Is this software still available at all? It looks great and I want to get started with digital works. I am already a big fan of the paper scrapbooking and card making. I will try to download the trial version for now.

Thanks :)

I downloaded this with 8 hours left to activate. I tired for several hours (before going to bed) without any luck to connect with the service to active the software. Now it is beyond the time... What can I do? BUY it? without trying....

When received the GOTD message, yesterday, I clicked it and received a 404 message (post not found). I hunted around the site for this software and it appeared that a Jun 29th offering was bogus.

Too bad, as I was interested in this software.

Now, after clicking the GOTD for 6/30 ... I see there IS a 6/29 offering.

Funny ... where was it yesterday?

I'd HIGHLY recommend not broadcasting an email until the day's give-a-way is actually POSTED. Makes the site look a tad unprofessional.

Any chance of extending the offer on 6/29's give-a-way, seeing how it was messed up?

When I visited the site yesterday (several times), I couldn't see this software or the download, so I couldn't download it. I usually download a lot of your programs and I'd really like to have this one as well. GAOTD, can you please help me out since the softwrae wasn't on the site when I visited it yesterday?

#54 (last moderated comment at the time I'm posting), it works like you would expect. Use the File dropdown, select Save As, Save as type, Template File. I still can't get people to read the Help file. It's also documented there under How to use, Other Buttons. To move a picture within a frame/mask, click on it, a toolbar will display, click on the "hand" symbol, drag the picture (slowly), click on the "hand" again. It's also documented in the Help file, under How to use, Create New Scrapbook, Step 2: Page Decorate, Add mask.

To #31: when you play the music, it will loop only at the first slide. You have to time the music and slides perfectly, because if the music is longer than the slides, it will stop where ever it is in the music and when it gets to the first slide the music starts all over. If the slides are longer than the music, the slides play without music and the music doesn't start again until the first slide.
To wondershare: it would be great if you could add more than one song like a playlist and the pictures and songs would just loop continuously and independently.

Downloaded and installs ok. For anyone missing the resigtration key...when I open the file after downloading (usually a .zip file) there are usually 3 files in it, Setup.Exe (the main program, Activate.exe (The actication provided by GAOTD) and the readme.txt file. I run Activate.exe first, this then opens Setup.exe and connects to GAOTD site to see if the timer is still active then usually activates the program. Then I run Setup.exe, when I go through the install process I'll move the Intsallation box out of the way and sometimes there is another small box there with the Activation key written in it. I copy and paste that into wherever (if) the program asks for the Activation/Registration key or if I see that it's in the "evaluation copy" stage. I have yet to get an evaluation copy of anything from here, they all registered/activated. Some were keepers, some weren't.

I liked this program at first because It's from Wondershare and I liked the DemoCreator program from them. This one is kind of lacking in features though and a little "buggy", I tried to create a new project add a picture then got a .dll error that wouldn't quit, luckily I have the Wirekeys program given away here and made it end with that. I retried and it worked the second time (it didn't like the way I tried to add a pic the first time), it's good for creating a screen saver and/or Stand-alone.Exe file but for those thinking it will work on their websites, it won't, since it doesn't output .Swf Flash or animated gif files or files of that type, Not a lot of templates to choose from, although you can get the additional fonts for free. Distrubing to me was every picture about party had the beer images in them even though the templates look like they were designed for a kids party. If nothing else you can use it to add border shawdow effects to pictures and outpput them in different formats and instantly turn any picture into a wallpaper.
Too many programs out there that do more for less.
Glad I have it for free but doubt I will use it much.

#15 I'm usually online when these programs are first offered and sometimes I will download it right then if it's something I think I might use/need, or I'll wait and read the comments by others to see if they had any problems, etc. with it. Often times there will be a few comments that have already had MANY negatives hits on the comments (even when I thought the comment WAS useful and ABOUT the software), so many so that it would be nearly impossible or rather unlikely IMO for that many people to be voting negative, and that there's a negative mark on EVERY comment, it would have to be some people that are doing it on purpose and probably also vote thumbs down on the software without ever having downloaded and evaluated it.

I liked this one but doubt I will keep it/use it.
These look more interesting/more templates, etc. and free ALL the time:

Thanks to Wondershare Software for the program anyway and everyone that posted the other links and the GAOTD team for continuing this service.

Many bugs in the user interface. Undo is unpredictable past the first undo (though it says 20 items can be undone). Also, several bugs in the page setup interface for printing.

Slideshow is self contained and works well, anyone can view the slideshow without downloading anything else. The screensaver works well, too.

Help was nice, it gets tot he point of every feature in a very straightforward way.

Ok, but very basic. Creative Memories has a free "Storybook" download with hundreds of professional looking templates for every occasion. I am not sure if you can print off your own designs but the digital scrapbooks you purchase are as nice as my digital wedding album and a fraction of the cost.

I like the program..very simple to use and creates a cool screensaver I can use to send to family and friends. Played on my computer perfectly. However, the website says you can add soundtracks and I can't figure out how you do that in this program. I saw no option for that. Also, there are very limited templates so that was a bummer. It needs the option for music (or if someone else figured out please tell me) and more advanced features. Also, if you have a large photo, you can't resize the photo to fit in a frame properly in the program. That ability would be nice.

Reply   |   Comment by shythunder  –  14 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Could NOT print a full landscape of a "scrapbook" page. Trying to center the page properly was misleading and difficult. Made several attempts at printing with an Epson R340 and an HP 8250 without success. Thought about giving this thing a few more tries but think I will just stick with my Epson Story Teller software. It simply works. I've Uninstalled Wondershare Scrapbook Studio and am happier for it. Good luck to the rest of you ... for me, even "free" isn't worth the hassle.

Still playing with it off and on.

* It looks like I can use any JPG file on my computer as a photo or clipart.
* Each page is attached to an e-mail as a separate JPG, if you choose E-mail at Publish. Thanks, #40.
* Still haven't figured out how to save a file as a template, though the website indicated I can. I can Publish a layout to a printed page that saves the whole thing as a JPG, open a new scrapbook file and paste it in as background clipart, but then I cannot edit or move anything on the original graphic.
* I could not resize or move a photo under a frame once I put a frame on it. Scrapbook decided where to crop the picture on its own and it was not what I wanted.

I notice that Scrapbook has been added to the Forum on the Wondershare website. See you there.

Do any of the other scrapbook programs mentioned above export to the various formats that Scrapbook does? That is it's best feature, IMHO. Would like to see another program with fewer of the above-mentioned frustrations and all of the export options. Anyone?

I design my own digital scraps and even teach other people HOW TO and keep a blog to highlight techniques I use. I wasn't sure I would care for this, thinking it would be too tame and bland. I decided to try to make a scrap using the party elements and a template from the program and adding digital photos of my granddaughter's 3rd birthday parties at home and Chuck E. Cheese's. After I was finished, I printed it out on my new Canon printer that I bought yesterday. It's Wonderful!

I am in love! This is probably THE best program I have downloaded from GOTD. This is a perfect scrapbooking software package for someone who is just getting into the digital scrap game or for people who want to highlight their family photos they have taken.

The quality of the final results were very gratifying. Thank you, GOTD!

What is the Coke-Key asked for when the program begins? I've successfully Activated, but I am uncertain what to put for the Code-Key on the Register screen. I've read and re-read the instructions in the ReadMe.txt.
Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks so much #31 and #40. I evidently should utilise sleep before posting comments!!!!

I have used the "PrtSc" facility to turn the pages of the scrapbook into JPGs to use on a website, this may also be useful for others who do not want to publish whole scrapbooks etc - take a screenshot of a scrapbook page you have created by pressing "Shift" and "PrtSc", open Paint and Press "Ctrl" and the letter "V" together, crop the picture so that only the actual page remains and not the Wondershare buttons such as "Publish", "Preview" etc, save the picture as a JPG file to your computer, and if necessary host it on a site such as http://www.photobucket.com to upload to where you want it or email from your current directory the page as an image file.

The other formats you can save the file as though are ideal for sharing with those who do not have the Wondershare program, thanks again to #31 and #40.

Merril :-)

I thought this was useful (although with limited scrapbook pages to choose from) until I looked at a preview of the page I had created and found that right in the middle of the scrapbook page, in big letters, it said 'Evaluation Copy' on it! Sorry, but that doesn't work for me.

I like seeing even niche software on GOTD even if I can't use is some else can. Plus it brings a wider variety of people which makes GOTD more interesting for software developers trying to reach a broad range of people, which means more and better software for all of us.

@ Merril, #24:
The internal project format is meant for you, the user of this program. It's a great way to store your project without using too much disk space (for continuing your work at later point in time, or as a back-up).

The publish function is meant for sharing your finished project with others. You can choose between exporting as separate images, as an standalone *.exe file (slideshow), as a wallpaper, as a screensaver file or separate images attached directly to an E-mail. That's enough other different and useful formats, IMO. And there's absolutely no need for others to install this software because of it.

@ #31, VampireRat: Seperate images (for each tab within the program, an image is created) are attached as *.JPG files.

#15, the negative marks are in answer to "did you find this comment useful?"
I for one answer them honestly, which means posts such as "this is great, thanks GAOTD" and "I won't be downloading because I have no use for it" have no use to me and a majority of the other people reading the comments.
I only give a thumbs up on comments posted by those that have actually downloaded and attempted to use the software and have posted their feedback on the actual software, that's why I read the comments before making the decision to download or not..

Based on the plus and negatives of these comments I am not alone in my desire to only read those opinions of those that have actually downloaded & gave the software a try
So call it immaturity or whatever but I gave your post a thumbs down as well

THe Program worked smoothly, and fun to work with my photos of the grand kids, IT could have more templates and art clips, I am a print shop pro addict so things of this nature I do Like, as far as the price...well to me 39.95 is a little steep as there are better programs out there for that price that does do more, but for a give away..I scooped up on this one, THanks GGOTD!! I would say a 10 in being easy to work with, and a 7 for overall rating

That's 20 more templates on the website.

Reply   |   Comment by VampireRat  –  14 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

A bit simple for me, but, that said, my attempt at a two-page .EXE slide show failed and began to cause PC errors during Publish. Could have been something I did, however. I was playing with a LOT of stuff. Will try again later.

My experience with many other Windows graphics programs helped a lot. I understand layers, adding and moving elements to the page, and photo effects. The uninitiated should defiantly go through Help first. I found lots of right-click menus by trial and error. Clicking on the page tabs, for instance, to move pages or copy them.

After one or two more projects, I will want more clipart, frames, etc. There are actually less than 150 clipart images, Guess the "hundreds" are there when you count the frames, text art, and the many texture images that you can fill into the (fat) fonts.

I'll recommend this to a niece who has just had a baby and see what she can do with it. BTW, you can get 20 more for free on the website, along with a nice selection of decorative fonts:
http://www.photo-collage-software.com/download.html (bottom)

Since my project didn't play, I don't know: Will my short music piece play once, or will it loop throughout the slideshow? It would be nice to know and to have a choice. Didn't see it if that is there. I wanted it to loop.

I want Options. Would like to set some things just once, such as location for project files.

I just found out that I can click Browse and access clipart on my own computer. That's handy.

I've always hated wizards. Just give me a way do do it by myself.
#24, Merrill, don't just Save As. Try the Publish wizard to get screensaver files, EXE slideshows, many image formats. I can't do the e-mail. It opens an e-mail and attaches a file - someone tell me what kind, please?

The Comparison page gave me a lot more ideas of what this program will do. It says you can design your own templates, for instance. Have to dip back into the Help file for that. . .

The Comparison link is not working on this page:

Sounds like a good program and has some nice features but I have been using SCRAPBOOK FLAIR for a while now and it has been good to me. This software is always free and at over 20 mb it has nice features plus you can download, also for free, special add on packages, templates, backgrounds and embelishments.
Thanks GOTD for the nice program but today I will pass.

Something with what I would guess a very limited appeal. That isn't a bad thing. The niche markets have to be catered for as well.

However I see that their support forums are still a shambles. Be carefull when visiting them because it seems some people have taken the time to register with them to get access to the forum so as to spam it with messages that are NSFW.

If you are someone with lots of time on your hands you might take advantage of it while it's free. There are however similiar programs around that do let you do more and that are less expensive.

Just to add to my previous comment of praise - it is a real shame that you cannot save the file you create as anything but an *.scs - this means that you cannot email the file to anyone without the program as it will not open on their PC. It would be such a great addition for Wondershare to allow the project to be saved in different formats, PowerPoint would be ideal for instance. This would greatly add value to the software which, although excellent, is unrealistic as there is no way everyone you know is going to have the program on their computer - and as such the facility of "sharing your albums with family and friends" is sadly just not possible without printing out and posting.

Whenever I see a Wondershare giveaway I know that it is going to be very high quality - and this is no exception!!

This is the most simple, gorgeous program for creating beautiful layouts of photos. Although it is meant for cyber-scrapbooking, I would also use the pages of the "scrapbook" on my website, the effects of the program are simply astonishing and with "drag and drop" ease of use, the program could not be more simple to use.

Even those who do not think they are into scrapbooking should have a look at this program - there are far more uses than scrapbooking itself, the software offers a huge range of picture layouts with professional, sensational effects being created in literally less than a minute. Spectacular.
