The program is advertising 70 transition effects, not 70 templates as some think. I am not very computer savvy so I have just been sitting back and reading the comments. I wasn't going to download this program but not I am glad I did. I think it is a very neat program. I don't see a thing wrong with it. Thanks GOTD and Thundersoft. I am looking forward to playing with this.

Whoooa quite a bit of negativity here - To quote "I don’t imagine it being used too much for serious work" - I take my work very seriously and believe me my 2 clowns, 5 fairies, 3 kids entertainer websites will LOVE this. I purchased this offer and the programme although naive in some respects is still a great little programme with which to teach younger ones. The original price is somewhat too steep for me depending on the AUD however at $9.95 I grabbed it.

It's annoying that people have posted such unwarranted negative comments here earlier today. (Was someone trying to scare away customers from the competition?)
As already said it's quite a nice little app, I was particularly surprised how snappy everything worked during the creation phase on a not too fast computer. Definitely better than most other similar apps. I also noticed the absence of sound in the EXE output. I wonder whether that's a general bug or whether this is only present in the GOTD build.

The default three second delay between photos is a bit on the short side for my taste but fortunately you can change the default value so you don't have to do so for every new slide show. I think that all functions can be found without the help file if you do a few right-clicks here and there. Well... apart from the few at the start of this page who apparently weren't gifted with such abilities.

If I had a means for international payment that would be accepted by the developer I might even have considered buying it.

Downloaded, installed and registered fine. Simple interface. Basically does what it claims without much hassle. Has fairly good features for publishing, emailing ect.. But, lacks tremendously in the template category. Although there are 47 templates, most templates in the respective category are not much different from each other. I score it as follows on a ratio of 1 to 10.

Functionality: 7

Ease of use: 7

Control Options: 7

Templates: 3

In comparison with most other GOTD products: 4

Overall: 28 out a possible 50

It appears this is basically a ploy by the software creator to get you to buy the remaining templates. Personally, I see mot much difference in the paid versus those offered with the software.

As another post above notes, this software, based on the included templates, is basically for family type use and probably cannot be used to enhance your business.

I test drove the program, and I like it a lot. It did everything I wanted it to do, including creating a .sfw file with html code, which I was able to insert into a div on an htm page and upload to my web host. The slideshow is embedded in an i-phone template, which is completely customizable by size and background color. The important thing to do when reviewing this software is to go through each section of the creation process. Functions are not placed in the same intuitive places like they are in Wondershare; yet, it is still a pretty powerful, fun little program. A keeper on my computer.

When you open the program, the first screen to appear is NOT the template screen. You need to hit the NEW button in the top left corner and then it will open the rest of the program, and a photo insert dialogue comes up. If you close that, you will see buttons on the bottom for Template, Decorate, etc. There are only 47 templates in this version. A new program should be given a little exploration before making some of these snap judgments I see all the time from the impatient and discontent.

For those of you who are only finding 3 templates . . if you open the program and click on "Templates" on the bottom of the software, you will see all 47 templates. They aren't too bad . . a lot of child like is stated but there are some pretty decent plain templates that can be used for lots of things.

ThunderSoft Flash Slideshow Factory is a cute app that IMHO you might enjoy, particularly with friends or family members, creating fairly simple, short slideshows. I don't imagine it being used too much for serious work, though a small biz might use it to give a very personal [non-big business] touch to communicating with customers every once in a while. The slideshows you create are all Flash Shockwave based, with most everything other than your photos already stored in that format, ready for you to use. That means that while you can pick & choose things like clipart, frames, & sprites, you can't create new ones on your own. Thankfully the included bits & pieces are for the most part entertaining [think cartoonish], & I can think of more than a few family members who would get silly & have a ball with it.

When you start Flash Slideshow Factory you're shown a window with the 3 included sample projects -- unless you have a project already saved you'll click "New" & get started importing the pics you want to use. The window that opens to import your images by default shows thumbnails in the folder you selected, & when you're done you can select any individual photo & do some very minor editing [crop, brightness, contrast, rotate etc.]. Next step, click the "Template" button on the lower left -- it comes with 47 templates, & as has already been mentioned, downloading the free template pack won't do you much good. At any rate, once you select a template you can make a few minor settings, import an audio track if you want, & it's on to the next step, clicking the "Decorate" button. Here you can choose the photo frame used, *if* your selected template gives you more than one choice, & set the individual transitions between one photo & the next -- or just be lazy & click random. With your selected image front & center (as it'll appear in the finished project), you can drag animated sprites onto the page -- you can also add text, hyperlinks, imported clipart, & short audio clips/sound FX [it comes with a few, like birds, frogs, & tigers to give you an idea]. You also have short intro & end credits added automatically that you can add your own text to, or turn off. For the last step you click the "Publish" button where you can preview your work, & export your project as a Shockwave file [.swf] with or with out an html page with the needed code; as a self-running executable file [.exe], which is basically the .swf file bundled with the stand-a-lone Flash projector; as a screensaver; Send by Email; Share Online [upload to the company's server]; or convert to a video file [there aren't that many formats available, but I think it should have enough to get you by].

Because of all the small files with sprites & clipart & such, the program's folder has 1,421 files in 131 folders taking up ~44 MB -- in XP the registry got ~75 new entries. Because so much is Flash-based, it can eat up a fair amount of CPU resources when you add & have animated sprites running -- without them you should barely notice today's GOTD is running. And while it doesn't install Flash for you, it does use & need it.

All in all the best way I can describe my impressions of ThunderSoft Flash Slideshow Factory is that it's a little bit silly but in an intentionally fun way. You can certainly try to do more serious stuff with it, but to me where it shines is in being fun, & where it's more practical, not so much.

I agree the templates are a little "child" level. As for the sound, it worked fine for me when creating MP4 or FLV files, but the EXE had no sound at all.

I am a great fan of GAOTD and look forward to seeing what's new each day, and I have never seen a program where I was so affected as to write comments until today. This photo to flash program is at best limited to images of children compiled by someone with no computer skills.

The range of templates is pathetic and those offered for purchase don't seem much better.

Secondly, this is the first time I have seen a "GAOTD Edition" of a program. You must pay for the 'regular" version. Is there a new concept of "teaseware?"

There are dozens of such programs which offer a full range of templates and effects. I pass on this.

From SOFTPEDIA:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Graphic-Others/Flash-Slideshow-Factory.shtml

Rated Excellent (4.8/5) by 18 users. So definitely not a crappy program.

But maybe that rating refers to the Full version of ThunderSoft Flash Slideshow Factory, right??

So does anybody kon what's the main difference between this GAOTD version and the one rated as excellent by Softpedia users??

The number and the quality of Templates??

Well additional Templated can be downloaded for FREE on the developer's site:

Installed OK on XP x64. Upon opening for the first time, my FW blocked it (Ashampoo's free firewall)--the program was trying to call home. It seems to run OK if blocked. The project window looks suspiciously close to Aneesoft's Flash program offered here recently (which BTW, I like and is installed on my main machine and in use). This program is OK, does the basics, and todays price is right. There's a "templates" button in the project window. Clicking it does not open a folder with templates, but rather it's a link to their site to buy templates. If you click the "register" button just to see what it says, it--yep, you guessed it--tries to call home again, but does show Giveawayoftheday, and a key (which is useless for today's type of setup file). For those who choose to, it may be re-installed later if installed through "Installrite 2.5".

#2 is SO RIGHT! 3 stinking (literally) templates! Don't waste your time.

Shame on GOTD for hosting this less-than-shareware version of a program, especially when GOTD has provided such wonderful SW like Wondershare Flash Gallery Factory, Aneesoft Flash Gallery Classic, and Aneesoft 3D Flash Gallery.

ok a quote from GOTD team the other day on the 13th
"due to major problem with ThunderSoft Flash Slideshow Factory 2.5.0 activation (especially on Windows x64) we have decided to replace it with Boxoft PDF To Video.

As for ThunderSoft Flash Slideshow Factory – we will bring it back as soon as all the troubles are handled."

Should have left the program alone its not worth the time, as stated above the templates offered are limited and none of the other templates show in the program unless you know how to change some codes and settings in the program files, not worth my time hacking it. But if you have never ever dealt with flash and you wanna have some fun go ahead and download but since this is a limited version and you have to pay $9.95 to get full version I strongly advise Thundersoft developers to reconsider.

I usually don't comment on the Giveaways, but there seems to be some misinformation above, and a lot folks that might benefit from this software will likely be put off.

1. Downloaded and registered fine.

2. Spartan opening screen (really meant for playing back slideshows already created), but there's easily accessible "Help" button that steps you through creating a slideshow, and a fairly large "New" button that the curious will click on without bothering with the help.

3. Having clicked the "New" button you'll be greeted by a filemanager and a helpful "Collect photos" caption. So I found some photos in the filemanager and selected "Add". It's not brain surgery so far. (This tab also serves as a usable photo brower; you can also apply effects to each photo individually -- haven't tried that yet)

4. Next you'll notice there are 4 tabs on the bottom: "Photo" (currently selected), "Template", "Decorate" & "Publish"

5. I went to "Template" -- there are 70+ templates to choose from, as advertised. I'm not saying they're all fantastic, but they are there.
You can also select background music while on this tab. I selected a template and chose some background music -- done and done.

6. On the decorate tab you can add animated graphical effects and sound effects as well as provide your own clipart or text to decorate the slideshow (not tested)

7. On the publish tab you can select the output format. I've only tested 'Make executable' so far -- it worked fine with my selected template and background music.

I certainly wouldn't pay $50 for this software, but I am just as certainly tempted to pay $10 (for the full version today) to support the publisher.

--

On a completely unrelated note -- if you missed the recently given away Process Lasso, that is another giveaway that I felt compelled to support given the quality and functionality of the software, and supportiveness (is that a word? not enough coffee) of the author.

I downloaded this program and tried it. Kind of confusing when I started using it right after the install. I closed it and reopened it, and saw the stuff I needed. Like the choice of templates, plenty of the in this edition, simple to add photos and text. Tried some others, this falls in the middle range, useful, will use it just to change up with other templates from time to time.

Win XP SP3

I was fortunate enough to have downloaded this program the other day when it was offered here for a few hours before being pulled and changed for another program.
Be aware that the extra templates offered on the vendors website do not work with this special GOTD version - I have that info from the vendor after trying endlessly to install them (They install but cannot be seen by the program). Thank you to Chen @ Thundersoft for his speedy response.
Having said that, there are enough templates (47) with a wide range of subjects and overall the program is a nice addition to anyone's arsenal for creating flash projects.
Thumbs up !

Is this the same version given on 10th of this month???
if yes, then i would say that this software has very fine features. You can insert different cliparts to individual pictures but you can't decide the type of transition of each frame/picture, as there are many preincluded slideshow transitions among which you can choose one. you may insert your music... finally i would say that WONDERSHARE DVD SLIDESHOW BUILDER is far better than this one, and if you haven't got it then you should download this software... BYE!!!

It is very rare that I comment on a poorly done program. I go about my business and hope that the program's author will learn how to do a better job in the future. Today's program is an exception. I doubt that without heavy-handed direction that today's program developer will never get a clue on how to grow in the shareware field.

One heck of a lot of things must've been left out of my download. What I ended up with is an empty program with no meaningful direction to it. Is very difficult to comment on program that at the best is a smoke and change slideshow. The "templates", which are left out of the GOTD edition of the program, are so amateurish that they would probably only be used by a child of elementary school age.

A price tag of $4.99 might be appropriate for this program. Even at that low price probably the only people not wanting a refund of their money would be those that never ran the program. The discounted prices available for 24 hours only to the GOTD crowd will never fly. Maybe something was left out of my download. A charitable idea would be to download the program again and see if anything better comes out-of-the-box.
