1st don't take notice of the thumbs down brigade they give any software they personally don't have any use for so their thumb down is nothing to do with the quality of software but then thumbs up from people that have tried the program or know the quality off software from provider.
Aneesoft has been around for a long time now i have benighted from a number of their programs from Giveaway of the day and have purchased from them and received good after sales service

I don't understand why some of you guys are so hypercritical and make such carping judgments. It's just a simple DVD Creator and I'm sure it works well. But you were fussy about it and even said that it might hack your system. It's really ridiculous! It's not hard to find that most of the faultfinders are most likely competitors from WinX, Offery etc. It's meaningless to make those comments, just like spam!

I was able to install the software on my Windows 7 64-bit system without any problem, but that's about all I can say about it. The first thing I tried was the editing feature which was a total disaster. I had a video that I had played previously on VLC Media Player and decided I would use that to test out the editing feature. The first thing I noticed was that there was a problem with the audio. It was choppy throughout the one hour video whereas the audio was perfect when I played it on VLC. I went through the process of editing, indicating the sections of the video that I wanted to remove. It was easy enough to mark start and finish of the sections to be edited out. However, when I got to the end of the editing process, there was no indication how to tell the program I was ready for it to process the editing and produce the final output. I went through the "documentation" again and again and I could not find any information about initiating the next step. I have a commercial video editing program, so I know how such programs work but this one simply doesn't work. I never got around to trying the authoring feature since editing was what I was most interested in. So I am removing this poor excuse for a video editor from my PC. What a waste of my time!

No preview of the videos allowed, no resulting dvd size information provided. Tried to burn a DVD and it was converting very very slowly. I closed it Uninstalled it and downloaded WinX DVD Author instead. Thanks GAOTD for your software and comments.
The company has a great deal to improve to sell this product as it is.

Does anyone know of a program to use to create a CD or DVD with just menus, images and sound clips? Can this software do that? Those I've tried require the user to attach video clips first.

The program doesn't run properly on my Windows 7 machine. The process starts up, which I have to kill through Windows Task Manager, but there's nothing displayed.

I am having the same problem. installed fine, but nothing happens when i try to run it. got the hour glass for a second, and then nothing. first program to not work for me, and i have been using this site for years.

P.S. I need a program like this, what would you recommend?

Reply   |   Comment by zippy  –  9 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-10)

Personally, I would simply record the video in whatever method your recording software uses, and then convert the video into DVD-readable format using the Format Factory video converter (which is free, and available at http://www.FormatFactory.com). That should suffice unless you wish to create a menu. Most DVD/BluRay players can detect multiple independent videos on a DVD and create a simple menu "on the fly," so for simple DVD authoring, Format Factory should be all you need.

A warning to ALL readers and downloaders: If you're going to install freeware/shareware authored by unknown individuals/companies, then you're practically ASKING to be hacked, especially if the source of the software is China, Korea, or practically ANY middle-eastern company. The earliest viruses and trojan horses had their origins in the Middle East (Anyone remember the "Jerusalem-B" virus?) Just saying...

I used to create DVDs for my friends using authoring tools and number of years ago; quality versus file size in this format is very poor compared with modern compression techniques.
DVD authoring is also a rather slow process and so I have dispensed with it totally.

Much better than a DVD player is a small cheap tablet with HDMI output connected to a television set.
No conversion at all is needed and the tablet acts as a remote control.

If it's purely for watching the videos then this is a good route to go, authoring still having its uses if you wish to make attractive presentations for your videos.

Although a vob file is also an MPEG file ( VOB also use MPEG video codecs ) but there are major differences between the two.

Reference:
Difference BetweenVOB and MPEG

What is the difference between a VOB file and an MPEG file?

An easier way to convert from .VOB to .MPG is to simply change the extension [ie: filename.vob to filename.mpg] you'll find that this method works just fine because a VOB file IS ALREADY an MPG file.

Reply   |   Comment by Julian Clayton  –  9 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Wrong. A VOB (Video OBject) file is a container with video(s), audio(s) and additional information (e.g. subtitles) inside. Most software video players can handle VOB files, but it's better to have a clean MPEG file with video and audio only.

PVA Strumento transforms video containers to PS (program stream = .mpg)

Jahid, Thanks for the correction you brought in #6 and here is a useful brief extract:
Summary:

1. VOB is used in DVDs while MPEG is a portable format
2. MPEG supports a lot more codecs than VOB
3. VOB can cut the video into chapters while MPEG cannot
4. VOB supports menus while MPEG doesn’t
5. VOB can include subtitles while MPEG cannot
6. MPEG can be streamed but not VOB

I am happy with always FREE
WinX DVD Author [ an easy to use , hassle-free DVD Authoring tool including Video DVD Author, a VOB converter, a VOB to DVD compiler and a DVD disc burner. Yo can access these from main window and launch them individually. With in-built youtube video downloader you can download and burn YouTube Video to DVD. Have a look at
Softpedia Editorial Review]

And If you want to take your DVD creation tool settings with you wherever you go there is DVDStyler Portable.

It barely runs on Windows 8 out-of-the-box, i had to use XP SP2 compatibility or below, otherwise it would crash with "nvd3dum.dll_unloaded" error message. Vista/SP1/SP2 works too, XP SP3 and Windows 7 just crashed the program on startup, this way it will at least run. After closing the software in compatibility mode, it crashes again two times on ASTextEffect.dll before it finally closes. I have no use for it in this state, it runs buggy, crashes and i just removed it so the headache is gone.

Nothing happened when I tried to run the programme. I ran the install file a second time and now it seems to be working fine.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro system.

A Chinese company without name and address. It is a long time, that we had other software from this company.
A nice claim:
Aneesoft DVD Creator is the best DVD authoring software that enables you to archive and share all of your favorite video clips on DVDs.

Whether this is the best DVD authoring software... I will not decide, not now before the test. One thing is for sure, it is a historic software. Treat it with respect and care!

The software is from 2010, all codecs are from the same year 2010. Nothing touched for the last four years.

A small not resizable window opens. There are no options to change. Take it as it is. You have 16 menu templates for 16:9 and 14 menu templates for 4:3 ration.
The templates are at best: not impressive. You can change the background color, add some text, have preview and can burn your disk.

This is done in a simple way - seems to work. I did not burn a disk.

A very simple DVD creator, maybe good for those who want to have a quick and dirty solution to combine some files with a menu structure and burn it. Or for a collector of historic solutions. The best DVD authoring software? No!

Uninstalled via reboot.
