Abyssmedia Sound Converter Pro stops working after a while. It says that the version is out of data, and that a new version has to be downloaded. Can not do that since updates are not included, that's the condition. It also ask for a new serial-number for reactivation, or one can continue, but than with the Sound Converter as a trial that will only convert 50% of the playtime of the songs. The original registration data is still in place in registry, but this giveaway is obviously just a timelimited giveaway. This has to be taken care of by GAotD team, because Abyssmedia has clearly broken the terms.

I ended up uninstalling this one. It was not useful for me. I purchased a CD or the tracks to a CD from iTunes. Then made a regular audio CD as usual that I can play in any CD player. I ripped the tracks on this CD to MP3's using Audio Converter Plus.

Unfortunately these tracks don't behave like tracks I rip with my old Streambox Ripper freeware program. I'm not allowed to tag these tracks or add album art. They don't show as protected but they are restricted in some way. I dumped them and ripped them again with Streambox Ripper. I could then do anything I wanted to with these files. Go figure.

I also had problems activating with limited user settings. I had to activate again while in limited user before the time expired although I've noticed this happens with other programs I've downloaded from here. You just have to make sure to check if you use limited user settings. At any rate I could not run the program at all unless I used the "run as" feature and ran it as the admin.

This is by far one of the simplest audio converters I have come across. It aint fancy, it aint pretty, but it sure worked great. If you're a Ludite like I am and have difficulty tuning a bloody radio, this is the programme for you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've probably got two weeks of work now ripping my CD auido collection to MP3!

Options for converting were subpar compared to what I already had with winamp. Good for simple re-encodes.

Thank you for risking your registration and take the time to create a screen shot, upload it and post a link here so I can see the difference.

I read a lot of the posts here and in the GOTD forums and you are always helping people. You are simply awesome.

I hope this posts help others check their installations, but I doubt there are people as dense as I am, so it probably won't be too useful to any other user of this supreme service.

GOTD YOU RULE!

Cool. It think that it's better than the earlier audio convertor software since there are more audio files support.

The interface is attractive, but the coders might strongly consider integrating a fully-configurable option for MP4-audio(/M4A). MP4-audio is considerably more efficient and accurate than MP3, and is a distinguishing feature in modern audio format converters.

Your path to the key is incorrect. Also, you neglected to tell which subkey the user and serial is listed under. (2 subkeys for user)

Probably not a good idea to show people how to circumvent the activation process.

I cannot believe the people on here that complain about the "quality" or "quantity" of the software offered. I presume they would also complain about free money being wrinkled. Go to another site of STFU! Be thankful that anyone still offers anything free!

It looks nice, but everytime I try to convert WMA to MP3, it says "failed!". Also, my Dell Media Player won't load anymore. Has anyone else encountered these problems? The "help" files are pretty thin.

You have to run that activate.exe file. Then that will go away. Close the program first while running and be connected to the Internet.

P.S. You are welcome Granny Rhea ;)

I will repeat the same question I asked in #19 at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/audio-converter-plus/#commentt-5504

Maybe somebody can tell me to shut up and have faith or something.

I followed the instructions and my prog installed and activated, but I cannot see if it is activated because there is no place where it mentions full version or licensed to GOTD or personal.

Yes I am anal retentive. Yes the activated program window from GOTD popped. I have never had doubts before because I could always find info that was reassuring. How do we know it is the full version? What are the differences between full and demo versions.

To those recommending dBpowerAMP, I'll say that it costs money, Fixed income guys like me just cannot afford to pay $14.

This one is free and I can record from my electric guitar straight into the line/in jack and record voice from the mick jack. Now I have to figure how to do both at the same time.

Playback is flawless. Always remember to turn off the recorder before you switch input or output devices and there will be no crashes.

This will further my non-existent music career a thousandfold. Thanks GOTD!

I downloaded, installed and it validated with no problems! With just limited "playing" I think that this company (abyss) has another winner (like yesterdays)! I decoded .apes and flacs with accuracy and ease and I look forward to deleting a slew of dedicated programs which this all-in-one covers. Thanks for another SUPER-DUPER download!!!

Commenters #s 33& 41 ... Amen to that. Lots of people out here subsisting on s.s. or less.
Hugs, Granny Rhea

I guess I must just be ignorant and "lame" with this one. I have yet to figure out how to rip cd tracks to mp3. Tried ripping cd track to wav also.....no success there either. Both instances it creates a small file and says its done. Ha! It's done alright. And there isn't enough interest or info in the forums to help. This one may find it's way off my system as fast as it came on.

#21 "DA STEVENSON" WROTE: I like your site. But this audio converter only converts 50% of the source file (according to the login screen). What is the use of that? It’s a demo, not free software.
Comment by DA Stevenson — January 26, 2007 @ 4:28 am

WHAT Does the "DA" in your name "DA STEVENSON" stand for?
"DIDNT ACTIVATE" maybe?

Not a demo, mate. Read the README file.

More great software. Thank you very much. I fully agree with bluesongbird; as I have the same problem, due to someone driving into the back of me while I was cycling to work and breaking my spine in four places. No witnessess unfortunately, and they are trying to say it was my fault, so the insurance are fighting all the way with respect to compensation. Another example of greed, as all it will cost the woman who hit me is a loss of no claims, while I lost my job and my normal life. PEOPLE.

Yeah GoTD team, you've given me and no doubt lots of other people who don't have the cash some excellent and useful programs. I'm looking forwards to playing about with this one.
