I made the mistake of purchasing the "FULL" version. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! If you listen to a "station" that plays full, live-recorded shows, that are listed by date and title, the program writes over everything except the last song! I have tried both v"Save this Song" and continuous recording, and BOTH overwrite everything but the last song, i.e. GD 12-15-93 Corrina will be overwritten by GD 12-15-93 Wharf Rat. Unless they fix this, save your money!!! I have 3 emails to them so far and (Surprise?) no reply yet. This is the first time I have ever had a package from GAOTD that was unsatisfactory! IF I get bany help, I will be sure to repost. By the way, don't even bother going to their "HELP" page, it is just a sales promo, no Help info at all. Maybe this is a Beta version?

Stick to InPaint. Your radio program is terrible - no search, no way to categorize, loaded with dead links, etc etc -- there are 1001 totally free web radio solutions that do a much better job. As freeware it would be too crude and marginal to deal with - much less something you're expecting to get $25 for. Go back to the drawing board.

Tested on Windows XP3 and Vista. Small download, easy installation, easy activation, no hidden add-ons like Internet Explorer bars, advertisements, etc. - what more can you ask for? Too bad it doesn't have a Favorites feature but an excellent program nonetheless. I'm not sure if I'd pay $24.95 for it since there are other free or cheaper alternatives but I like it's capability to record and show album art of the song that's playing - big pluses that some of the other programs don't have. A definite keeper for me. I think I can finally cancel my XM subscription. Thanks Radiozilla and Give Away of the Day.

I like this program. Simple interface, easy to use, I was able to find a station I liked in seconds just by browsing by genre. :-)
It looks like everybody that posts a positive comment gets bashed for it, but for my simple needs and tastes, this is a nice program. Absolutely no problem installing, running, and using it on Vista Home Premium 32 on my desktop. Listening to WCIC as I write this.. sound is great.
#48: Yeah, I have had that happen several times, the comment just vanishes after I've written something detailed. Suggestion: If you have a long-ish one to write, put it in Notepad first, then copy/paste it into this box.
Thanks, TeoreX, for another good program I was not aware of.

#56 Someone above reported the same thing as did I. "Have you tried turning it off and on again." I did and it works. Press options and save the songs to a folder you choose. If you press the record button, it records everything. It doesn't just stop at the song you want. Hopefully future versions will have more options. This does as it says.

This program is good, but it is worse then Audials Radiotracker 8 that has been given away 4th July. Radiozilla hasn't got searching radio stations by name, country or bitrate. But it has a good songs recorder that shows title of song we're actually listening to.

@Zenwan,
Yes - same issue.
Developer has put some time into aggregating radio channels, but other hassles include:
1. The 'stop ' button greys out intermittently and the only option is to close the app. Sometimes even this doesn't work, so task mgr is only option to terminate . . .
2. Absolute bare bones options - deficiencies are well documented in preceding comments.
3. Our admin was not at all happy with a separate 'activate.exe' file. What does it record or do? They rolled my machine settings back to wipe everything out. Phew.
RadioSure is great.

I systematically put thumbs down in applications like this one if not portable or not having a portable add-in. This type of sofware is mainly (although not exclusively) to leave it with you in a pen drive, USB device or memory card. In my opinion, even all software developers advertising throughout GOTD should make their applications portable (whenever the type of software allows it) in order to easily test the software without overloading registry file and making it dirty.

Reply to #50, I use Radio Player (Part of Elf 1.13 Community Toolbar) and I can do a keyword search with the words "India" or "Hindi" and come up with many stations. I don't know if any or all of the stations listed are actually broadcasting on the net or give 24 hour coverage. Once I did try a different player (forgot name) and they had an international list of stations by country; I found one broadcasting from Manila, The Philippines. Note: when loading the Elf toolbar, I deselected everything except Radio Player.

"Of course it won’t do any good today for all the effort lost, but that sort of thing happens just often enough that many of us will not click Submit until we’ve selected & copied everything we’ve written. "
Thanks for the tip. I normally do exactly that, but on this particular occasion I forgot. The intro was merely an explanation. I was far more annoyed with myself than the browser glitch.

@ 50 Naseem, you asked:
"can i know i can get any indian channels ? Ex – Hindi, tamil, telugu, malayalam…"
Please forget about RadioZilla. I suggest getting TapinRadio, which is free:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Internet-Radio-TV-Player/TapinRadio-Portable.shtml
TapinRadio has 39 Indian stations pre-installed. It also lets you add new stations. Have a look here for URLs:

Very good. Lots of stations to choose from and records well. My only complaint is that there is nothing to indicate that recording is taking place and where it is saving recordings to. Finally found my test recordings in music\radiozilla\.

#50: "can i know i can get any indian channels ? Ex – Hindi, tamil, telugu, malayalam…"
There is no Indian category [Asian, African, & Turkish under "World"], but several lumped together under Misc are poorly defined, if at all [e.g. one is named "/"], so maybe one or two, maybe none?

1st off confirming comment #8, testing in 2 VMs & a regular win7 64 install RadioZilla was broken -- each new song saved or auto-saved overwrote, deleted the prior song. Restarting the app, changing the Save To folder, nothing fixed it. The trial offered on the app's site is identical.
That said, in case a release later today or in the future fixes this obvious bug... RadioZilla is a 8 MB, single file app with a *hard wired* selection of internet radio station/feeds. It basically saves that stream as an mp3, may or may not display cover art while the song's live, & has a play/stop button for listening. You can save a song manually, clicking the disk icon, or save every song by clicking the red circle button. Options amount to selecting the folder where you want music saved. That's it -- it's much easier to list what it does than all the things it doesn't, i.e. the features that are missing.
Installation adds the programs folder with the program file + 2 for uninstall, & in the registry you get 1 new uninstall key & 1 for the app itself.

Running Windows Vista Premium
Download install and registration went smooth with no problems.
I have installed Radiozilla on a portable hard drive and the program runs fine from there. Radiozilla is just your basic Streaming Radio and recording program. You get a list of music Genres and below that a list of Radio stations that comply with the style of music you have pick.
The list of radio stations appear in no particular order and there is no save functions for favorites.
Under edit in the main menu you have 4 options available, OPTIONS, PLAY/STOP, AUTO RECORD, SAVE CURRENT SONG.
The program brings up cover art when available but with no options to save it. Files are saved in MP3 Format at 128kpbs.
With no Real help file available built into the program it's self and when clicking on help you are brought to the sales page the learning curve I would rate as easy with the exception of recording as I Tried the option available to save the music and the program would just keep rewriting over the same file even though I tried both options to record the music. Auto Record and Save Current Song.
I also changed the permission to Administrator and thought this would help but still got the same result, the same file being recorded over and the program not giving me separate songs as claimed on the sales page.
"RadioZilla can automatically saves every new track in a separate file with the corresponding file name or it can saves only favorite songs, just click save button while listening to a track you can get it full even if you have started recording from the middle."
I also changed the default folder of User/Music/Radiozilla to User/Music thinking it would transfer the file to the new folder then start recording again in the default folder but again it just record over the file in the new folder. I also left the default of don't save songs less than 30 secs yet I would still get songs saved with 18 secs in length and such.
As Far as a simple plain Radio Streaming program it seems to work fine but I think it needs some more polishing and testing with lots of room for improvement.
The Price of $24.95 is a little to High for just a plain Radio streaming program with no Help and some what iffy recording procedures in my opinion.
I give today's giveaway a thumbs down based on no real help file and a tough time recording the songs.
I think if you put the time and effort into this program as you did in In paint you would have another program that really Rocks!
Thank you GOTD and Teorex for Today's download.

@ #10: Yeah, of course you did: installed and ran this after activating. And thus concluded: 'Fine software. Work very nice.' Any other fictions you'd like to pen whilst wasting everyone's time?
As to this "fine softweare", it's almost impossible to place it in any category. Apart from "try on". Because it is. The entire app, the price: it's one big try-on.
The GUI's drab, the playback stuttering and erratic, pointless 'Help' section, and user controllability: zilch. How the hell anyone can foist something as dire as this onto the marketplace escapes me.
And so does the 'product'. Thanks GOTD, but no thanks: as Julia wrote at #48, someone's havin' a larf, aren't they? $24.95sworth of laughter, to be precise.

So far I counted 8 different programs to listen to streaming Internet Radio stations.....aaaah the beauty of capitalism. Radiozilla is going down the drain for not acknowledging that the competition is way better. I for one use for the last 4 years "Iceberg Radio" but with already set music channels - including international - and no commercial advertising at all. The selection offered is just mind boggling.
Cheers!

I wrote quite a long review/comment a few hours ago, then I hit submit and it simply disappeared. No error message, nothing. I was so miffed that I didn't try to rewrite it, and I won't do so now. Here is a shorthand version. I apologise for writing in bullet-point on this occasion.
Radiozilla is a dismally poor effort. No search, no user controls, no input, no info, low quality audio, primitive interface. A program like this needs a decent UI and UX. The price is just silly. They're havin' a larf!
I recommend the following free radio sites & software. Most of them don't record music but my interest is in finding excellent new music with ease and enjoyment, not in recording it.
AccuRadio - 5 stars, exceptional, customisable, do check it out.
DAR.fm - useful online recording project.
RadioSure, Screamer Radio, TapinRadio, TinyWebRadio - great little apps especially the first one.
Icecast built-in presets in Quintessential Player - a nice way to enjoy radio.

The program could use a couple of improvements such as listing radio stations in alphabetical order, and no break in the music when you resize the the window. Other than that I like the program overall and will keep it. :)

RadioSure is free and 10 times better in any respect.
Save | Cancel
yes, it does work but it has a couple quirks probably already mentioned:
1) No way of searching for a specific station
2) #1 is exacerbated by the fact the station listings are random and not alphabetical nor does it appear there is any way of changing this
3) So called help merely escorts users back to a really spartan website with no help
So, while it does work I just can't see the $ value until it's polished a little bit.

No problem adding this application. Easy to use, no hassle and recommend to anyone.
I would add the ability to save my favorite stations. In addition to separating music by type, I would also separate by language. Program would be unique and helpful if in addition to record, it also stereo capability and had mp3 clipping, fade and playback.

Could use a simple volume control. Sometimes when you want to listen

Good: EZ install. EZ to use interface. Good selection of music. Nice that the song title is displayed as well as the artist and album name.
Not so good: Every time computer uses resources while playing (ie: for other applications, tabs, downloading emails, etc.) there is a break in the music playback. Would be a little better if a cache was possible like sirius radio uses.
Overall rating for me out of 10 (best) would be an 8.
Thanks Giveawayoftheday!

In relation to other options the current version of Radiozilla is very plain, limited in function and lacking in opportunities for customisation or even to make full use of what it can do.
The limited range of stations, the difficulty of playing a particular station and the lack of what ought to be basic features (volume control, favourites, search etc) undermine what it does manage to do.
Whilst memory usage in operation is a little more than streamWriter it is generally less than half that of RadioSure (for those who worry about such things) but I'm currently listening to the final day of the first test on RadioSure (Took 8 seconds to locate), not having been able to find BBC Radio 5 on StreamWriter and not being even able to search for it with RadioZilla. I know which I'll be keeping.
Given the above, the price of today's offering is laughable. Let's hope that the GOTD process results in a better next version.
And Dravid's gone....

Half of you seem to be saying this program is terrible and do not touch with a Bargepole, the remainder think it is wonderful.
Which is it? Good or not?
Anyone able to compare with other GOTD offerings, such as Audials 8.
I have the impression this program lacks some basic functions and better freeware is suggested above.

all in all... small and fast... I like it
great for saving a song heard / liked... to listen to a few more times for deciding to buy or not... but not all stations provide the artist and song name / title
if artist and song don't appear on the station display... the saved file name is simply useless gibberish ...

Radio Zilla could do with a few improvments.
1. It would be nice to have the list of radio staions in an alphabetical list, this would make it easier to find your favourite station.
2. It would also be nice to be able to add your favourite online radio stations to the liste = BBC world radio . http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/
It doesn't activate in activate folder
thumbs down for the lack of access codes.

That was a quick test. Sort of like trying to find a particular station on a portable multi-band global radio receiver... while blindfolded. I see now that Peter beat me to pointing out this shortcoming.
The "HELP" is no help. You're sent on-line to a single static wysiwyg image of the primitive cumbersome radio as it appears on your desktop. Despite a claim that "we have the Online Radio Tuner" I saw no such "tuner" (i.e., no scrolling digital tuner), no searchable index, just a totally disordered GLOBAL list that apparently can't even limit search by GPS, other earthly boundary systems or even station call signs.
THERE IS NO VOLUME CONTROL!?! (sorry to shout, the bloody thing nearly blew my speakers)
I like Teorex' InPaint despite it's primitive GUI, but this I rate worse than FAIL.
