Dear Apowersoft,

I downloaded and activated this GOTD software: Apowersoft Screen Capture Pro 1.1.3 (Win) on 29th March 2015.
I loved it very much and find it very useful.

Unfortunately, yesterday my hard disk crashed and now I have lost this free Apowersoft Screen Capture Pro 1.1.3 (Win)

May I request for it from Apowersoft?

Thank you in anticipation

Faststone Capture version 5.3 is free and perfect, with full image editor. This is an old version which by that time was free. You can find it here : http://faststone-capture.software.informer.com/5.3/. Captures also scrolling windows, but not in Firefox.
For firefox, there are addons like Awesome Screenshot, with editor included.
There is also lightshot capture : http://app.prntscr.com/en/index.html. Your keyboard print screen key activates it directly. Just press PrintScrn and select what you want to capture. And you can save or post on the net your capture freely directly getting immediately a link to access it. There is an image editor included. Free wonderful program. Here is an example of the link of a part of this page : http://prntscr.com/6n3l14

I'm having a curious problem. I have mulitiple users on my PC and for some strange reason, for one of the users, it will not show as registered? I Followed the steps as described, and when i go into one user, it works perfectly and looks like it is registered. But when i go into the other user, it gives me the trial pop up message and shows that its not registered (gives me the option to register).

I've tried several things including, running the Activate.exe while in that other user (that is not showing as registered). I have tried uninstalling and then re-installing for both users with the same results.

I have Windows 7 64. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Downloaded, but the activate program doesnt seem to do it's job. It runs, but doesnt seem to activate the software registration.
Anyway, let's test it while the trial is valid.
I did some tests, trying to record machinima with the screen recorder - but the frame-rate is far too low to be useful. Also - no audio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VREKOlGtksM&feature=youtu.be
As always, I will return to my beloved Fraps.

Thanks for the software, it looked promising.

I wanted to comment on this software as I already owned the software but from a gaming standpoint.

As a gamer I record clanning events for the clan I am in. This is a fairly decent screen capture/screen recorder to use compared to Camtasia. I don't personally use it for video edits but this is a great program for recording RuneScape wars and such. I had originally had a trial of this from a promotional event they held and then purchased it about two months later. Very useful and I actually like the screen capture options as well quite a lot. There may be some more more " direct" screen capture programs out there but alternative wise this is good and I would rate it easily a 9/10

Installed on 8.1 pro.

Easy to understand interface, that pretty much has all the options that you would want and just does the job that you would want it to.

The video screen capture also works well.

Can't fault it for what it does, although with many other free options out there, I would say that lowering the price to something around $10 would be a more fitting price to entice people to purchase it.

<cough) Ben, that link should be http, not https as you posted.

I prefer a capture tool with lots of features over ones like ShareX, because clearly unlike you, I only ever save captures locally.

No way would I ever use or trust any remote data storage I don't control, like the so-called 'cloud.' Clearly you do, hence I totally understand why you're a fan of ShareX.

How can you tell that this has registered? I looked at help and about and it does not state that this is a registered version. I always use Jet Screenshot and have found that to be the best program except the free version does not do the whole web page. Please get another free Jet Screenshot for GOTD. I know I can pay for it but for one or two personal uses per month it is just not worth it. Thanks for this program, hope it is registered.

I have been looking for a screen capture that will do a capture of a scrolling window for some time. It seems to me, as a non techie person, that there is a particularly difficult problem with this. Most screen capture programs when doing a scrolling window tend to terminate prematurly with a message "The page changed while being captured" and you end up with a partial capture (the top half of the window). I have now tried todays giveaway 3 times to capture this page (the page you are looking at now) in firefox as a scrolling window and it does not give an error message but it did terminate before reaching the bottom of the page every time and all I get is about the top three quarters of the scrolling window.
I hope you or someone at some point will overcome this problem.
The best I have found so far at capturing a scrolling window, and I have tried lots, is a free one called DuckCapture. Like the others it does have a tendancy to terminate prematurely but after 2 attempts with it I did manage to capture the whole of this page.
I hope my comment here helps with further development.

@ gerrymar. Greenshot has a scrolling capture function so I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "scrolling" but in anycase Greenshot requires the use of an IE browser to use this function. It will then capture a large image which, being too big for the screen, requires both vertical and horizontal scroll bars so that you can see all of the image. Greenshot will scroll both of these to capture all of the image but as I say you have to use IE to do it. That certainly involves the software "scrolling" the image.

@ Apowersoft. While I was able to scroll and capture a large image which was partially off-screen and had a vertical scroll bar I was unable to capture images which had a vertical AND a horizontal scroll bar. The software does not seem to cater for horizontal scrolling. Perhaps Apowersoft can confirm that this is so?

Another freebie option, Windows 7 and above has an in-built 'Snipping Tool' located in the Accessories folder.

Right click on it and 'Pin to Taskbar' and it will be always there for your immediate use.

Simple to use, it provides a small number of options that will suit the needs of most users.

I like Apowersoft Screen Capture Pro but it's a little bulkier and just not quite as easy to use as a previous GOTD SnagIt. I installed this on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and also XP Pro 64 bit both, without any trouble. I'm going to keep this and use it. Just an installation and a simple try out isn't fair to judge this program. I'm sure I'll find similarities and differences between this and SnagIt. Thank you, GOTD!

Why doesn't it register for Mac OS 10.9.5. The software seems to run, but the registration process tells me the code is invalid or for a different version. Any special reason for excluding anyone running a modern Mac OS? I think 10.6 is perhaps 4 years old?

I installed the Mac version (MacBook Pro 6,1, running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2). In attempting to register I get, "The license code is invalid, or does not match this version." Not sure why that would be, since I just copied and pasted. I also tried just typing in the registration key manually, but that didn't work either.

Developers, fellow GOTD-ers, any clues here?

Also, in the Readme.txt, the registration name is given as Giveawayoftheday, of course, but I am asked for an e-mail address instead. I tried both (my e-mail and Giveawayoftheday) in the e-mail requestor line, and neither of those worked.

I have several previous Apowersoft GOTD offerings (MacAudio Recorder, MacScreen Recorder) and they work all right. I don't use them a lot, but they work fine for basic needs, though others are pointing out better / other free and commercial alternatives for this one.

The system requirements for Mac OS stated above are not "Mac OS up to 10.6.0" but "Mac OS up 10.6.0" which I consider as "above 10.6.0". My MacBook has version 10.9. And I have exactly the same problem as Mark.
After entering into the field "Email Address" (without the quotes) and into the field "License Code" I receive the error message "The license code is invalid, or does not match this version." Even when entering my personal email address I get the same error message.

Why not use Microsoft's excellent free app SnippingTool?

Reply   |   Comment by Theodore Hammond  –  9 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+16)

snipping tool cannot capture long website.

Reply   |   Comment by hardgirl  –  9 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Because Snipping Tool is primitive by comparison?

Seriously, Snipping Tool is an incredibly basic tool with VERY basic annotation tools. It's OK if you're for example using someone else's PC: because you know it will almost always be available, but that's really its only plus point.

Any half-decent freeware screen capture tool has significantly more options than Snipping Tool Today's offering even has handy upload options and video "screen capture" (though from the comments, I suspect the latter only works well on recent, highish-spec PCs).

All that said, yes if you only have very very basic and very occasional screen capturing needs, Snipping Tool will do the very basics for you.

Reply   |   Comment by Cad Delworth CEng MBCS CITP  –  9 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Theodore, you may not be acquainted with these other tools' features, but your recommendation overlooks options like video recording (tutoring with the cursor movement shown; scrolling regions (beyond the simple displayed page), and on-screen editing. For my part, I wish ST would default to the current system timestamp; and provide a pulldown LOV for prior capture names.

Reply   |   Comment by Dutch  –  9 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Snipping Tool is an excellent screen capture tool; I use it almost every day. However, it only captures still shots and doesn't have any of the capabilities to capture video and sound, etc. as this program has. Nor the scrolling or scheduled screen capture options, etc. that this program has. This is not really a comparison, actually.

Installed on Windows 7 x64 with no problems.

On starting, I personally found using it a little confusing, the help screen not giving the kind of help I expected, the real help was found clicking on support, where a user guide could be found.
When searching around, I was taken to the web site to download what seemed like another video screen capture program, but decided not to do that.
I managed to capture a short youtube interview as a full screen using the defaults, which worked fine, (including sound).
It looks like a pretty good tool to me, but for my simple needs I will continue to use Microsoft Expressions Encoder 4 screen capture which is completely free, (and simple to use).
I will keep this installed and experiment a bit more, but the need to apparently download other programs shown in the "tools" section a little strange.
Thanks again GOTD and Apowersoft for the free software.

FAIL.

• It tries to take over your decision of what should be your default audio device.
• It elbows out other devices such as Realtek and positions Apowersoft audio device as the default, without asking your permission or notifying you.
• It has a good video capture component.
• But severely limited by only a few video codecs that it can use. Mainly Windows types.
• There is no way to add other new and better video codecs for the software to use.
• It has a very bad audio component(maybe because I chose not to use Apowersoft audio device). All video recordings are without any audio. No sound.
• When using microphone + system sound input, there are strange echos, reverb and continuous scratching sounds but still no sound from the video captured.
• When I checked Windows Control Panel, discovered that now I cannot even access Realtek HD audio driver to turn on the Stereo Mix input.
• Audio codecs are limited to only a few - mainly Windows types.
• You cannot add other new and better audio codecs.

It leaves many remnants of Apowersoft-AudioDevice in Registry, even after uninstall using Revo.

to my understanding, this is for capturing screen. If you need to record video, there are better alternatives. For me this is good because it's for capturing screenshot. The name of the software also states that!

I was a PAID snagit user for years (decades?) I found greenshot and stopped paying Snagit. Works on my xp, vista and W7 machines and does exactly what I want.
I have a 3 monitor system and greenshot captures all 3 screens or it I hit the ALT key on 1 screen, only that screen is captured. Never did figure out how to do that with Snagit.

@gerrymar: Greenshot CAN capture a full "scrolling" window BUT you have to use Internet Explorer and not a.n.other browser to do so. So if it's not a Web page, or you choose not to use IE, then no, Greenshot can't capture the full scrolling window; but if it is, then yes Greenshot can capture it in full.

Download and installed on Win7 64. no problems.
If you do not have a capture app, install this one during this giveaway. it is good enough as a free software. I would not recommend buying it because the price is way too expensive and (at least in my eyes) it is inferior to Faststone's http://www.faststone.org/FSCaptureDetail.htm which is also much cheaper.
Now why would I recommend it? (providing you get it for free today) This is a good question, there are many free alternatives, some with much more features, such as the excellent ScreenCaptor https://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/screenshotcaptor/ that is also easier to use. The answer is that although I find ScreenCaptor supirior in all aspects, there are two features (that if you have to have) today's giveaway would be a better choice.
1) scroll down window capture, which I find in ScreenCaptor to be a little stuttering.
2) Today's giveaway has a video screen capture feature as well as the image screen capture. if you do not have a video screen capture and you need one, Apowersoft will answer the need. again not the best out there, but good enough considering that you get it for free today.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system.

A company without name and address: "Our objective is to become the outstanding provider in the area of software solutions and online applications, adding color to your digital life and facilitating your works." Adding color to my digital life? This must be Chinese...

We had had several programs from this company in the past.

The registry shows, that there is another freeware:
Bytescout Screen Capturing - free screen recorder: record full screen or capture selected region, save screen video to AVI files with sound.

I don't see any credits for this software. I don't like this.

Upon start a blue UI opens with the options for screen recording. This is done without problems. After taking a screenshot a complete image editor opens:

A first attempt to upload to Screenshot.net led to a 404:

A second upload some times later finished without problems.
A rather complete screenshot program, does what it claims. Or should I say Bytescout does...
If you don't have any, you can take this. I'll keep my existing screenshot program.
Uninstalled via reboot.
Have anice Sunday!

annotation: the underlying Bytescout SDK is NOT free - It must be paid for.
so it is NOT the point that they directly used free stuff!

Hi,

Nice software, I just purchased Camtasia Studio few days back :)

Is there any discount on getting lifetime license and on how many computers I can use the lifetime license?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks
