Rogue Killer is a dynamic program and one I highly recommend for use to countless number of people. I've ran it many of times and never have seen this issue.
Of course, now let's say you are correct and maybe perhaps this program removed your "OPEN WITH" and is missing and you just don't feel like performing a system restore...
just pop a visit to http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/52833-open-context-menu-item-add-remove.html
and download your easy fix.

Cheers

Heck i'll bite...

For those who complain about Giovanni suggestions or any other GOTD installations are not Sandboxable... the stuff most recommend is so get yourself a sandbox and avoid the headaches of not knowing what the installation does.. I see something I like here on GOTD you'll be damn sure I'll have a full backup because S**T Happens... just check the forums GOTD do their best but it's not a flawless system nothing is if it would be I'd be out of a job.

Not sure about a recommended software do like Giovanni does search search and search check the reviews and if pasting a name such as : "AV Video Morpher" Issues in google and it doesn't find anything well it's either way too new or one heck of a perfect program.

Today's giveaway a decent one but not everyone of them is, so do your homework and enjoy the freebies.

And few more remarks:
1) on my XP SP3 AV causes runtime errors "demanding" that I purchase or upgrade the software,
2) AV does not have all the features promised above (title editor).
3) Funny zone or something causes runtime error and displays nonsense Internet advertisements!
4) Except voice functions (that I did not try, but I read others did) there are no features that renowned free software would not offer at a more advanced levels.
IMO, software good for trash!

Sergio this registry entry should restore "open with..." to your right-click context menu entries...back up your registry with CCleaner or eRunt then copy this code to notepad and save as "open_with_fix.reg"

Be cautious tho as I have only tested this on XP SP3.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
;Adds "Open With..." to rightclick context menu

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers\Open With]
@="{09799AFB-AD67-11d1-ABCD-00C04FC30936}"

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
;Disable file association web-service - Bypassing "Browse web for program" to open unknown extension.
;"Open With..." becomes default

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"NoInternetOpenWith"=dword:00000001

Hi,
Tried installing on Windows XP SP3 [ Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.130307-0422:Service Pack 3, v.6 ]. Keep getting the message "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. ... enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "Destinations.msi" in the box below" .
Searched the whole computer -- including the Systems Folders -- for the Destinations.msi file, but could not find it, so could not install!! Would appreciate any help on this... before the time runs out..

Thanks in advance ...

Win XP SP installed and registered ok . Have not had time to play with the prog yet.

One of the reasons vendors offer their programs here is people have all sorts of set ups and operating systems and it gives them free field testing for any bugs or improvements to make a better product .

Giovanni cannot have tested the progs he recommends on ALL types of systems , and I very much doubt he even sometime tests them on his own set up. A Google search could find the progs he comes up with, sometimes full of spyware or malware or even worse break your system.

Re post 11 Giovanni you are wrong and you are out of order blaming XP Man it was his fault for trying out your recommendation, when clearly it was the prog you recommends fault. . One day someone will sue you when their system breaks as a result of your posts .

In view of the Giovanni lovers on this board , I dont care what others think of this post, as it is about time someone told Giovanni the truth .

Tom, once again you're absolutely right. But I did not was sufficiently good to emphasize the point that makes me more angry: it is the fact of lack of care for the things that people say. Featuring random things as panaceas proven. If I'm fool enough to try things without care is another question (maybe I should have learned from this episode the worst possible way). But the fact that I feel here as the one that are crying in the wilderness or crying like Cassandra or as the one who marches with the steps reversed, and this far actually managed to displease me. I hope to share with this learning which now being faced by me the inclusion of the decision to not do return to this site where opinions and people, in any way, are for me the least expectation of a pleasant day.
I hope at last you understand that although you are absolutely right, it's unpleasant to gloat about the naivety of someone else.

Can only agree with the many pro Ashraf and Giovani comments, whenever I need anything I search GOTD and see what has been recommended then hopefully I am able to make a more informed decision regarding what to install.
Overall I believe the (free) advice given by these guys has been excellent and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for the time they have spent on my behalf daily researching products 95% of which I will never need or use.
Rogue killer was one of the give-aways I have installed and it works fine on my machines.

#1 Sergio’s problem is much heavier than mine, but derived from installing a GAOTD-program, probably, if I only knew which one!? – Is there someone in this community to help me?

Whenever I do start my computer I get about 20 little windows and for any later started application another window, each headed by the started application name + Bad Image, saying, e.g.,
"EXCEL.EXE - Bad Image
X c\progr.3\browse.1\...\...\browse....dll
is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.
Try installing the program again using the original installation
media or contact your system administrator or the software
vendor for support."
I have to close these windows and then my Windows 7 machine seems to work fine apart from getting more ‘windows’ after any other application start…..
How can I get rid of these little windows or what else might help?
hman, desperately asking

@PokercheckerNr1 / Post #20.

I had the same problem. The file would not install. I assume it's now missing. I also assume it dealt and enhanced the 64-bit capabilities.

I reported the bug in the "How would you improve..." section, but I guess I worded it too long or something, as it didn't make it there.

But, I had/have the same problem, with the same file.

I'd like the Developer to offer that file separately & tell us where to put it (and hope he doesn't "tell us where to shove it" - LOL!).

Seriously, to the Dev or GAOTD - How about that file?

Thank you GAOTD and Giovanni/Ashraf for all that you do for us everyday. We are grateful. #1--Do either a system restore or you will have to run your recovery disks--but unless you wiped your harddrive clean, your computer is probably not "destroyed." Making mistakes is how you learn the computer. Try everything in your power to fix it and chin up...in time you will be an expert if you will research what is wrong and fix it. Most of the people here are people who are not shy to really get in there and click this, remove that, add this and that,(for better or worse, my favorite computer term is oops.) All of us have been in a jam like you. All of us COULD have blamed someone, but all of us learned until we learned how to fix it-(or find the cheapest repair shop we could.) There is a way. If you are scared of your computer, this probably isn't the site for you. The best thing would be to make do with what is already installed and be happy like most of the population.

Yes I was trying to be nice and instill some words of advise that I had learned over decades of hard work, and there are others here also that have offered you some very good advise too.

Again, instead of blaming others for your irresponsibility, lack of knowledge, maturity, and discipline, I would strongly suggest you educate yourself on backups, anti-virus, malware, and rootkit removal/prevention techniques, and have a disaster/recovery plan in place before you really get yourself into dire straights.

Everything above is free and available at numerous forums and websites, all you have to do is read, otherwise like I said find someone who is responsible and knowledgeable to do your system work.

Do yourself a favor and download/install this free program, "Toolwiz TimeFreeze" at, http://www.toolwiz.com/

Anytime you are about to download a questionable program just crank up TimeFreeze. It will save the details of your system -before- you download or install a new program.

If your computer acts up just click on the TimeFreeze icon again and follow the instructions (click the 2nd button) and your computer will be restored to the state is was in at the time TimeFreeze was started.

At the same time you might also want to get (free) WinPatrol that will monitor your programs and warn you of questionable things etc that are being loaded onto your HD.

By the way, I found TimeFreeze from one of Giovanni's posts here.

Thanks to Goto and the author for this software to try. Though it looks like a nice small capable package, I think I'll pass for various reasons but mostly, all the issues people to be having with obtaining a serial.

@23 - Tom. Really? Do you back up your PC EVERY SINGLE time you install a new driver or updates? Even those of us in the IT field knows that this doesn't happen in the normal user market. So, before you and G belittle someone for having "issues" with offered software or following advice, maybe you should remember not everyone has hours and external storage devices to back up their system everytime the hard drive light flickers. Just sayin

XP SP3

About 40 MB installed.
It may add some (MS) msvc*.dll files into /Windows/System32/, if required.

Has CHM help file.

> I couldn’t get it to do anything but start up the program

Installed, registered; that was easy.
Opened, then opened an FLV.
Applied an effect, Flying Objects, & they flew as the video played.
Was able to capture a sequence of screenshots (BMP).

But as of yet, I've not figured out how to save the video with the effects applied?

OK, you need to go to the Converter tab in order to save.
Output (video formats are; AVI or WMV.

You can set output size (dimensions), but there is no "as source" setting.

21 MB source FLV was converted to an 88 MB AVI, taking ~5:min.

I had no audio during the FLV's preview, & I had none after the conversion ? (There is none in the output.)
But I did get "Flying Effects". Given the source, Django Django Waveforms, "Flying Effects" fit right in.
Now if I can figure out where the audio went?

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xmvc3p_django-django-waveforms_music

File | Open does not show MP4 as an available "media file" type, though it does seem it can open/read MP4's.

Appears to work, my audio issue aside. Different aspects seem a bit disjointed. Probably need to spend more time with it then I have at the moment.

I was very surprised to read two negative comments about Giovanni's actions and recommendations. One blames Giovanni for what was 99% likely to have been his own fault, the other says he ignore's Giovanni's posts. Personally, I want to THANK Giovanni for all of his EXCELLENT advice and suggestions, and all the time and work he has put into voluntarily bringing them to us, with no compensation and not nearly enough thanks and expressed appreciation.

SO: Great Thanks to Giovanni, AND Ashraft, for all of the time and efforts you so freely give to us all.

among other things, restore points was also deleted at the same scan. And, please, stop being politically correct and nice guy and stop victimizing the victim. Prescribe medicine without really be a doctor is ... crime. If someone comes to a public space as this to advocate solutions then must also take responsibility for what he says. To the poster (#1) with the hate on for Giovanni: Who twisted your arm and forced you to do what you say you did? There's a gazillion sites out there listing freeware, are you mad at them too? Every time you go to make changes to your computer - the software provider almost always tells you to back up your computer first. DID YOU?

Here's Rogue Killer's author's recommendations before using. Did you read it?

"Overall, you should be very comfortable with system processes and the inner workings of Windows to safely use the program."

"RogueKiller is a straightforward, minimalist app that detects rogueware of all kinds. it's not for beginners though."

Advice is NOT a command. You take it and think it over as well as you would any other advice given. If Giovanni told you it was a good idea to go play on the freeway in rush hour, by your complaint, you would have done it. Grow up & learn to use your brain.

Thinking that someone is secular and benevolent enough to believe everything that is here and follow the suggestions that perhaps even have been experienced by doctors- in-the-free-stuff have suggested, then it is easy to transfer the responsibility of what was stated. If I say to an individual mentally retarded that a shot of a revolver is the ultimate solution to cure recurring migraines, entirely to blame for his death will only him?
Of course not all who follow the advice of your wise up mind here are just as wise and cautious as you.
And too much more I explicitei that I was a fool (it was "at my own risk"), what else is it to bother but the craze methodical people who daily here appears to behave as a super star by posting information as if could be guru or illuminator of mankind. Hear me?

@ 1. Sergio.

Although it's not the proper place to talk about this....

From Roguekiller page:
RogueKiller is a GUI-ed tool (since the new version), so it’s easy to use. However, one can have difficulties to interpret the results and know what needs to be fixed. This is normal and malware removal is somewhat tricky. Please feel free to contact us or better grab the scan log and post it on the forum. They know how to interpret it and they will guide you in the removal (for free, of course).

If you do what you don't understand, you may get what you don't want. Don't blame others for what YOU have done.

If you had GOOD or EXCELLENT security software, like Norton 360, that would not have happened, I am sure. I go to all of his recommended sites and only 1 was caught that could have been dangerous. Norton 360 warned me not to continue and I DIDN'T.

Stop blaming others for your own decisions. Take responsibility. If you do into something blind, you will come out blind, if you do not take the proper precautions.

Be sure your security software is active, up to date, and GOOD.
If you don't pay for it, it is probably so-so and won't catch everything that needs to be caught. HEAR ME?

#1 Sergio - Before you start blaming others for your computer problems, you should be prepared in advance and should have a "mirror image" or at least a backup of your current system at ALL TIMES, along with setting "Restore Points" for a easy recovery of your system. There are plenty of freeware programs to do all of the above, and W7 has a built-in backup and recovery system, so blaming others for your lack of the basics is reckless.

If you haven't done the above procedures then you shouldn't be downloading and installing ANYTHING, and should have a trained professional handle the administration of you system.

The only reason I pointed this out in my comment #7 was that the last time you recommended it someone else also had problems similar to mine.
I've used plenty of video editors and I'm pretty sure I know how to use it, but it just would not import a video.
My problems I believe were caused by the program downloading and installing a Microsoft C runtime, this I know can cause problems on a system that is on the verge of instability. My version of XP has been installed three years and so instability was a strong possibility.
#1 Sergio
You have posted your complaint a number of times, I believe your problems were caused by a situation similar to my own.

Had the chance to play with today's download even more than the only problem I've found is as Ashraf pointed out is that the length of time of the effect cannot be specified.

Thanks Ashraf for your reviews I find them most useful, whoever is marking you down, not difficult to do, is doing the rest of us a disservice, please desist!

Well the installation is interesting. I went to the first address (no 3 & 5) - http://www.audio4fun.com/gotd/movie-editor-get-serial-number-gotd.php and it gave an invalid s/no starting with "S". - I filled out the form twice and got the same S/no.

I then "activated" the program within the s/no entry box of the program which gave me a serial no starting with a "T".

BUT it was only a "Demo activation code" valid for 7 days (version 3.0.26.) I have a window telling me it will only work for 7 days.

So I would guess that I have installed is a 7 day trial?

I haven't got as far as actually getting around to trying it out yet. But if it's only a 7 day version, why bother at all ?

IS there a "proper GAOTD version", in which case how do I get a "real" serial number ?

Probably you don't know how to use it or don't have a PC with the right requirements....

So far I didn't find any negative review about it on the NET... get the drift?

Anyway they provide FREE support for one year if I'm not wrong...so why not ask them how to use it properly, giving them your PC features (CPU, GPU, RAM etc...)?

Your recommendation ivsEdits I personally found an absolute horror; I could not load any video files into it and when installing it, it installed some Microsoft files.
If you are going to try do it via an UnInstaller!

Giovanni you give us some great freeware but frankly would recommend people to stay away from this program as I'm sure it caused problems with my system.
