the software downloaded and installed on 05-08-09 by me did not work on 06-08-09 so what is the utility of giving away this type of software? Even my PC hanged when trying to uninstall it. I love my PC so I am not going to download anything from this place & test the software in future.

Ok .. so this is my second comment on this page .. and i ONLY comment when things go wrong. This time things went horribly wrong. When I tried to do anything with this application ... it errored out huge .. to the point of reboot the machine. Tried reinstalling .. no help, same thing. I could always report the errors .. but the machine there to accept my error report? Actively refusing my reports .. is it full .. or is it broken too? I thank you for the free applications .. but when i uninstall reboot and find an MBR error .. i am not thinking it's free anymore. If you don't have a semi functional product .. do not allow it here .. especially if it causes fatal errors.

Thank You GAOTD & Pointstone Software for this nice well rounded software. I have and use the others too and I will use this one along with them.
I missed the first time around and I am glad for the second chance. I installed it with Windows XP SP3 with no problems. Very happy with this one.

Nah. Not as good as System Mechanic Pro, which rocks and is at the top.

I read the comments and found some helpful and some useless and decided to give it a try. I was surprised at how clean the GUI was for freebie software as well as the wealth of features in such a small amount of memory. The wash is completely customizable based on what you have installed and is very comprehensive. It works on IE firefox opera netscape mozilla aol and covers aim, msn messenger, icq, and yahoo im. It monitors your programs and plug ins like spybot and adaware's quarantine as well as adobe and office's history files. It works VERY FAST too! You can build profiles for different actions, for example clearing only browser history but not chat. The shredder works great as well as wiping free space. The slowest process would be wiping free space if you have a lot of it.And that doesn't even touch the extras. It monitors all your starting processes including ones that dont want to be found!! It allowed me to disable my garmin agent that kept auto starting and had no actual program for me to shut off. It has a password generator and helps you keep track of your IE extentions. It does a lot more a hell of a lot faster, more efficient, and organized than I expected. I'm very pleased.

I have been using the previous version & I'm basically satisfied with it.
So I updated with this offer.
I still have a couple of complaints about the program however.
1. Both versions are supposed to be for Vista but neither version works with Vista's Windows Mail. It has a category for Outlook Express but this doesn't work for Windows Mail. So it's not completely designed for Vista.
2. This version is not the latest version which would be 5.72c (May 19 2009) According to the program history.
The offered version is 5.60 so why not the latest version ?

#15.--Your a frikkin tool, THE END

#45.-- Did both computers have Windows? Maybe it crashed your system. Maybe it was office, or firefox, or internet explorer. I know!! Both computers crashed because YOU used them.

I have used this in the past It is a good program, but I found other alternatives fit my tastes better, however this program performed up to expectations.

erm lol small clarification..when I say x10 I mean main appdata folder spun into appdata > appdata (x10). And as far as shocked, I meant that it was soooo fast. I actually sat and watched it for the whole 610 freespace (lol that's a while) cuz it was rather hypnotizing lol. If your security concious, scan it before you install...It didn't trigger my Avast or Outpost (and my Outpost will block things if they are dangerous even if it's given permission). If you use things you trust, then make a decision for yourself..there's enough of a mixed audience here to really need to have a shot at it for yourselves, I think. And make sure you vote guys! ^_^ (lol I tend to need to remind myself too lol)

Okay, I'd really like to see more comments that are balanced with the actual software trial, not your idea of what you think of the offering itself (as in, oh i have something better, so thumbs down).

I use CCleaner, Revo, Avast, Outpost, SuperAntiSpyware, AntiMalwarebytes etc..I don't think I need to go on, those who are referring to others are prolly recognizing more then just 1 of those. I decided to give this a go after actually 'reading' some of the comments (and I'm not just careful about my computer cleaning, but about letting software having that amount of control). I absolutely am extremely impressed. I'm able enough to do a lot of computer stuff, but I am not a tech, and you're able to use this software extremely safely (you just gotta read what you're checking). I did a wipe freespace etc...I was extremely shocked at the speed it took to not only do it (I have 610 GB free), but how nicely my computer has been acting. After some issues with SP2 (which still aren't solved...I gave up as all of their suggestions only gave problems), I ended up with x10 of pretty much everything...including the massive world of warcraft lol..I'm probably going to have to reformat, but I"ve been putting it off ^^. Anyways, either way, I am extremely grateful, and the only thing I wish is that there was a key so that I could make sure I had it again when i do have to ^_^

Thank you, both GOTD (I love you guys btw, you're checked everyday, my rss's about once every 2 months lol). But a huuuuge thank you to Pointstone. And hey guys? lol drop the tennis match :p I'm sure Pointstone would rather have your thoughts about the program etc, verses about some guy's opinion (and come on, be respectful of others, eh 15?...). Anyways, laters guys! ♥

really nothing special about this program. It works and if you haven't been using something similar or a combination of software to get these jobs done, then you should use it. My only suggestion, after installing and uninstalling, is to make the interface less "self important" and more intuitive (simply put). rating + 6/10

This way too complicated.

Far too many settings to check.

If you are so paranoid that you check everything you can find, then you need medical help!

CCleaner will do very nicely for 'normal' perverts like me!

Downloaded, installed and registered on Windows XP Pro SP3 without any problem.

The program was easy to understand and clearly laid out. It was easy to select exactly what I wanted to clean up for a 'wash' which I ran without any problem.

One thing I found annoying though, is that once an option (eg. 'wipe free space') was selected, I was unable to minimize the window without terminating the current process. Perhaps this could be fixed in the next release.

Overall, I was impressed with the speed with which the program ran and with the comprehensiveness of the settings that could be selected for a customized cleanup. The program did exactly what it was designed to do without any problems and in concert with other cleanup programs such as previously mentioned ones as CCleaner, it does a good job. I would give it a 8/10 and a thumbs up.

If anyone is interested in checking out some free cleanup utilities they can go here:

http://www.techsupportalert.com/pc/cleanup-tools.html

to check them out as well as many other freebie programs. I also recommend that when you visit this site you select 'home' and then sign up for the free newsletters on this site as they have some very useful info regarding freebie programs (that is how I was directed to GAOTD in the first place!), and other tech related info.

This is a nice piece of software. I've been using it for over a year now (previous giveaway) and it erases things that ccleaner and east-tec don't! It's a good addition to the previously mentioned.......you can't have too many cleaners (my opinion)! Worth a try if you haven't tried it yet. Thanks GOTD

Several things I found with this program.

First, the wipe free space feature is available in the "Wash Setup" box but it is not available in the "Wipe Free Space" box and even when the drive is checked the program displays a message "No Drives Selected", and the tool is not clickable. If someone else has gotten it to work please add your tips.

Second, there is no way to add additional drives to clean. I have several jazz drives clogged with old programs and text files that I would like to plug in to the USB and have them available to wipe too.

Third, someone who speaks and writes English well should go over this program and edit it for spelling errors.

OK, now that I had a little time to use the program I have to say I like it, it's a nice easy to use program. it did a thorough job and does just what its supposed to. I would suggest to the developers to drop the price a little. There are enough free alternatives that I have trouble seeing people pay what you are charging for this, but then again if you have a following for your software then it's no problem.
#37 I have XP sp3 and had no problem wiping the free space.
thanks for this program, it's a nice little addition to my security tools.

Just for your information, today’s offer should be used with a bit of care and only after going through the ”Wash setup” and ”Settings” options. Be careful and read the bottom lines, as you point at each option, before you select an action.
Certainly, this combination of more or less well-known tools can clean up your HDD and save space, but the feature called ”Wipe free space” will really not add to free space, rather on the contrary.
The function is similar to the freeware program called Eraser. What it does is to overwrite all information with random letters and cifers in the disc areas that don’t hold active files or programs - only deleted files or parts of such. By default today’s program overwrites once, which is not thorough. The procedure takes about 2 hours, depending of the HDD size and the amount of ”free space”. Other choices are 3 or 7 procedures of overwriting data, which can take more than 8 hours (a typical night job).
Eraser can do a complete overwrite of all data on a HDD, making it impossible to trace any information. This should be done prior to selling og giving away a computer.

I've run this app everyday since it's first give-away . . . not a single problem and it's faster than CCleaner, which I always run after TP5.
I don't have a whole lot of HD space left, and have pretty much stopped dl'ing new apps, etc but definitely WOULD grab this again, were it an updated version.
Goof stuff.

WARNING: I downloaded Total Privacy when this was offered some time ago. I added it to 2 computers; a desktop and laptop. I only washed both computers using minimal scrubs, on one computer once a week and the other daily. And after a few months.....

Coincidentally BOTH crashed with one having to receive a new hard drive and the other totally wiped clean. Since I have other computers that did not receive the download, I cannot help but to wonder if Total Privacy had something to do with their demise. Especially since both breakdowns happened within one week of each other. Not positive, but I'm just saying....

to newleaf - I totally understand your feelings, although there are other uses for this than perverts. I would like to thank you for your feelings and fear on how this program may be used by some - but - REALLY - could we please keep this for the programs themselves and not on personal feelings that seem to include any and all that use this.
And on that note - I found the program downloaded and ran well on my vista laptop. Thanks GAOTD for providing us with the chance to use new programs - keep up the good work!

"YA KNOW...."

I have been coming here for a while now and have downloaded some really good software at GOAD. Prime example is Advanced System Care Pro.

As with any other forum where you get "people" togther to voice their opions, there a basically four types:

1. Everyday people who leave straightforward comments good or bad.
2. People who have legitimate answers about install, interface, etc. problems
3. Then Whiners’ who always find something bad to say even if there is nothing to say.
4. The "Mines better than yours..." people.

As to the people in group 3, I say “Don’t stir sh#&, when their ain’t no sh#&”
And my favorite, group 4, If you actually know of better software for free don’t hesitate to mention, but if all you can do is make out that your stuff is better than this then don’t bother talking.

Me, myself, (and I) Kinda fall in between 1 and 2. I have 40 some odd years of technical background in computers and software, so I sit back and watch and listen. Posting only when I really feel it is necessary. I didn’t post about “happy folders” but read a comment about it being really screwy with XP and took heed and didn’t download.
Today GOAD looks good, and I have lots of other products in the same category that work well, but will download to see if it has any merit.

Also, I am not a pervert because I like to keep my privacy. ID theft is a real problem, so those who make such comments, go ahead and leave all that you have hang out in the background of your hard drive. Some day you might be surprised when your SS, or credit card info gets used.

Not that this post will make a whole bunch of difference with anyone.

In the long run, I still believe in God, Country and Flag, but most of all “FREEDOM OF SPEECH”

P.S. A unique feature of GOAD at the top is multiple language sites, way to go! GOAD. I often go to them to see the comments from other people. IE8 with it’s built in translator makes it really easy.

The following comment came from Italy and Kinda follows what I have been rambling on about.

"Given the constant insults, threats and insults towards users and people who attend this site on the part of this character (Fiorella), I decided not to post more no further… I will simply download the software on the agenda if it is real helpful… of course leaving comments." (taken out of context)

BUT MOST OF ALL TO THE MORONS! THE SOFTWARE OFFERED IS FREE

AND YOU DON’T HAVE TO COME HERE.

Whew! What a vent.

Take care

Now, now, I think folks are being a bit hard on #15. After all, without people like him/her/it, we wouldn't have McDonalds employees. Or Republicans. And without the former, we'd all starve. And without the latter, well, who would we make fun of??

As far as this offering goes, true it does have profiles but I can't really see the benefit of that vs. CCleaner. You can also use a more DIY approach with Eraser (also free).

This is a crowded category and it's tough for a commercial program to compete, which I guess is why they're here. THat's not a knock on the current offering, it's just a statement that existing free alternatives work pretty good.

The best form of privacy is not to share computer with anyone and not to do private stuff on your office computer and vice versa.

Google Desktop indexes everything you ask it to index and it helps in searching for lost files, including emails.

There is a price for privacy. You spend time trying to hide stuff away from prying eyes but when you need to access the files later on, you realize that you have deleted them away with a privacy tool. That is the catch.

The yes/no thing, is an indecation of how usefull the COMMENT was, not the software.

The software in this case is good but I have better (TuneUp 09), so I dont think I'll keep this too long.

The comments sometimes point out things I might have missed. That is why they are there. That is the reason for the yes/no.

In July 2008, version 5.60 was released on Giveway. It has many bugs. This is still version 5.60 although their website has version 5.72c.

Tried version 5.72c and it still has bugs such as selecting Firefox 'cookies to keep' result in error message in Vista. I will give this a miss.

Some may say a Privacy software is only to hide your illigal or pervert actions on ht epc .. never the less IT IS NOT!
A privacy program is used to remove history data from your pc... there can be many reasons to remove data, one is simply for the health of your pc.

people who have limittid knowledge on the computers interface, can use these programs to remove unnessesary history data on the computer which can be many 1.000. of history files... removing these 1000´s of files can help speed up searches, antivirus scan, and utility programs... not always by a lot of time and sometimes only 20-30 sekunds. but all computers will run better the less unessesary data there is. so a effective privacy program as the one in GAOTD today can help you clean files that other utility programs might not find.

all in all if you dont know why you would need a privacy program since you are no pervert or do not do any illigal stuff? then do it for the health of your pc. or simply if you are a person who dont like to find folders full of files which you have no idea what is.

I installed todays software on my Xp and my vista 32. run great on both.. easy to use, and romeved some history files which other privacy programs would not. so all in all two thumbs up for this software... as always thank you so much for your great work GAOTD team. and also thank you to the Pointstone Software for giving us a userfriendly software.

best regards, Jacob Frederiksen.

#4 First of all CCleaner stinks when compared to this program
#5 Kapersky and Spybot are two totally different types of programs. Total Privacy 5 cleans out Temp files, Temporary Internet files and History files, and does it with great speed.
#15 I think you may need professional help

I’ve been using this program since its last give away and have found it to be one of the best. All of you CCleaner and other so called great cleaning program users try installing this. Run your programs first then run this one and see how many more things it finds. One great program that everyone needs for keeping their system clean. Thanks for the offer again GOTD.

I find it amusing that "Newleaf" in comment #15 can only imagine this program being used to erase illegal data. I've found that the people who yell the loudest are often concealing guilt about the very thing they are yelling about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Haggard

#15 wrote in part: "I think that this kind of software is mostly used by perverts. If you are a pervert and you do sick illegal things, you will get caught." This is the MOST ridiculous post I've ever read on this site. The way I like to keep my floors clean, I try to do the same with my computer.

As for the thumbs up and thumbs down, the counts mean absoluely nothing to me because it seems to me many merely click one or the other just for the heck of it. And the counts are about the POST, and not about the software being offered.

As for computer cleaners, I happily obtained from GiveawayoftheDay Glary Utilities, Win Utilities, CCleaner (someone here told me about it; use it daily), and a few others. Wish there was a program that cleaned up everything and checked for viruses, etc. all in one. Now if I could only keep my floors as clean as my computer!

Yes I was surprised to get same version since july 08 too. So no need to get if got last yr. This program does indexdat files better than ccleaner and you select the files to wash and look at them before wash. So download and try has alot of options built in.

Well, I will not dl as I have so many other goods programmes including "ncleaner" already. In fact since I have a small HDD, I use ncleaner to wipe free space, and this usually frees up just under 2GB a month. Nothing to do with sicko content, just makes the computer run better.
I use WinXP sp3 and FFox 3.0.13, or Google Chrome.
CCleaner has a wipe function as well but I have never used it.
Thanks for the software, much of which I have alternatives for, but I do use "IObitSecurity360" and "Avast! Home Edition"(auto updates).

Was surprised to see this as I downloaded and installed this previously and think it is a nice program especially with its wipe system. So I thought I would download this since the web site shows a newer version! Imagine my surprise to see all I got was the same thing...verison 5.6 (2008). Oh well; thanks anyway! By the way; I do use C-Cleaner; Glary's Pro and this; Because what one doesn't get, the other does, plus this Total Privacy has more features! Thanks again! Xp-sp3

Downloaded/installed/activated fine on Vista x64 system. Beautiful, simple, clean, User Interface (GUI).
222,412 browser/windows files (1510 MB in size) were shredded in 4 minutes, using a Single Pass Wash Process.

Verdict: Program Operation is smooth, efficient, and effective. It did shredding job well, per user-defined settings.
Two thumbs up for today's GiveAway. Thanks much, GOTD and Pointstone, for this great piece of software.
