I was immediately loving the free DL of Wondershare until I finnally tried to burn it. It was slow and clunky just trying to get it done
4 hrs later It crashed my computer. I got puter back up to find a message saying I had not registered. Hmmm I got a code and it said I was registered. I am upset and I hope my email to tech help can be of service to me. I do think the program is wonderful only if I can get the final results I needed in the first place. Please help if you know of any solutions for me.

I downloaded the Wondershare DVD Slide Show Maker Standard, and after hours of trying to get it to work, contacted their support center. I was advised that it does not support Windows Media Player on XP. It would have been nice to know that prior to the time spent downloading and working on it.

Nice share. Just wanted to know something thou, concerning all the shares, if I've installed once, but for some reason had to remove or format, will I be able to use the same setup file yet again for a fresh install outside the giveaway period?

I Fully agree with Mr.paul's Comment # 34
We should able to select our choice and apply to all the snaps at a time and not wasting time by doing it individually. And also no separate command for Slide duration and Transition duration.

Absolutely great giveaway, one of the ten best of these past four years.
Easy registration, easy to use, although the learning curve may not be as quick as we'd like.

Of particular note: You do not need to have a clue what you are doing.
Just jump in to create your first one.
SUPERPLUS: you can export to so many choices of formats.

Four-star. Thank you to Wondershare and GOTD. Grab it while you can.

I got the program installed and registered apparently OK, however, it will not run. When I try to start the program, I get the error message "Access violation at address 11AF9062 in module ‘ProjectDoc.Read”, Read of address 00000000." The error message can be closed, but the same one immediately pops up again making it impossible to run the program. I tried uninstalling and installing a second time with the same results. Any help?

Now that the glitch in the “Activation Website” seems to have been sorted I like what I see so far.

As an aside, I feel it is unfortunate that so many programmes promoted on here suffer “Activation Problems”.

Call me “Old Fashioned”, but I would have thought that anyone clever enough to write the programmes, would be clever enough to ensure that activation went seamlessly.

Anyway, a big thank you to GOTD and Wondershare for some excellent promotions.

@ Laurie Bishop # 51, after selecting your photos and placing them in the slide show template, right click on "style" Icon.(the little thumb nail top left of photo),and click set style duration. There you can enter the amount of time you want the slide show to run.In the video I made I entered up to 10 seconds for some of the frames. Hope this was helpful.

I installed Wondershare DVD Builder on both of my computers with windows vista 32 bit on my desktop computer and on my Toshiba lap top running windows 7 32 bit and it registered and works great on both computers, if it runs to fast then all you need do is set the style duration for each frame style and then it works beautifully and you do not need to register the styles and other features if you successfully registered your copy, I did not have to register the styles or anything else and they all work, thank you GAOTD and Wondershare

Installed/Registered on another PC OK - it seems from my experience anyway that if you had installed the previous version & even if it is uninstalled then although it is the new version that opens it is the PREVIOUS version that looks like is tryimg to be (re)registered & of course that is finished.

In case of certain registration problems! If you previously had an earlier version of this Wondershare promotional on your computer and you allowed the new install to uninstall the old version, then you will have registration problems because it still see's some of the old files listed in your registry. Best solution is to try this: WITH Wondershare still installed, download a free version of Revo Uninstaller and install on your computer; click on uninstall Wondershare DVD... and then click on the advanced uninstall. Next, follow the instructions. When it says completely removed, click next to uninstall all the registry items as well. Make sure all are checked off. Click "next" until totally finished. This also may be a reason why some functions like Effects are not working.

Selecting the "Personalize" tab gives the error "GdiplusFontFamilyNotFound". Dismissing the error brings up another error box in the lower right. This goes on and on, and I have to quit the program with the Task Manager. Windows 7 Premium here. Any help would be appreciated.

I just watched your video on Youtube. You're right, it's great. I wonder why I am having problems with the excess speed? It would make a HUGE difference if I could just get the transitions and the credits to slow down!!!

Hi--had to try this. Good news and bad news for me--here's my assessment.

I was thrilled to find it similar to the defunct Windows Movie Maker, which I loved (except for it crashing frequently on numerous platforms, unfortunately). The layout is much the same. However, there is less flexibility in fine-tuning the video/slideshow: you cannot lengthen or shorten the time a photo is shown, cannot slow down the effects (they are set to move at a tremendous speed), Simple, slower transitions are missing (better for pictures of your deceased grandmother), and not all effects are available for a single photo. Also, some effects are clunky: in the page turn effect the corner of the page starts to curl up, then the effect just disappears without completing.

I'd like to see: Slow fade in, slow fade out, simple wipe left, simple wipe right, fade in and hout heart frame (with no light blip)...If you can download a copy of the old Windows Movie Maker (should be available on the web) please look at the effects they offer. They are much more flexible to use for those who prefer to create on their own and not use the premade sets of effects.

Speed again: I could not find a way to slow down the credits. Extending the seconds just extended the wait for the first picture, and my credits still flashed by so fast I couldn't read them. Also--no continuous scrolling of credits; all text had to be visible on the initial screen.

When I saved my project to mp4, half of the pictures were missing and there were delays in places. When I saved to WMV it did quite well.

The addition of photo editing is nice. It cropped fine; however, I could not get the redeye elimination to work at all.

The sound incorporation works very well. Liked that a lot.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit fwiw.

Thanks for this software! It seems very promising.

Hi, looks like a great program - inserted several photos however when I went onto the Personalize tab came up with GdiplusFontFamilyNotFound. Can you please advise how to fix this as love the idea of the program just can't make it work for me. Each time I click on the OK it comes up with the same message again. Had to close the program as I could go no further. I have Windows 7.

I can’t obtain the keycode either.

I.E.Explorer locks up and in turn locks up the whole damn computer.

Firefox returns a “Sorry Site Error” from the same web address.

All very disappointing as if the software is as good as their “Flash Gallery” it would be a keeper.

Sorry to hear that on earlier occasion some people did not get the upgrade they had ordered and paid for. It is not my experience.I also upgraded to Deluxe version and got exactly as ordered. The Deluxe version has the huge advantage that it allows you to include video segments.

This is a very nice piece of software indeed - especially for me. Downloaded, installed great, registered fine - no problems. I have been playing around with my test file of photos to see what this SW could do. Was able to change intro music on the DVD Menu to my liking; added my own background music; moved the slides as I wanted, titles etc. All went smooth. Threw the whole arsenal of random effects etc and all went well. I especially like the way the music faded in and faded out. Having moved recently, my blank DVDs are somewhere, so I burned my demo to my HD ( changing the location to where I put my test things.) Again all went well. More to learn, but think I will enjoy this program. Thank Wondershare and GAOTD for another program to learn and enjoy. Have a nice day everyone.

Ok Windows 32x Ultimate. Used code from website with the launch of program. Control-C & paste worked. Didn't wait for email after got the 'data processing' remark following code listing at site.
Easy enough prg with small set of clean up tools for hue, brightness, etc. for those scans of photos made from slides. Have a big collection of slides but no real scanner (tried flatbed printer scan but poor output). Haven't tried the 39 images from slides made by a lab onto a DVD to see how those import. They too have some darkish parts on some of them. Labs just set for one pattern and run them all thru the same. If done yourself prob can adjust for that. Takes hours to convert boxes of slides but that's only way.
Thanks guys for useful prg and comments about not upgrading and such! Made that a habit while back. Good reminder.

Internet Explorer is used by many programs because it is always there, and many programs load it even if you have your default as something else, I know it can be a pain, but it's a fact and won't be going away, just like IE won't be going away fore if you uninstall IE and have say FF as your lone browser, you will eventually find many things do not work anymore, so be warned & keep IE fyi...

Yes it would be nice to know those things in advance, but is not the case. I have found as a rule of thumb that the best thing, if I do not have other information is to first uninstall the old copy and then install the new copy. I use an uninstaller software program that monitors the install and uninstall and does a better job than Windows in this process.

#27: "when I ran it and tried to use the effects it keeps telling me they are not registered and so I cannot use them..even though the software registration completed and told me it was now registered!"

Sometimes options shown are only available with the more expensive app or as an add-on. Under Styles for example there's a heading that says: "Movie Style Pack2 (Unregistered)".

* * *

#30: "Can’t get it to play in windows media player once saved as wmv file"

Doesn't *seem* to encode anything odd according to MediaInfo -- works here in Wmplayer. Maybe try the free VLC player?

Wondershare DVD Slideshow Builder Std. is a nice app for casual use, creating fun slideshows for friends & family. Besides lots of interesting & creative transitions [to use between photos], there's plenty of "canned" embellishments like animated, albeit cartoonish sprites [e.g. animated teddy bears], screen-wide FX [e.g. floating dandelion seeds], and text captions animated to fade in/out, move onto the screen etc. Output can be a video file in several formats [like a converter, several profiles are included], or a simple video DVD that, while not std. or optimized, should play on most players. In a nutshell it's fine for slideshow video, but when it comes to video DVDs [or just video for DVDs or Blu-Ray], for more than casual &/or use you'll be frustrated -- there's just too much you can't do...

Some of the reasons I say today's GOTD is best for casual, fun use [which BTW is Fine -- there's nothing wrong with having fun]... You can't create progressive (23.976 or 24 fps) video (with pull-down), so images won't be as sharp or clear; you can't set mpg2 video bit rate, so no control over video file size or quality, & while it uses VBR [Variable Bit Rate], the top bit rate used is higher than std. (can cause problems); individual slides/photos can't have prev/next buttons, nor will the ones on the remote work to switch slides -- using chapters (or other tricks) to enable prev/next you can use a longer duration or hold, & optionally include a menu with thumbnails of each slide/photo; and while it's not for everyone, advanced DVD authoring apps let you control menu selection highlights -- the lines/shapes/text that change color or glow to show you what's selected.

Unless you're running 7, one thing I think you should know is that the setup for Wondershare DVD Slideshow Builder Std. includes Windows Feature Pack for Storage ("IMAPI_XP_SRV2003_x86.exe") http://goo.gl/hTOTP -- I haven't read of it causing problems, & it didn't cause any for me when I added the update to XP Pro a year ago, but, it changes Windows so I think that's something you should at least be told about, if not given a choice. [You normally install it when you add a Blu-Ray drive so older Windows versions can deal with the UDF 2.5 format BD discs use.] The biggest impact from installing DVD Slideshow Builder Std. itself is the app's size, with 3,291 files in 120 folders taking up ~108 MB in the program's folder -- when you include the Microsoft update however you get 2k+ new registry entries [Wondershare sticks to their habit of hardly touching the registry at all, so those are most all Microsoft's]. Besdies Start Menu shortcuts, DVD Slideshow Builder (or DSB) adds a folder to All Users App (or Application) Data, along with a folder in My Documents [XP = Application Data -- Vista/7 = App Data].

Using DSB previewing your work is important -- in one case it added a wedding-type caption [AFAIK all by itself] that I had to start over with a new project to get rid of. And while previewing the slideshow in DSB works well enough, it was deceiving -- the actual video it created went much faster than I expected, with some transitions seeming to just fly by... I'd suggest rendering a (lower quality, smaller) video 1st as a timing check before rendering your complete project.

When you open DSB you see the "Organize" view with all slideshows on the left, imported images along the bottom, & front & center a preview of the selected slide. You can add images, drag/drop reorder them, & clicking the "Edit" button, Adjust, Crop, Filter, Flip, &/or Repair Red-eye. The "Personalize" view is where things get busy. Your slides are still along the bottom -- Note the "Storyboard" & "Timeline" buttons just above them on the right... Some things are easier, others impossible without switching between the two. On the left side of the window are the built-in collections of "Styles" [transitions that go between slides], "Clipart" [where you'll find the animated Teddy Bears], "Effect" [the blowing Dandelion Seeds etc.], "Pre-Audio" [e.g. 2 cats, 2 dogs, 3 laughs etc.], & "Intro/Credit" [add an animated clip that you can customize to beginning or end]. Right-clicking a slide you can open the combined Edit / Add Caption window.

Adding "Styles" can get confusing... Easiest is to use the "Random" drop-down menu, but regardless, once styles are applied your individual slides can turn into what looks like groups of slides, reflecting which images are going to be used creating the transition. At the far left of any slide (or group of slides) is the Style square -- right-click to set duration, or drag another style on top of it to replace. Clipart, Effects, & Pre-Audio are best applied [drag/drop] using the Timeline view where you can drag to place, drag ends to adjust duration -- you can also drag the end of each slide. And you can record audio using either Storyboard or Timeline.

On to the "Create" view, you can either render your slideshow to a video file, using the drop-down menus on the far left, or setup & create your DVD. Front & center is a preview of your main DVD menu page, with each slideshow in the project shown as one button. Across the top are buttons to help you align movable elements, & right-clicking let's you add or edit elements depending on what you clicked. To the right are included backgrounds, but you can (right-click or use the "Edit" button to) use your own still or video, & the same Customize DVD Menu also has tabs to set menu background music & duration, what image to use for a slideshow button thumbnail, if that thumbnail should be in a frame (along with a selection of frames), if you want to edit or add optionally animated text, & set the style of arrow buttons used (with a selection to choose from). Clicking the Preview button shows the preview window with a remote on the right to test. Three tabs across the bottom let you disable the DVD menu entirely [insert the DVD & the slideshow just plays], or if the slideshows should play one after the other instead of returning to the menu when a slideshow finishes. The Options tab lets you select DVD burner, quality, PAL or NTSC, & 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios. Output Settings lets you set where you want the DVD folder created, if you want it created, & gives the opeion of creating an ISO image file to burn.

Overall *to me* DSB is a fun, creative program to create fun slideshows. OTOH while the basics are there to create a nice [if simpler] DVD, the interlaced mpg2 encoding, too high max bit rate, & non-std DVD lead me to suggest doing that part elsewhere if it's no too much trouble for you. [you could export HD avi (720p - 23.97 or 24 fps) which would give plenty of resolution for DVD software to resize & encode with little quality loss from the originals, you'ld like as not be able to do as nice or nicer menus, & the results should play glitch free wherever.] ANd if the animated sprites & FX don't matter to you, check out DVD Slideshow GUI http://goo.gl/p0QYm

One other point I think worth mentioning..after I entered my details and registered, I got a registration confirmation message, but now it doesn't show my email address in the reg details, but "a@b.com" instead..which is not what I entered.

Don't know why it has done this, as you would think the details entered would the be details that would be shown after..but I thought it worth passing on here, just in case this is some kind of flaw.

All I missing something here..or have they simply bundled a load of stuff into this offering that we cannot use unless we pay for the right to do so?

If so, then there's not much point in using something that is as limited as this appears to be..or maybe I am missing something here or there is something wrong with the copy I have installed!

I also had installed the version 6.0.1.23 from a giveaway back in September 2010. Often we are provided the information, but not always (such as today). As a result we could end up wasting our precious time downloading, installing, checking out a version we already had or a version including new enhancements we do not need. When a newer version is offered via the Giveawayoftheday, at a minimum we should be told up front things such as :

- When the same software was offered on GAOD in the past, specify the exact version we are offered now.

- Do we need to UNINSTALL manually the old version prior to installing the new one.

- If we do not wish to lose the old version, can the new version be installed separately in a different directory without causing conflicts (eg. registry, etc.) or problems between the two versions running on the same machine.

- If the registration requires Key Codes, must one obtain a new Key Code from the vendor or will the one from the previous Giveaway still work.
- A brief list of new changes or important bug fixes being incorporated in the new version of the Giveaway.

- What features (if any) were not included in the version provided by the Giveaway and the full version being sold by the vendor (eg. less templates, less styles, disabled SAVE option, etc.).

- Whether the new version being given away is a beta version. If the old version was a fairly stable and bug-free version, but the new one is not, then I may prefer not to install the new version over the old one or prefer to wait until a more stable version becomes available.

BTW, I don't know if this was already mentioned here. Some of you may be interested on this special deal being offered until tomorrow 2010-12-07 directly from the Ashampoo site. You pay $20US and select up to 5 Ashampoo software products not exceeding a total maximum value of $100US. Some of the software products were offered in the past for free here at Giveawayoftheday (Eg. Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 Advanced on 2010-08-26).

I attempted to install, received the "Successfully Activated" message from GAOTD, but also got a "Access is Denied" message!

I'm running Win 7, home Premium, 64-bit; lots of RAM and disc.

Please help!

I just finished two mixed video/photo/graphic/title movies last week. I've tried Movie Maker, AviDemux, a couple "slideshow builders" and a bunch of others I forgot the names of, but the easiest one was OpenShot.

One word of advice to budding directors: Don't overdo the transitions! Just because there's 300 to choose from, you don't have to use them all, and randomly.

Comment #8 is exactly right. I upgraded, to nothing better than what they gave me. When I complained to Wondershare and asked for my money back, I was told by Wondershare "... sure you will understand." At age 75, living on SS and a disappeared retirement, $ really count. At least I was not the only one mislead. Thank you Wondershare for the good you have done, but please do not lose the positive image by misleading.
