When files (from the recycle bin) are deleted, that is the place where other data can be written. No recovery program can recover it when it has been partially overwritten. Especially when it comes to photos and media files. Photos are damaged and media files can no longer be played because; "the necessary codecs are missing or the file is damaged, or, cannot render".

I’ve owned an Android phone for 8 years plus, and an iPhone 6S for 6 months or so. Android phones are far more easier to navigate and never had to recover any data.... EXCEPT for upgrading to another Android phone or re entering music files.
I can’t even get this iPhone to sort it’s iMessages by date, and when I need to restart my iPhone after a software update or crash, the iMessages or text messages (ALL) set to current time and date. The Android phones never had that issue. Even when transferring my messages and settings to a new phone!
...
I can understand a Windows based PC to need recovery software, as there seems to be the need to recover or transfer data or other important files as such.

Does this require a supported version of iTunes in order to operate? If so how is:
"System Requirements:
Windows 2000/ XP/ Vista/7/ 8/ 8.1/ 10"
accurate as no supported version of iTunes is installable on Windows 2000 and I believe XP and Vista compatible versions of iTunes are no longer supported and Apple do not obviously provide unsupported legacy versions of iTunes for legacy versions of Windows for public download.
If the program is run without iTunes installed the GUI pops up and asks us to plug in the device and has a link "iDevce can't be recognized? Click here > >" which if we do a pop up panel apears and ont it it states
"1. Make sure you have installed the latest iTunes on your computer. Click here to download latest iTunes."
The installation does not include and driver files so it does rely upon iTunes completely for device connectivity.

"and have never had to restore data."
I do that kind of work for decades, finding missing photo's, data etc..
Someone had a SD-card in a camera; some else had also a camera with a full SD, different type and borrowed the SD-card to taken some pictures. After that the photo's from yesterday and before were missing in the old camera. So I did use some recovery program's and found about 150 old photo's from the holiday.
Another one: some had trouble with Windows and the shop has replaced Windows with a new copy. And they did not save any documents, any picture. Certainly not the pictures of a funeral of dad. Also recovered.
Another one: some shared a folder of the PC to the network in the company. And he saw two folders with the same content(own PC and the shared one on the network) and deleted one of them: the whole administration of 3 years was gone. Also a mistake.
And a lot of people do delete something and later on have regrets that it is deleted.

Wouldn't an Android OS recovery app be a somewhat more popular offering?
Anyone with an iPhone care to say how useful this is? Already nine down votes to seven up -- and a totally blank comment page, two hours after launch.
