If you need to convert some text to audio or you're just looking for a way to preview some content without having to actually spend time reading it, Vovsoft Text to MP3 Converter can do both, offering you choices for the used speech engine, as well as the output audio format. The two main options offer users the choice of increased quality (WAV) or a more compact recording (MP3). "Speech Speed" option allows from 10x slow to 10x fast playing and recording. If you seek a basic application that can help you perform text to audio conversions, without having to resort to complex steps and configuration processes, try out this simple yet quite capable software.

In addition to text files, this software also supports loading PDF files and Microsoft Word documents. This MP3 maker software can be used for Word to MP3 conversion by loading DOC and DOCX files on your desktop or laptop computer. You can even use "Batch Conversion" to convert multiple files at once.

Besides the robotic voices offered by Windows, this program also allows you to use natural voices (Alloy, Echo, Fable, Onyx, Nova, Shimmer) provided through the OpenAI API.

I tried several languages, and it's understandable.

Not perfect, but still very good!!!

Good basic software, but unless you're buying additional voices, it's no better than many free alternatives (like Balabolka).

Also misleading that you have to pay an additional $19.99 to use the OpenAI voices (and potentially pay OpenAI as well).

Vovsoft You have insert silence is there a way to make it work for the whole document on the following
@#$%^&*_-+=\/ and :. when not at the end of a sentence

annoyance fix request
When selecting a portion of the document to speak, highlight starts at the beginning of the document and not the selected text
Thank You in advance

Great software. So easy to install - no hoops and loops to jump through to get license. All 3 languages I need - English, German and Spanish sound great. Thanks for the awesome software as a gift:)

A cool program. It transforms PDF-file into the text and reads it. So, it can also transform PDF into text format.
The program has various mono and stereo functions. The out audio quality is very good.

Also, a program has got a function to join and use API-keys of voice from the https://platform.openai.com
But for registration you have to solve an uncomfortable riddle, so it is better to choose the voice version of it, for quicker registration.

If authors and developers can make a function to add also API-keys from Google and Azure, it would be great.
A program can spell word by letters and emphasize sentences. And it is not all.

I like a program.
Thanks to developers for work and giveawayoftheday for the gift.

I have forgotten to say that program does not transform with for their function "pitch" and some other to non English speaking voices, in general. So, pay attention to that.

2) I mean, that few languages of my country program did not change. But maybe it is only for these voices. Do not want to say about every.
Sure, you will search by your self. But I have such problem.
English voices are changed into without problems into it.

The "Microsoft Server Speech" options error with "Class not Registered" - what else needs installing please?

Also are the Open AI speech options something you have to pay for, as it seems you need another $19 (plus VAT?) Vovsoft program to use it, plus a credit card for Open AI?

JohnL, If you go to the Vovsoft website linked from this page, there is a link to Microsoft Speech API (SAPI) Error Messages which addresses the "Class not Registered" message you encountered.

The general help list is:
https://vovsoft.com/help/text-to-mp3-converter/

The page to go to is:
https://vovsoft.com/blog/microsoft-speech-api-sapi-error-messages/

It just suggests running the System File Checker (which is fine, I run it from time-to-time), I think you need an Administrator Command Prompt (right mouse button "Command Prompt" in the Start Menu and select "Run as Administrator") - I just do that automatically as I assume it's required.

But while I do have the sapi v5 dll where it should be this didn't help.

However I do have another (old, 2015) text to speech program (which I'd forgotten about) and when I try that it says "Cannot set voice. No Matching voice is installed or the voice was disabled", which is a much more useful message. Not that I'm much further forward.

Could it be that I'm on "English(United Kingdom)"?

I have two voice packages installed, one 26MB and one 48MB but the Speech part of Control Panel doesn't say any more about them. There are no other English(UK) voices in the list of extra ones you can install.

So that's not working, also I don't know about the OpenAI stuff and how to get it working, do you have to buy the other program or just use it once, or what?

I don't run registry cleaners, horrible things that are likely to do more harm than good.
I'm running a patched-to-current Win10 Pro x64.
Neither SFC or DISM helped at all.
As I'm running Windows x64 I have both:
C:\Windows\System32\Speech\Common\sapi.dll
and:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\Common\sapi.dll
both are v5.3.28619.0 but different sizes, as you'd expect.

Do note it works fine except for the OpenAI stuff that needs a key (or whatever) and all the Microsoft Server Speech Text to Speech Voices.

Is there a way to additional individual voices (not additional languages) to the program? If so, how?

Reply   |   Comment by Rick  –  3 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

Rick, here is the process on the Vovsoft site: https://vovsoft.com/blog/how-to-add-text-to-speech-languages-in-windows/

Note that Microsoft is a very stupid company and calls new Voices "Languages" (nobody can fathom Microsoft's logic behind most of what they do).

Thanks for the Lifetime License and easy install with License Key right in the Read Me file!

Works fine and does exactly what it says it does. I like the options to vary the pitch and speed of the voices because of the limited number of them available.

I do have one suggestion if anyone from Vovsoft sees this; The output options for wav format include bitrate choices with a nice range of 8 to 48 kHz, however; the 41 kHz option really is 41 kHz and not 41.1 kHz. 41.1 kHz is a Standard bitrate and is actually needed for my "Secret Weapon" audio program and it will not accept any other bitrate, including 41.0 kHz.

So, if this could be updated it would make the software much more useful to us weirdos who do strange things with outdated software!

Also; if I have other voices installed for text to speech can this program detect them or are we limited to the voices it comes with?

Oops - I can't edit my comment, but I found how to get more voices, so that part of my comment can be ignored!

Thanks again.
