Joining printed pages with existing pdf don´t work - some module error is reported. Pitty - I installed NovaPDF just for this feature, I often need to connect multiple prints into one pdf and do it via other sw or web service (combining individual pdf´s into one) means a few additional steps. Bug or feature? Probably bug, as in the list of differences between versions this was not mentioned.

I'm curious why so many people are asking how it is better than the MS Print to PDF, rather than trying it and seeing for themselves? It's not an attack. I just don't understand why someone on the mailing list for free software wouldn't just try it and see for themselves

Rick_S, too much unnecessary programs slow a computer down.

I have an older version of Windows which doesn't have this functionality built in, but I would think twice before installing it because it is an 84MB program! MY PDF printer is in a suite which works quite well and is altogether only 5MB.

Rick_S, Agree. I wonder what sort of idiot subscribes to the GOTD service and then makes a comment without even trying the software! GOTD should block them from future access!! I have installed this software and am amazed at the features that are built in and will both keep using it and recommend it to others who may have a need for this.

What are the advantages of this over the built in pdf converter in windows 10?

The windows version is just a simple control + P then choosing the print as pdf from any program.

raj,

Just save this...

Why ? Microsoft has built in a pdf printer that works great. Just go to "print" in any program and select Microsoft Print To PDF as the printer.

Harry Mangurian,

Print to PDF works great if all you're interested in is printing to a set of standard page sizes, with unspecified image compression, no ability to customize output, no profiles, etc. If you need to customize, then you need this or one of its competitors. They are as different from Print to PDF as the latest version of Microsoft Word is to Google Docs, maybe moreso. (And you can still just print to PDF.)

David, thank you, your patience to explain details to ones who have no idea and think all it takes at all times is just to say "computer... Print for me", is appreciated.

David, I just wanted to point out that the layout of the PDF when using Microsoft Print to PDF is determined by the program BEFORE you get to the print dialog. That's where any customization of output is done, not in the virtual printer driver Microsoft Print to PDF (or other similar).

How does this compare to the PDF-Printer build into Windows 10/11 (Microsoft Print to PDF)?

I see that this converts document files to pdf. Does this also include images like jpeg?

Reply   |   Comment by Mike  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+14)

Mike , it is a virtual printer. Anything printable (including images in appropriate sw) isconverted into pdf.

How is this any better than the built-in Microsoft Print to PDF?
