Cool RingTone Maker is a windows desktop application allow you to make your own ringtones for cellphone or cut music to pieces.
I download and installed this the first day it was offered and convered a file to make sure it was working. Saw where it was re-offered bbut since my copy worked the first time, I didn't redownload and reinstall. Guess I should have since the original download and install now wants me to register and pay for the product. It only converts 50% of file otherwise. Not a very good way to offer their products is they aren't working properly.

I registered this on the day it was free and now, upon opening it again, it is asking me to register again. Without doing so, I can not use it properly. Going to have to uninstall.

This installed on both of my machines just fine, but as with last week's offering, the interface suffered from an annoying corrupt graphic on my Vista box although it was perfectly OK on the XP machine.
Note to developer:
Under Vista (fully patched), the graphic for the 'buy now' button still remains partially visible after registration. It appears that you've attempted to cover it with a graphic that matches the background, but which isn't large enough to completely obscure the button. Suggest you test this at different screen resolutions.

Downloaded and installed with no problem on XP SP2 and Vista. Tested a couple of WAV and OGG files (converted to MP3). Fast, easy to use. Thanks GAOTD. Thanks for reposting a working version of this software. After testing, I sent the link out to at least 50-60 friends.
Thanks again!

Just a hint for all those who can't register or having trouble doing it. Turn off any download accelerators you might be using when you try to register. No it doesn't work to just slow them down to min.
I have to turn mine OFF !
Downloading the program is not a problem, just registering.
Hope this helps.
This applies to registering anything from GAOTD I have downloaded so far using my dialup connection.

Thank you so much for this...I have been struggling to put Lame dll on after upgrading, and this solves the problem of converting aup and Wav to mp3.
It downloaded and set up real quickly, and easy to register too.
Thank you so much

#19 Pandine,
You do understand Brothersoft.com is just a file hosting service? They are not the developer of FormatFactory...
Brothersoft.com has a bad reputation because they have a very lenient upload policy so to speak.
If you don't trust Brothersoft.com there are plenty of mirrors to download FormatFactory.

I have to agree with Ashraf (#2 above) Format Factory does everything and more. The irony here is I only discovered FF because of the GOTD glitch installing Reezaa...Won't be downloading Reezaa again because FF is superior. Also check out
I also agree with Pandine (# 19 above) - That sites initials are BS. Apt.

Thankyou for redoing this.
I was sadden when I saw that the first one did not hold the regristration. I am very happy to see that you re did it.
and , btw the program works great. Just used it to change the way windows shuts down and logs on , I changed the mp3 of my favorite songs
to Wav, which is the windows formats for their sounds. And I used it to
change the game you all offered to change the songs being played.
and that was mp3 to ogg.
which this program did convert superb. Thanks again.
This is going to come in handy for sure.

I still have Reeza 1.0 from GAOTD last year, and it has worked flawlessly in converting to audio via a simple drag and drop (a convenience which, alas, you do not receive with Format Factory). Highly recommended !
It is not clear what functionality the version offered today has over version 1.0 previously offered here. Does anyone have insight into what added functionality one gets with the new version?
In fact, going to the ReezaMedia website, the newest Reeza version is 4.0, but apparently (since the stated download size is 3.26 mb), what is being offered today is version 2.0.
Won't download and install version 2 unless I am certain there is increased functionality.
Thanks...

I have Vista also and I've tried over and over to install and register it. When it says it is successfully activated, a pop up shows up telling me to pay 29.95 for some program, and when I add files and hit convert, when it says it is donw there are 0 bytes. Go figure. This has not been fun.

Appropos #19: not sure why the brothersoft site is alleged to be so vulnerable to dodgy DL links -- I've never had any problems in the past with brothersoft, yet the safeweb review column is pretty much stuffed full with adverse comments.
Then again though, it is the Internet after all, a place where echoing me-too comments are exactly that: anonymous plonkers feeding their own egos by repeating stuff they've already read.
Ashraf's link at #2 isn't to brothersoft anyway, and his reviews actually prioritise the publisher's own link anyway:
http://www.formatoz.com/
I've DL'd 1.70 and, last week, v1.80 and can categorically state there was nothing wrong with either download.
As far as today's GOTD is concerned, it worked fine for me on its original outing despite the reported earlier registration problems and it certainly has a smaller footprint than Format Factory.
On balance though, the freeware FF's upgrade ability (as per this latest 1.80 version) and the fact that, unlike today's commercial software, it isn't going to be 'lost' to its user at any time in the future, coupled with great ease-of-use and even greater flexibility means I've gone back to FF.
Both apps are definitely worth trying out though, side by side.

I installed and converted two audio and one video files with this program,it was faster and worked better than some others I have worked with. Also its easy to set your output format, and the Output folder is easy to find and hard to miss.

#2 ABOVE gave a Link to Format Factory.....watch what you downl;oad folks! There is Hackware on the publishers download link. See this page http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=brothersoft.com for a review..
Viruses sometimes appear in these off-site links...be careful

Register / Enter the license key by clicking on Buy Now. A window will pop up to enter the Serial Code. Ignore the browser window that opens a epayment website to purchase the software.
However in principal it works to enter the license key, but after restarting the software it remain 'unregistered'. Even after repeating entering the license key.

Sadly this software did not deliver as promised. It claims it can turn video files into mp3 files and even goes as far as to say that it can turn a youtube .flv file into mp3 but it wouldn't convert the files that I had and it would just create a 0 byte mp3 then say it was done converting. I'm sad that it couldn't/wouldn't do what it said it could...

I like how the Softpedia link on Reezaas site shows a five star Editors choice banner, but when you actually look up the review on Softpedia they were only awarded 3 stars...
Thanks GOTD for the re-run - I missed it last week.

Does it convert DRM encoded files?

Try eRightSoft\SUPER. This converts just about every audio and video file. Just my two cents.

How do you register? I'm looking for the readme file that it mentions, but can't find.

Does not seem to convert m4p files. Any suggestions for that?

Dear Sirs,
The mp3 converter was givien free on 9.4.2009 but many couldnot instal the software due to some hassles, now thanks to GOTD for again rerun the same without hitches. Thank u!

Oh, and for those wanting to do it from the command line, or wanting to extract audio losslessly from video (that is, without additional losses beyond the compression that was used when putting it into the video), use ffmpeg directly at the commandline:
ffmpeg -i video.flv -acodec copy newAudioFile.mp3
That will attempt to merely extract the exact audio data, rather than decoding and re-encoding it.

For those who miss today's GOTD or want to use free software, WinFF is small, simple, totally free and open source, and just plain works. It's no-BS software. If this is the same converter as last week, then it's just a front-end for ffmpeg, as is WinFF, and they have the same capabilities.
WinFF also does not suffer from the maladies listed by the SoftPedia review.

Installed, Registered correctly.
Worked on three test files (1 .avi, 1 .wma, 1.mp3) to wma and mp3.
I'm happy with this.

it's picty that this mp3 converter can’t convert flac to mp3. I downloaded and actived it on my windows vista, after I load flac audio file into it, it freezed. I’d like to recommend zamzar.com to you, it’s an free online converter that can convert any file including flac to mp3.

I wrote up a review last week on April 9th when Reezaa's was given out. For anyone that missed it:
The Good
* Simple and straightforward.
* Can rip audio from AVI, WMV, MOV, 3GP, MP4, FLV, RM, RMVB, VOB, DAT, MPEG, WAV, WMA, ASF, and RA formats.
* Supports batch processing.
* Can output as MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, FLAC, AC3, AAC, AMR, and MPG sound files.
* You can change kbps, hz, and audio channel of output file.
* You can crop/trim the audio file.
* Supports drag + drop.
The Bad
* Trying to rip the audio from a video file into an MPG output does not work properly.
* By default it is set to install directly into the root directory (C:/) instead of under Program Files.
* When cropping/trimming you don't get to preview the sound while you trim/crop; you must do it via timings.
* No "Shutdown after converting is done" feature.
* You can't choose your output file name.
* If files are of the same name/type in the output folder, the earlier file will get overwritten without prompt.
* Does not support OGG inputs.

Wasn't this giveaway also last week? I hope it will register better, because that one converts only 50% because it din't register correctly.
Thanks anyway =)
