I must say, I have to give a nod to aTube Catcher, as I didn't see it in the free alternatives. I have tried quite a number of screen capture apps. This thing works great, and is free! It doesn't include an editor, but there's always Movie Maker. It also downloads Youtube videos as a bonus.

I have been using this website for over 3 years now. Some offers are good some offers are not so good. What brings me here every day, is that these are full version programs. VERY, VERY unhappy to see time-limited programs being offered, where before they were full version programs. I'm very much hope this is not the future of this website.

@ 18 : That’s a poorly-written tag-line: “SmartPixel will help you efficiently create exciting, professional and high quality TUTORIALS, games, music videos in a few minutes” – it reads as though this will ‘help you create’ actual games… Which it CAN’T… It would have been better to write “…high quality game tutorials and music videos…”

Why would anyone want to create a tutorial for THEIR software, should'nt it come with one ?

Sorry Smartpixel, I have never nor will I ever rent software. There are way to many free alternatives or at minimum paid software that you can buy not rent. Thumbs way down from me.

Misleading description. It should say "helps you create and edit RECORDINGS OF tutorials, games, videos". It does not help you create games.
Oh, now I see Lee made this point already. His tag line looks better too, "make video game tutorials...."

That sounds to me like just a 6 month trial software.
I don't think so. I will not download this & install it, as it will only give me 6 months of unlimited use.
Else it reverts to a trial (they mispelled this and put trail).

I don't like things that stops working like this. So I opted out and went for giovanni's Ashampoo solution. For those who decide to try that, don't be scared that the initial download is in German. The install WILL be in whatever language you're using (at least mine nicely reverted to English, even with a proper Danish activation thingie)

Think I will pass until they get the bugs worked out with Norton.

In my previous comment I noted that I was unable to import multimedia into this program, as suspected it is a fault in my operating system and not this download. On my ancient laptop the program ran normally.
Often when people have programs that fail to run or, according to them, cause havoc with their systems the systems were fundamentally unstable before the installation of the program. Developers have to develop on the same operating systems that we use and this would not be possible if their programs caused the OS to fail.
I tried to make a slideshow using this program but could not quite work out if individual images could be attached to individual audio files, if it could it would be really useful. Unfortunately my old laptop is so slow it is not realistically possible to do a proper test but it would be interesting to see the results of others. Hopefully someone will publish a comment to clarify the situation.

It seems that no one will answer the question What happens after 6 months? does the software revert to free or does it become limited? I do understand that upgrades are free for 6 months but can the Maker of the program answer that one question. What happens after the 6month vip subscription? I have downloaded the program and have signed up and am using it I don't like the fact it records the menu bar and any mouse clicks it doesn't point out but I will still use it.

Not the first cappture program with a membership (Jetscreenshot does the same and that can only make screenshots, no video, no game recording, yes it has a free version.... just like this one)

I'll stick with my Gadwin's PrintScreen (the freeware version). BTW, it's good for screen captures (pics) but not video so it's not totally comparable to today's giveaway (but I like it and use it EVERY day!)

Looks like a very promising program: can record whatever occurs on your screen, supports webcam record and has the ability to record sound from your microphone.

But why 6 month subscription only? Is this program a classic GAOTD (min 1 year license) or just an extended trial sw?

So overall I give a THUMBS UP for the program but 4 THUMBS DOWN for the registration requirements (hey, dude, we are not stupid here, you know? LOL!)

However, as it can't create games, I won't be bothering.

Wanted to give this a try but when I tried to sign up the verification code wasn't recognized - After several attempts I decided to uninstall and look at some of the free examples posted by other users. Once again GOTD's product registration process is a total washout. Sometimes I ask why I even bother!

Norton warning- software is a Trojan, sending pictures from PC online to unknown destination.

Giovanni - it looks like this would let me make a master video if I was running lets say 4 or 5 videos on my screen. If it does this it should be one of the simplest solutions for this application - do you have any on your magic list of free and good quality that do this well? I have several lower resolution children's videos I want to combine into a family movie with kids doing different things in different panels. Thanks - I routinely rep your analysis.

I agree with Ashraf when I tried the game video capture on Dota II, it's just an exellent game video capture software for our gamers.

First thing I thought I'd check out was the registration requirements; the first thing I noticed was that in essence it was a trial period of six months, it would appear that this company rents its programs rather than sell them, it also required that I create an account. I decided to forego these dubious pleasures and just try the program in trial mode.
Firstly I attempted to load a video; every time I did this it informed me that was an error as it was an invalid file name, on the third attempt the program crashed.
Undaunted, I decided to use the slideshow maker yet again it complained about the file name, I decided enough was enough and uninstalled it as every other program accepts these file names.

When problems of this nature occur it is often a combination of the program's characteristics and instability in the operating system, you can rarely blame the developer.

I do blame the developer they I think I'm stupid enough to rent a program unless the developer has to spend time and effort to keep it current, such as an anti-virus program, other than that I either buy it or it's free.

Regarding the following:

Question: Say What??

The install instructions state:

Does that mean that after you "register" for the VIP membership, the limitations on these 2 modules are deleted permanently or only for 6 months (Which, if that is the case, then this program IS NOT a full version giveaway so much as it is just an attempt to flog downloader with a 6 month trial version. (Please, please tell me that not what going on here!)

In a nutshell, we have no limitation for six months, which in itself is a... limitation :-))

After 6 months it will revert to free mode with watermarls, 10 minute
recording and 5 minute export.

Is the screen capture part of the program disabled after the 6 month licence is up? I've never seen a subscription based screen capture program before.

I'll stick to my old favorites that I purchased 10 years ago and upgraded once last year (Capture Wiz Pro, plus the Ashampoo free Snap 5, that tends to be given away free on various sites occasionally).
