THUMB'S UP
This basic editor does its job as advertised. It is not Adobe Premiere! Just a little utility that does basic editing functions.
No issues with Codecs (but I previously installed K-Lite Codec Pack).

For those with Codec issues, the best likely solution is to install the mega version of K-Lite Codec Pack.
Google K-Lite Codec Pack. http://www.codecguide.com/about_kl.htm
A very safe and comprehensive package of the most stable codecs. K-Lite provides the right codec for almost all reputable video-related software.
BTW.
THANK YOU DEVELOPER for your cool video tool.

Downloaded and installed on Windows 10 Pro.
Registered with no problem.
Tried to open several .avi files with the same result - error message said I needed a codec.
Checked the .avi files with VLC and Windows Media Player - all opened and played with the codecs installed on this computer.
Obviously, either poor programming to not use codecs that are already loaded on a computer or intentionally trying to force people to download something else.
Noticed that I had THREE new icons on my desktop.
Two of the icons were .php file links - a disk cleaner (or something) and a driver updater.
Uninstalled ALL of the KC software and files as soon as I noticed the links were .php files.
I have not clicked on a .php website in the last 5 or 6 years - had to fix too many computers for people who did click on them.

Installed ok windows 7 ultimte. Tried to add 4 different .avi file and it tild me to check codec. Brought me to thair page to downloas KC video inspector to check the codecs. went to install and is is loaded with other spyware, spamware, junk like relevent knowledge, wajam, ect crap you don't want on your computer. I uninstalled as the codecs are not included to handle .avi files which is all the software handles.

There are so many free proven products (starting with VirtualDub) for manipulating AVI files I think the developer should spend more time with its other products. For instance, Machete splits without recoding, using key frames; how does this GOTD perform this task? Well, there is no information on that subject in the web site. And no, I will not download the product to find out.

Not nearly the amount of tools that VirtualDub offers.

Not nearly as complicated for the average user to figure out either.
If all you need to do is trim a little or capture screenshots, why burden anyone with VirtualDub's complexity?

Where have Giovani and Karl gone? Their comments were always useful. Just Asking.

Seems to me, at least in Karl's case, several people were always finding something negative to say. I believe most of us looked forward to Karl's review but there are always some that have to find something to complain about. But, since Karl is not writing reviews I don't see any of the complainers stepping up to write theirs. I for one sure wish Karl and Giovani would return as I looked forward each day to their comments and reviews.

I really like this. It is a good basic video toolbox, but it can have so much more if the developer worked at it. More input formats, etc.

In this version I have problems opening video's, due to a missing codec (intel itu h.264). But a previous version (2.0.0.34, also from Giveaway) works fine. So what's the improvement?
Uninstalled.

I'm having similar problems.....none of my .avi's from my dashcam work.....

I can view perfectly in WMP & VLC but they won't open in this program....just get a message to check video codecs.....disappointing

Easily resolve your Codec issue by installing the mega K-Lite Codec Pack. I have used it for years. Provides all the codecs needed to work with almost all reputable video-related software. There are so many codecs that you can't expect an 'economy' software to include them all.

Thanks for the offering but I am a little confused.

Please note that the software you download and install during the Giveaway period comes with the following important limitations: 1) No free technical support;??

But the FREE version (From your site) HAS Tech Support.

Does this version have the nag screen like the free version too?

This is a good vendor. He shows up a lot at Major Geeks. I would go ahead and try to avail myself of free tech support. It would probably work.

“Please note that the software you download and install during the Giveaway period comes with the following important limitations: 1) No free technical support;”??

Terry, this is just a disclaimer which always adorns this page regardless of the giveaway--and it usually applies. According to what you say about the free version, the statement may not apply today. :)

Easily installed and registered; thankfully was able to paste the 59 digits of the serial number. :-)

Much as I like simplicity in an interface, this is somewhat overdone as there is almost no useful information about the times.

Was able to extract images and video without any difficulty, however audio extraction remained greyed out.

Far too limited in its functions to even compete against freeware, it needs a lot of work.

The web page for this product does not exactly inspire confidence.

A few lines about some of the functionality and then the statement 'And much more !'

So why not use all the empty space on the page to tell everybody about just what is much more?

Installs easily on Windows 8 pro
Does what it claims. Accepts Avi format only.
Personally I keep mp4 because of it's compression ratio and my limited space therefore,
I would like it to to include a small converter.
Some freeware do this, why not include it in a paid version?
Just a thought.

The best converter, i'm aware of, to get (amazingly) for FREE is XMedia Recode (portable version also) @ www.xmedia-recode.de
