Hello "Brother Tony" (#20)

Thank you for your post. If the transition time is not adjustable and the output can not be saved as an .avi, I'll pass on this one. As for your humor, please be advised that I was laughing to hard that I woke up my wife. Now, what do I do?

spyware is not what i want. though a promising program, it should be offerred on a spyware website, not gaotd.
do like the idea of morphing photos, so saving as gif is necessary as gif is the only format that shows the actual morphing sequencing because the gif format is for animations, whether as a moving smiley,or a morphing photo. gif is not a video format, but a photo format for moving from frame to frame.

Today's Giveaway looks really cool but I do think it's a shame that the developer lowered themselves to bundling malware with it. While it's true that you are given the choice to not install it, the installer also is designed so that the fact that these two programs are malware/adware/spyware, is not mentioned, the default is for accepting them, and the developer tries to make the identities of these two malware as inconspicuous as possible so that they look like part of the main program install process. I think it's unethical and WRONG to be including adware/spyware/malware/keyloggers in a paid program whose purpose is totally unrelated!

Just a few of many malware database reports on premium opinion and smart shopper...

(the report at the below link also identifies Premier Opinion as a keylogger)

Well I'm #72 with some real good input before me. I'm new to GOTD and am impressed with the level of the "conversation" and help. Thanks for the comments. I'm going to pass on this morph program as I'm not in favor of "spyware" of any kind. Putting choices in the EULA is so much better than dumping on us, but still I'm not comfortable supporting a company that uses these methods and tools in any form. Gee, I guess I just limited my internet experience to... my web site and ??? WOW it's getting nasty out there in the wild web.

Looking forward to tomorrow offering. Thanks GOTD for the service and thanks for all the comments!

Ok folks, I do believe I've figured out why some of us were having issues with Registration. I was reading back over the "minimum requirements and saw the "Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer" and realized that I have Firefox as my default browser on both my desktop and laptop computers. So, what I did on my laptop(just as a passing thought) was made IE 7 the default, and the registration went through fine. Make sure that IE is the default browser, at least while installing it, and then you can make which ever browser your default again after you install. I again say, this is a great program, much fun.

@#53 If you read my comment as good as you read up on "Spyware" you'd notice that I never used the word "Probably" in context with "Spyware" but in conjunction with the term “Probably a suspicious variant is ridicules".

Once again this isn't Spyware but you can opt in for it to become "Surveyware". Spyware won't let you know it's there which this programs install does.

I tried it out and any pre-editing of the pictures like cropping to make it align with the other or changing/removing background, etc. has to be done in another program. The only thing this one does is morph. It is an animated morph. It doesn't seem to work in Corel Draw when I copied it. I had hoped to copy the still picture, but you can't do that. To get a result of the mixed picture, It appears you have to do a screen/area capture and save it.

This program should be offered FREE anyway. Aside from the attempt to get you to load two adware programs, the program itself is very minimal. when I tried to use an item on the menu it said it wasn't available and urged you to buy pro version. That isn't something a paid for program should do. If anything an upgrade offer in the help menu is all they should place, not crippled menu items. Basically this is CRIPPLEWARE.

The software is fine but I don't like the backdoor tactics with the spyware and the limited use. Because the limited use is so restrictive, it is only good for playing with so should have been put out as a trial - not a giveaway. If it is a lite version, say so - don't pretend it is more then bombard me with messages asking if I want to upgrade. I would have thought the purpose of GAOTD, for a developer, was to get good reviews to use for further promotion and to build a customer base who will want to purchase a similar product from the suite or the next upgrade - not immediate sales! Very short sighted Morpheus and a good way to ensure I won't bother looking at your other products. The thumbs down is for your businmess tactics - not the product.

If #58, TK is true and honest, then I am very disappointed with today's GAOTD. I had the previous trial copy which had since expired. Was waiting for such software to be offered so I can have some morphing fun again. Now, I am scared stiff and disappointed as it limits the functions. Such a deceit today. Sad.

If it helps at all, Morpheus has a history of including *marketing add-ons* with their downloadable software, so this isn't something special added for GOTD -- it's just the normal way the company works. According to an interview a couple of years ago, the original developer wrote free morphing software while in school in the late 90s, teamed up with a marketing pro, & the share-ware company was formed, focusing on entertainment software.

Alternatives include the free WinMorph by Debugmode, with more of a video slant -- it also works as a plug-in for NLE software, & includes a copy of the free WAX NLE -- the already mentioned SqirlzMorph, & programs developed by Stoik, which released one of the 1st morphing apps for the casual, home user years ago.

Besides just having fun with images, morphing itself can be used for animation (creating the *tween* frames between 2 images), for video special FX, & maybe most commonly, as one of the ways to transition from one video scene to another.

If I have a chance I'll try & give more info on the program itself, when/if the developers' site comes back up.

A free and easy morphing program I have used in the past is Meesoft Smartmorph, which can be downloaded here:
http://www.download.com/SmartMorph/3000-2192_4-10264587.html
They have since affiliated and released Popims Animator, freeware which I have not tried, but the original Smartmorph can still be downloaded from the above link and most likely various other download sites.

I won't even bother with Morpheus based on the comments, I have no use for shareware that offer to install spyware, toolbars, etc. Whether the program is "free" or not in today's giveaway is a moot point, it is still shareware and does not need to bundle these applications to make a profit. And the fact that several comments complain about the giveaway being a crippled version of the regular software makes it apparent that Morpheus is trying to pull a bait and switch on GOTD users.

My previous posts have been "removed". I downloaded this program(earlier version) last year, it's a great program. When I installed it last year, there were no "additional" components that were installed. I tried to install it on my laptop on this go around. I did opt out of the other software it wanted to install. However when I try to activate, it won't activate. On my laptop I do not have antivirus(it's an older laptop with limited processor power and some what limited ram) or a firewall program. I also get the Activation problem.

Photo Morpher installed and activated without problems on my VHPx64 but with all due respect the offer is a cheat.

It claims to be "available for $29.95..." Untrue. That's the standard version, this is the lite, which is the same as the trial, which is free anyway (I looked at both). Lots of features are only available if you upgrade to standard or pro.

To get the standard you have to pay $29.95 less a $9.95 upgrade discount. So, far from being free for today, the standard will cost you $20 whether you take it today or whenever.

GAOTD should look at this again.

Ok. These comments are full of warnings about the spy-ware. There are multiple posts about this being the Lite version and not of much use. Personally, I don't give a frog's fart about being able to "opt out" - who knows what they -are- installing that they aren't telling you about?
Today's offering has been mis-represented and contains multiple pieces of spy-ware. So, why has nobody asked the question:WTF GOTD?!?Just so I am understood - I LOVE GOTD. I come here EVERY DAY. Rain or shine, good times or bad - it's like a combination birthday present and scratch-ticket. Every day is a surprise - some are winners and some aren't. ...but I appreciate what GOTD is doing and I love that I can trust them to protect me (us).
...but not today.GOTD - Thank you, THANK YOU for everything that you have done and still do. Please continue to maintain your high and unyielding standards that have allowed you to build your user base. We love you because we know we can count on you. "Opt out" doesn't count and liars are beneath you. YOU are better than that.

In response to post #28, any Sqirlz software (*and I use lots of graphics/plugins)has caused problems when installed on my puter. Lots of adware, and Squirlz reflect, there was trojans. So I would be careful of thier software.

Aside from having to the buttons below the additional tou agreements, which should always be read anyway (you have no right to complain if you're too lazy to read what you're agreeing to in the first place)this is a very nice, easy to use software. It does exactly what it says it does, and does it well. In 5 minutes I was able to make a realistic morph, and I've never morphed before. Great stuff. Thanks GAOTD people.

I have seen this program many years ago and it had crippled functions back then unless you buy it why would anybody even consider buying it since they never really got to save there projects to see what the output quality is? Give out a fully functioning software with a time limit of it's use instead of crippling the saved output formats.As for the spyware attempt to install that's just plain bad for the developer because many people will not even attempt to install it due that crapware! that is included. Since it has that crapware in it i will not be downloading this program at all!. And i could not open the link here to the developers website, it just failed to load but maybe because spybot search and destroy has blocked it. A big Thumbs down because it's crippled software and contains Crapware in it's installer.

Do not trust peole who say this isn't spyware, as Rick says, NEVER install anything that urges you to "temporarily" disable anti-virus or firewalls, you've got them for a reason and the reason is that there are a lot of legal looking scammers out there that you DO not trust.
If you do this anyway I got a bridge to sell you for about 50.000 where you'll be able to get 500.000 in toll withion six months.

First of all if a program asks you to join a survey or help you with online shopping and gives you the option to opt out it isn't "Spyware". Of course it will save the output file as a gif. image, how else will you see the changes? I find the program easy to use, and the morphing end product down right funny. I use it to morph pictures of my children from when they were 4 years old to the present and you can see how much they've changed.

So don't fear the "Spyware" which it isn't, and enjoy a truly great program. Thanks GOTD.

#4 I have great security and I installed without and warnings of any kind. To say something is "Probably" a suspicious variant is ridicules.

OK, from the horses mouth itself (decompiling the actual application) this supplied "lite" version offered is only worth $9.95, not the $29.95 as advertised.

"price_lit"="9.95"
"price_std"="29.95"
"price_pro"="59.95"
"price_ind"="99.95"

This alone is enough to have this company BARRED from using this site again and the bundled spyware is totally unacceptable as this isn't just Yahoo toolbar we are talking about here.

Inside the "installer" were the following files:

comscore-po-eula.rtf
zango-eula.rtf
POInstall.exe
smartshopper.exe
Morpheus.exe <- (this is the actual standalone application)
plus a bunch of "help" documentation.

SCORE: 1/10

Installed this software fine on win Vista-32bit but installer contained a lot of spyware !
Which is insane considering this is supposed to be a paid software give free for the day. This is also not the full version as if might seem. upon loading, i loaded some of the sample files & it says that some features are no available in this version and and will be omitted. Considering the bombardment of spyware & adware this is ridiculous !

Thanks to Giveaway of the Day! Another cool program. I have had problems in the past with some programs, but I have to give thanks to the Giveaway of the Day crew for GIVING us all the FREE programs.
As for the "spyware"... Usually when you get spyware the companies are sneaky about it. But here they give you an option to opt out at installation. I too was hoping for the full standard program but will be quite happy with another great FREE program from this; one of my favorite sites. Think of the "spyware" programs as an attempt at product placement. Much like seeing a Coke machine or an American Express ad in a movie. I am just happy a site like this gives us something for FREE. In this economy FREE is great!
Thanks again!

Perfoms okay as a very basic version (many options are greyed out as this is actually a "lite" licence and not the "standard" as what is actually advertised priced for $29.95.

There are some common free ware photo morphers like "http://www.xiberpix.net/SqirlzMorph.html" which is a superb little piece of Free ware.

They seem to have paid much more attention to gloated special effects on startup, their own shameless self-promotion with the wallpaper made up of their logos and "live server" activation which failed to connect the first 3 times I tried than they have to actually make the application any better.

The fact the install is bundled with "Install Smart shopper" and "Premier Option" spyware which while you are able to opt-out of this, it's "ticked by default" and is absolutely disgusting to offer this as a true Giveaway of the day.
It also technically breaches the disclaimer: "Giveaway of the day is adware/spyware-free" and is almost enough to send me running, if we get another one of these instances, I'll blog about it as a warning and let google crawl it and never return.

"Smartshopper" is Zango, known and HATED spyware.

"Premier Option" is Comscore, another very well known and intrusive piece of spyware or "researchware"

VERDICT:
AVOID this software, big thumbs down. It had serious limitations to the options you can select and it simply does not offer a good enough carrot to take on all the other hijacks it attempts to install and it's horrible self promotion and online server registration.
