Dear users,
Once you complete the two actions, you will get a unique download link that will be sent to your email address. The product comes pre-registered, so you don't have to enter license keys to activate it. There is no limit on the number of downloads, so this is not a competition. Everyone who completes these two actions will get the license.

Sorry if the description looked confusing

Giveaway of the Day, When installing software, it has the option to choose the free version or the full version. Which one are we supposed to select?
I pick the full (or Max) version, now it's asking me to upgrade or enter registration key.

GOTD Team: After several tries I realized the glitch. After installing, a box appears asking you to choose which version to upgrade. That is the error we are making. Choosing to upgrade re-installs the trial version, good for 30 days. Ignoring this box & closing it keeps the registered version in place. Instructions about this glitch would have saved most people here a lot of grief. As for me, I now have the program and like it very much.

Dear Bob Patenaude,

Thanks a lot for your report. The title reads "The competition is over" due to the fact that we use the same widget for "competitions" (giveaways with a limited number of licenses) and for so-called "rewards" (giveaways with unlimited number of licenses which require the visitors to perform additional actions in order to get the license). We've reported the issue to our tech team, hope they'll change it soon.

As for the comments. Please mind that according to our moderation policy, comments that have nothing to do with the product given away may be removed. If you want to share your thoughts regarding the license distribution method or have issues during the installation, feel free to use our forums:

Dear iNMATRiX & GiveawayOfTheDay Mods, is the giveaway limited to a certain number, because the second part of the two step procedure is clearly showing a black X when the second or lower Red button is pressed?

----------

A couple of hours ago I carried out - or at least I thought I did carry out BOTH Steps required, however I have not received eMAiL or Download Link.

I rebooted my PC and tried again and I must confer with comment by m that STEP 2 - DOES NOT CURRENTLY WORK.

In the Box titled Zoom Player MAX , and then blow that it reads:

Perform the actions below to get the key and on the right side it says Entering as 'the User's Facebook name', then a Green email symbol showing the user's email address and then the facebook symbol and under it it says logout

You then click the on the first (of two) maroon/red coloured button(s) which then open a small link that the User clicks on and once subscribed to the newsletter the colour of the button changes and a TiCK or Checkmark is displayed on a greyed out button background.

When the User (me) then clicks on the second maroon/red button facebook link 'Share the Giveawayoftheday page' the PLUS symbol '+' on the red button changes to a black X , which to my mind would indicate that the second step is NOT WORKiNG as a number of other people have also indicated.

I would like to download Zoom Player MAX 13.5 but it would appear that something on the page is not allowing ME and others to complete the process successfully.

I hope you can read this and do something about it

A few days ago I received an email (which for some reason landed in my SPAM box) offering a 50% Discount because version 14 is soon to be released.

BY THE TiME I eventually found the email the Coupon was no longer valid.

Quote: "... Get the best value, buy Zoom Player 13.7.1 using the "V14SOON" 50% discount code and receive Zoom Player 14 for FREE as soon as it's released. ..."

Q: Will you be offering this or any discounts again, or, have I missed my chance to buy a discounted Max Version?

As DVD player software, Zoom Player is good. The free version suffices for this. I was hoping to get some joy with the media library, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to support network drives or even mapped network drives, and all my media is on networked drives. That would be a good addition.

Another suggestion would be better support for .iso files. Yes it'll play a DVD from an .iso file but it extracts it before playing it. This can take a long time and also risks Windows reporting the application as not responding. Kodi plays from an .iso file without extracting it, which is absolutely instant. All my media is stored as .iso files, so I have to use an external drive mounting utility to play them with Zoom Player. That, I think, would also write off using Zoom's media library.

I have been waiting for GOTD to post Zoom Player since I purchased my Surface Pro 4 back in Dec 2016. I had this software on my sony vaio and loved it. It allowed me to play all the DVDs i had ripped (with software downloaded form GOTD). So far, this is the best player i have found for my DVD files that i keep on an external hard drive.
I am extremely pleased with today's giveaway.
The negative reviews are mainly against having to use fakebook and providing your email address. My best advice is to have accounts strictly for such purposes. Cheers!

I noticed one cool feature that may be lacking in other media players. In the audio equalizer section you can "Add" a custom EQ setting to the list of equalizer pre-sets. If it truly can save more than one custom EQ setting (which, presumably, you can name them anything you want), then you could create one or more EQ settings for different music, TV, movies, etc. At home, we use Windows (8.1) Media Center to record TV shows from a digital tuner, i.e it's our DVR. Playback, however, is another story. Media Center doesn't have an equalizer. Windows Media Player and VLC both have equalizers which are especially useful for boosting the clarity of dialog. These players can remember the current EQ setting, but won't store your custom setting then allow you to create and save another custom setting. It appears that Zoom will allow this. Could be useful if it's true!

IMHO there's nothing really wrong with the Zoom Player if you like it, but at $30-$40 on sale, Vastly prefer PowerDVD Ult. It handles recordings from Win7's Media Center, with subs once I use ccextractor on the video file(s); is licensed for Blu-ray, so I get all of the features on the disc; handles any other video formats I've thrown at it; and its processing/upscaling looks great on a 4k TV [better than streaming 4k FWIW].

That said the main reason for posting is to suggest that those turned off by the F/Book requirements of today's GOTD, check out the other available players at: videohelp[.]com/software/sections/video-players

You might also check out LAVFilters & madVR while there. Using those it's possible to enhance the picture &/or improve playback. The Codec Tweak Tool & Win7DSFilterTweaker might also help sometimes -- using them with my lower powered [Celeron] mini-PC, that I use as a HTPC, I was able to improve video playback with players other than PowerDVD.

For those able to get the download there is no licence key. When installing a screen will pop up with something like upgrade to zoom max ticked in one box and Zoom free ticked in another box plus a couple of other boxes ticked. to proceed untick both the boxes that mention Zoom and keep ticked any other box you want, I kept the Mad V whatever box because it looks harmless. Install that or whatever but not anything ticked Zoom and then just close the program do not go any further even if this means getting out of it by clicking on the X to close it. Zoom Player Max the giveaway version should be now on the desktop page.

HOW TO DISABLE AUTOMATIC UPDATES: Open Zoomplayer and look at the bottom bar. On the right-hand side, you see 3 icons, one of them being arrows pointing up and down. Click the up arrow to show the top bar. In the top bar click the cogwheel to open options.
In options click the "switch to advanced mode" and then click the "system" entry. the "automatically check" option should be listed first. uncheck and hit apply followed by ok. It will not check for updates anymore

I had a previous version that I lost in a major crash. It made me happy when it came here today but now I am very disappointed because You discriminate against people who do not use social media. Shame on You. I don´t want to have anything to do with discriminating developers even if their software is as good as Yours.
I would also like to know what you mean by this:
The program is available for $ 29.95, but the winners of our contest will get it for free.

Aside from the fact that this $30 retail software does nothing that's fundamentally superior to that achieved by the always free, continuously updated, and multi-talented VLC Player from non-profit organization VideoLAN, today's giveaway leaves me. . . baffled.

Because it isn't.

According to today's page, it's "a contest", the winners of which will get this product "for free" (though unlike VLC Player, without any future updates.) Contest entrants will, however, only qualify for consideration if they sign up to receiving newsletter from a developer they may never have heard of / aren't remotely interested in . . . or if they share this page with others on Facebook.

I don't do Facebook or Twitter or Linked In or Instagram or Google Plus nor ever will. Why? Because I'm not a commodity. And because I know that the individual most prized by Facebook, Twitter, Linked In etc is the individual they haven't yet identified and so haven't yet monetized.

Fingers crossed then that today's episode is specific to this developer's product, albeit the answer to post #1 by the developer itself:

" I am not going to comment on the share/login/etc that giveawayoftheday uses as we have no control over that"

is anything but reassuring.

If eleven years after it revolutionised the global software sector and created an entirely new marketplace, GOTD Giveawayoftheday -- "every day we offer FREE licensed software you'd have to buy otherwise" -- is about to turn into COTD Contestoftheday -- "every day we urge you to either use social media that you don't want or sign up to developer emails which you don't need" -- then I'd suggest a re-think is immediately due.

Thanks as ever then, GOTD, but as for COTD: absolutely no thanks.

I don't do Facebook or any other so-called social media. I used a previous version, long removed, but will pass on this. Seems a pretty ill thought our and stupid way to market a product and judging by the comments so far I do not think I'm alone in thinking this.
Totally agree with some below that VLC and Potplayer does everything you need.

"The program is available for $29.95, but the winners of our contest will get it for free"

- Erm, sorry if I'm missing something, but which contest does this refer to? Also, I completed the "Tasks" - to "Instantly get a key" - I've received an email from GAOTD with a link to d/l the program, but there seems to be none of the usual "About" type info to actually know whether this is licensed or not.

To me a "key" means a license code of some description? -- Is there an "Options" menu that I've just not seen in the Prog interface?

Thanks

Don't like the process before downloading, as it seems unnecessary. Don't mind sharing on Facebook, but going to a test page etc. is very strange.

I agree with others that the price seems steep for this kind of software. Especially as it relies on some free addons via the install center.
Normally I use VLC or Media Player Classic..............for audio, I tend to use AIMP (as I prefer the skins) or BSPlayer.

Onto the software itself, and I'd agree that the installation center would be confusing for many users. On one hand it's good that you can choose what gets installed, but the average user would probably prefer a simpler installation.

Software itself looks good though, and for anyone familiar with other players the software should be easy enough to use. Not sure if I'll keep it though, as it doesn't seem to offer much more than the free options available.

Hi,

Those players do not have as much customization as Zoom Player, and fail to play some types of formats.
The options and customization of Zoom Player is well above those players, and so is quality.

extremely confusing installation and registration process. the install center pops up.. what do I need to install? Also, it automatically selects upgrade, while stating this MUST NOT be done.
The code is not revealed, even though I have "V" on all 3 requirements. And even if I had it, I dare anyone to find out where I'd enter it in the software.

strangest giveaway yet.

AR,

the install center installs opensource codecs for correct playback. Only the "upgrade" is the odd one, as usually users want to upgrade, but to keep the giveaway, uncheck it. That;s what the warning is for.
