rww, No, just install over the top (which worked for me), my 3.9.8 just used the licence from 3.9.7 so I didn't even need the new licence.

Reasonably useful but the previous version I had installed "deactivated" itself and became a "trial" version.
This offering is billed as "lifetime". I hope that is true, this time. If it truly is "lifetime", then thank you Digiarty Software!! I hope other "extended trial" and crippleware vendors will take note.

To use Winx DVD Copy Pro 3.9.8 you do need a PC/laptop with an optical drive. Nowadays, those devices are rare, if not to get or buy anymore!

Thea Samuels, I did a search for "External Blu-ray Drives" on Amazon UK and got 11 pages of hits... "Internal Blu-ray Drives" produced far less, but still plenty to choose from...

Thea Samuels, To all, the time of DVDs burning has been over for me for several years. My Smart Flat Screen can record movies on an external SSD. Between brackets, i have 668 films that I can play on my Smart Flatscreen via the USB port. So, i don't need a DVD Reader/Burner! So, burning DVDs is a thing of the past.128 DVDs I still have! The disadvantage of DVDs is the image resolution that is for Pal 720x576. For NTSC that is 720x480, not very ideal, that comes from the time that TVs existed with an image tube (beedbuis). That was a long time ago. Now nobody talks about that kind of TVs

P.S. I also see it says:
"The giveaway version doesn't support decrypting the latest encryption tech in commercial DVD"
Which is fine for me as I'm not planning on using it for commercial DVDs.
Although saying "Supported the newest released DVD" in the feature list higher up this page is probably an editing error...
I don't remember if 3.9.7 has this restriction, but of course the current "newest DVDs" weren't out then... depending on how broad a definition of "newest" they are taking (21st Century? This year? etc.).

Didn't need to enter a licence key as just used the key from the GAotD 3.9.7 version.
