with avi files ... but it is small, loads quickly, and does what it claims quite well. (Why wait for one of my full-fledged editors to load, then load a file, just for a simple edit, when this program will have finished the job in the same time?) Only two complaints: the price is a bit steep for such limited functionality, and it should have a "play" button.

My copy crashes with "indice Imagelist incorrect". List of options is very poor when u compare it to free virtual dub. Thumbs down this time.

Download and installed on Windows 7. Opening AVI files ended up in a message box that said "check codecs".
Clicking that spins in an endless loop and eventually dies.
I have the standard codecs - so no idea why this can't find them.
Went to forum for help - not a single post.
Hope this helps someone thinking about downloading. Hope you have better luck than me.

Couldn't properly load even a single clip from all my "avi" collection. How lame! All I could do was exctract sound, nothing more.

However, comments, alternatives and discussion such as from Ashraf and Giovanni and others are welcome and appreciated. These are what make me, and many others, come to GAOTD every day.

Really? In 2014?

OK, haven't actually tried today's offering, but we have used a couple of KC Software's other apps and they are very good. Their KCleaner is a strong rival for the well-known CCleaner, and that's a high compliment. And their Zer0 file eraser app is really quick and effective - our old file shredder used to take many seconds to erase a large file but Zer0 handles it in a snap. So, our experience shows in general that KC knows how to make a good app, and that means today's offering is worth a try if you have a use for its video editing features.

Tested OK (XPsp3).
Simple cutter/splitter.
Not sure I would buy (having a lot of freeware) but today it is not a case.
Maybe this program is OK for commercial use where freeware is prohibited.

It installed successfully on windows 7 64bit. However when ever I tried to load an AVI file I got error messages concerning a dll failure. I tested about 6 different files all from various sources. There was also a message saying I should check my codecs.
As I have no problems either playing or encoding avi files, I decided to unistall.
Its a shame as I'm sure I installed a trail version last year which worked as it should. Prehaps it's just this version that is at fault.

Does it only work with AVI files? There should be a list of supported file types if it handles more. Otherwise I'm wondering how this would be better than VirtualDub. It could use some screen shots.

Those awards aren't very impressive. The Software Informer link goes to a page that says there's 1 user. The Softonic one says there have been 9 downloads, and the rating was average.

Ah, KC Softwares! One of the oddest developers around in that not only does it steadfastly refuse to take notice of any and all user feedback, it proceeds to make things even worse for itself with ever dafter marketing tactics.

This developer brought AVI Toolbox 2.2 to GOATD some time last year, and promoted it with the exact self-same product text that appears now. . . despite the fact that, er, no: what's on offer isn't and never has been a box of tools, nor does it allow users to video split, audio extract, or picture capture common video files like mp4, flv, wmv, etc etc.

I seem to recall not being alone last year in asking KC Softwares to stop playing around with words likely to mislead, but clearly, I'd have saved time and effort by not bothering. Here it is again with the same single file format tool -- one which failed to work for me last time around when it blamed me for not running the right codecs, even though the avi format was handled without difficulty by all other similar software on my computer.

A developer that took note of feedback on GAOTD would likely encourage me to re-try the latest version of its product, just to see if the codecs problem had been sorted, but KC Softwares' couldn't-care-less attitude is seriously discouraging. . . and its marketing, even more so.

Last time around, it was criticised for featuring well-nigh meaningless "awards" on this software's product page. Well, those "awards" are still there, but this time they're accompanied by one of the most hilariously counter-productive endorsements I've ever seen, anywhere: a link to Ashraf's own website in the list of "Awards & Reviews" and a dot tech appraisal featuring this memorable, er, commendation:

Where do I even begin to describe how terrible a program AVIToolbox is. . .

Sorry, KC Softwares. Can't fault you for your honesty, but really, a developer which thinks it's a good idea to (a) ignore all user feedback and (b) promote itself on the basis of a review that says how terrible its product is doesn't inspire me with any confidence.

Thanks as ever, GAOTD, but no thanks.

When I tried to uninstall it I found that it was nit responding so I has to go through task manager.
When my uninstall software had finished unistalling the program it found another 237 registry entries that this program had added.

I have never given a bad report to a giveawayoftheday offering before but this could be the first.
1. It downloaded 3 other programmes that I did not see anywhere to be able to refuse.
2. I tried to open an Avi file and all that came up was "Indice Image List incorrect. and
3. It said "Check Video Codecs". I tried a number of times with various avi movies and always got the same response.
4. I am now going to take it off.

The Homepage for this program says it has an *Editor's Pick" award, 4/5, from Software Informer.

Yet when you go to Software Informer, the only award they gave it was for being 100% clean of adware, spyware and viruses. There's also an award there from Softonic for being "average"; 3/5.

DISAPPOINTED.
Downloaded, unzipped, installed (as I have MANY times before from GAOTD), but when asked to register, "copy & paste" from "read me" only allowed the name and not the ABSURDLY long license number to be entered. Stubbornly hand copied (and double-checked) the LONG license number. Hit Enter - "Invalid."
Then noticed FOUR icons on my desktop, including three more than "avi toolbox."
A pity as this program would have been perfect for a video problem I have today.
But I don't like "bloatware" snuck in along with a GAOTD installation.
UNINSTALLED
(First time EVER from GAOTD).
I'll check back later in the day to see if the problems have been corrected.
Thanks anyway GAOTD.

I like this tiny (1.2 MB) tool and use it since it was given away here 2007-08-23 to extract mp3 from avi's of TV Comedy and Talk Shows I've converted.

It's portable. Keep user name and pass or extract registering details out of registry (in regedit.exe search "AVI Toolbox").

Thanks GotD and KC Softwares

I agree with Jugem at #1 When GOTD started the user rating was an important feature that tended to indicate how good or bad the software was.
People checked the software and rated it according to their findings. Many then entered a comment below about good/bad features or something that they found would help other people.
Nowadays I totally ignore the rating.
So many people click good or bad without checking out the software.
Negative ratings are given as people don't need that type of software for their personal needs, prefer another product, don't like the name, don't like the originating country of the software or I suspect are just in a bad mood and click the button because they can.
Please can users start using the button properly or can GOTD take it away.

The software doesn't run properly with any of my AVI files! In the display area there's nothing but a button that says "Check Codecs." Clicking on that button launches my default web browser and loads a page telling me to install something called "VideoInspector."

So I downloaded the install file for THAT program (from the same company, KC Software). During the install process I'm asked to approve some sort of software that claims to "improve" my "web shopping experience."

NO FREAKIN' WAY!!!

The LAST THING I NEED IS ADWARE ON MY COMPUTER!" I declined the installation (hit the "cancel" button) and aborted the install of VideoInspector. Even though the Agreement says the adware can be removed via the Add/Remove Program function of Windows, I simply REFUSE to install it in the first place!

I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH GOTD FOR OFFERING ME A SOFTWARE THAT ATTEMPTS TO LOAD ADWARE ON MY SYSTEM! What in the world is going on with you guys? You used to offer good stuff, but lately it seems like we're getting nothing but JUNK!

I've been publishing GOTD's "ticker" on my Facebook page because I've been a fan for years, but in light of recent events I believe I'm going to REMOVE IT.

It's the wee hours of the morning here, and I'll be out all day, returning too late to act on any response I receive to this comment - but I intend to see what sort of response - if any - that I receive.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit system. The installation procedure installs some unwanted shortcuts on the desktop.

A company without name and address with some known software products, SUMO or Audiograil for example.

When I test a software, the most important thing for me is: Does this software run flawlessly from the beginning, through understandable operations to a correct finish. If this is not the case...

In this case, AVI toolbox the easy movie splitter starts with a simple interface. I tried to open an .AVI file.

The first try results in a message : "Indice ImageList incorrect", the second try after a program restart gives a memory access violation on address xxxx in module AVITOOLBOX address 0000028. The third attempt on another .AVI files crashes the program.

Of course I test on good working .AVI files. For more tests, I have no patience.

Uninstalled, Useless, a banana product in the version 2.3. Probably the company starts with version 2.5 as the first working one...

Installed and ran ok with Windows Vista.
Tried to load various AVI files but wouldn't display any of them, then started complaining about codec.
Interface very uninspiring.
Website very uninspiring.
Uninstalled.
So many other programs available which do a much better job with loads of options. Not sure why we need another half-hearted attempt.

CopyTo and ConvertXToDVD would cost £60 on top and both products also seems to come from a different vendor, albeit with a remarkably similar web page interface.
