I am unable to download any videos from Hulu or Netflix (both paid subscriptions). It keeps telling me "Error! Please check your network connection, then try again." but I am not having any connectivity issues.
I have used Digiarty software in the past and have enjoyed that. I thought I would give WonderFox a shot but I see that we are heading back to Digiarty WinX.
In WonderFox's defense, I couldn't get WinX YouTube Downloader to download Hulu or Netflix either, but it doesn't claim that they can.
PlayOn is able to record Hulu and Netflix though.
Thank you for the giveaway and the attempt to let all of us try the software before we buy, but this one did not go well.

TrackStar, To the best of my knowledge, both Netflix and Hulu have specially designed software to prevent programs such as Wonderfox from being able to download their content.

Can't get the link via email. A message comes up that says it's been sent to my email address but nothing arrives. Checked trash - not there. This hasn't happened before.

I'm not sure why "Hulu" is mentioned, as it seems to have no way to log in to your hulu to access the videos from there. It just gives an error message.

Does this convert videos embedded in web pages, or just DVDs?

I started using this video converter many years ago, purchased it and continue to update and use it regularly. It is easy to use. The conversion is quick. I have never regretted buying the program.

I prefer version WinX HD Video Converter 5.18 from Digiarty with license from Digiarty! It is easier to use. I let the newer versions pass by.

"I update primarily to be sure I have the latest codecs"
The main reason to update DVD rippers, including WonderFox DVD Video Converter, is to be able to handle new DRM. DRM on retail video DVDs, while slight compared to Blu-rays, does still evolve, if at a slower pace. The codecs these ffmpeg-based converters use are all included in the free ffmpeg code libraries, and most, e.g., x264 for AVC/H.264, don't change much. That said, after backing up the current files, you can always download the latest ffmpeg version and try to replace what comes with the app, which are not always the latest BTW. I've had that work. ffmpeg.org

mike, The reason that I keep using an older video converter with a license from Digiarty is that there are sometimes too many sub's in MKV files that first have to disappear, so that only the NL Subs are present when converting with the free VideoToVideo Converter that does not Works with the H265 Codec. Then there is only present in a converted Movie, mpeg2 for video and mp2 for Audio. The Free VideoToVideo Converter is then used to insert the NL Subs when converting. Another advantage is that I have the key of that video converter. And upgrades are not always ideal, the reason; unclear.

mike, I don't have an optical drive, so I don't need a DVD ripper.

Is this give away for a lifetime license, or just a one year?
Save | Cancel
Waldo, the description says it's a lifetime license. However, it's lifetime for this version only, so if you get offered an upgrade through the program, I'd recommend not installing it. You'll likely lose the registration for this version after you install the new version and then have to register the new version.

Do I need to uninstall version 28.2 from GOTD before installing this version ?

rww, I've just installed it without removing the old version, it automatically detected the old install directory, I just had to copy/paste the new registration code. Hope this helps.

I've been using this program for years. It's routinely updated, and the author is responsive to questions. I liked it so much, that I not only purchased this program, but also HD video converter. I have no hesitation in recommending either of these programs from Wonderfox.

Sorry but it doesn't work for me in a test (neither did Wonderfox DVD Ripper Pro 20.0 from an earlier Giveaway).
Feeding it a 2009 DVD (I just bought a TV series, used, from e-bay and wanted to check the DVDs were good within the return period) it finds way way more videos than are actually there, going through 99 items, over 30 (I got bored counting) of which are 40-50 mins long (the episodes are actually about 1.5GB each BTW). I suspect less well protected DVDs might be fine (but it is 14 years old, no shiny new tech involved), so take this comment with a pinch of salt as it may work for others.
Other tools I've tried did work, so the DVD is not going back. (In fairness to WonderFox for doing the give-away I won't mention names.)

I see my reply got nuked, anyway whatever, in case WonderFox are interested the DVD I tested with is the Region 1 version of October Road season 2 (B001FB5TAY to its friends), which was released in 2009 (I bought a 2nd-hand copy, which I'm enjoying watching). Widely available used, some new too...
