Well I installed without to much trouble had to ask for working key which was sent. I then tried to play several videos using this product and failed everyone of them.
Nothing happened it just kept spinning that little circle in program interface. I tried different videos including avi and mkv none of which worked. Said it was connected to my tv but nothing showed up.
I then tried a utube video which did same as other videos. I have other players that connect and play instantly so this one will be uninstalled. I like trying different programs to see which shows best picture this one remained blank lol.
Sorry GOTD this one is a flop but I do appreciate all the great stuff you do offer us everyday so no complaints on this end other than this program is complete;y useless !!

There are basically 3 ways to get content from the screen of a Windows device on a TV -- hard wired, i.e. using an HDMI cable; screen mirroring, which like the HDMI solution shows the entire screen; and casting, which shows -- streams -- just the media, e.g. video, which seems the more rare, & what the Modam Player talks about above. You can also simply provide the media files over your network, with the same effect as if you plugged in a USB stick with the same file(s) into a player, e.g. some Rokus, some Blu-ray players, Android TV boxes etc.

The Modam Player, or alternatives like VLC or Plex, may be the better solution vs. using Miracast, which isn't always available, & may not work when it is. Miracast uses a WiFi direct connection, isn't supported or available on all WiFi adapters, & since it skips your router, so you can't just use a wired Ethernet connection, which otherwise is better. It's also reported that Miracast won't work if you've got VM software installed, e.g. VirtualBox.

That said, while there are certainly lots of Chromecast dongles & compatible TVs out there, I think Roku has the edge, & there's a Plex app in the Roku store.

Downloaded, installed and received the license, no problems. Problem is the program crashes. Now, to be fair I am using pre-release Win10 so it is likely a problem with the OS, rather then the program.

Installation and registration without problems.Recogize automatically my chromecast device.I played 2 videos without problems.the second placed itself under the first creating a list but it not remains after reopen the program.I think that the greatest disadvantage is that it is not support subtitles. Also there is no support for online videos audio files and DLNA devices. Also i notice that after i close the program my chromecast remains connected so i had to disconnect it myself. It"s a usefull program because it is simple but if i want more i "ll use VCL player or soda player.

Why do we need this? PCs and laptops have HDMI-out to connect to a TV, and almost every media player can play a wide variety of video formats.

starvinmarvin, if you don't bother connecting your machine to your TV by HDMI, you obviously don't need it. But for many other people like me, it DOES bother! Don't want to buy extra hdmi cable also!

starvinmarvin, draping thick HDMI cables around the house is not usually desirable or practical, and frequent plugging and unplugging of HDMI cables will eventually cause laptop mainboard failure.

This software is not even necessary for current devices!
What I mean is that miracasting (mirroring your computer display on the TV screen) is already built into Windows 10, and also all modern TVs.
We do that, and it works perfectly, without any dongles or extra software.

    Bruce,
I have a Smart TV, In my living room. Another, tv with chromecast in the bedroom. When I go to sleep, and try to microcast to the chromecast, it works. Only problem, is I want to go to sleep, and not keep the computer (device) running all night. So, as soon as I turn off the Smart TV(livingRoom) That's it out it goes. Where as with a smart phone, you can turn it off, and the video will still play. Fall a sleep, nothing to turn off.

Hi David, in order to work,
the software needs to open a windows port for streaming to your device.
can you validate if a firewall exception was added to the port 22114, exception named 'ModamPlayer'
Also, the software doesn't play well if you're using a proxy.

For the next version, we will put more validations and outputs to help users make it work easily.

    Platform: Windows 10 x64 - up-to-date.
The program does not allow to change install folder - after installing, the primary executable is missing: "C:\Program Files\Modam Player\ModamPlayer.exe"

Receiving 'Access Denied' upon initial launch - yes, I am a local administrator...
Looks like you need a portable version of this application - and a bit more testing before release...

After the introduction of the email and a copy/paste of the license, the OK button remains grayed out and a message indicating to introduce a valid key remains displayed.

Modam Player, well done for being responsive! Sorry for the delay responding I had to go to sleep eventually.
The x86 build installs fine under 32bit windows... and on running with firewall given permission to give this network access it finds my Panasonic DVB-T2 PVR DMR-HWT250 and sets it as a connected device. I can add various video files to a playlist and add new playlists. The gear button shows the DMR-HWT250 Model which it describes as HDD Recorder and its LAN private IP number.
The License that was provided right at the start of the giveaway before went bed was applied this evening when I got back to the laptop and it was accepted as valid without issue. On trying to play a video file to the connected device there was no apparent connection to the device. I do note that it did not find my "AllCast" compatible SmartTV but there was no promise of "AllCast" compatability.
Now comes the "duh" moment it is quite possible the inability to actually cast to the connected device may be down the the fact that the Version of 32bit Windows in use is Vista SP2 patched to latest Windows Server 2008 security updates and patched to see and use 8G of physical RAM and is using a WIRED LAN between laptop and router and SmartTV and HDD Recorder and router/switch so no fancy wifi protocols are available which is usually associated with media casting.

To add to the ToDo list I understand the 32bit build installer was put together in a bit of a rush so some allowance are to be made but when you do go into production with 32bit and 64bit installers remember that Microsoft Windows concention dictates that if 32bit applications are installed on a 64bit edition of windows it should default to installing the 32bit binaries into the System drive:/Program Files (x86)/subfolder

It would be an appretiated install time option to be able to select a different drive to install it to as well as often users on modern machines have a small but fast System SSD drive and a slower but much bigger capaicity secondary drive which could be a SATA HDD or SATA SSD and they will prefer to put user installed programs and databases etc onto the secondary drive.

I did try installing the 32bit build on a 64bit windows 10 laptop (which is how I spotted the installation location mistake for the 32bit binaries on a 64bit windows) but for some reason it was unable to see my Panasonic DVBT2 HDD Recorder like it could on Vista... But when I plug the Windows 10 laptop into the LAN via the Ethernet port it sees BOTH the AllCast SmartTV and the DMR-HWT250 device but still won't cast to either... Next to remove the 32bit installation from the 64bit Windows 10 laptop and trying the original 64bit build....

Tried using the original 64bit build I downloaded this morning and it installed ok as newer 32bit build installer was not offered a choice of installation location and the orignal build behaves the same on wifi when the casting renderers are on wired LAN and fails to see them but see's them if wifi is switched off and the laptop is wired to the LAN instead. That older build did not have the gear wheel button to show the connected devices details.

Neither the 32bit nor the 64bit builds were able to make the casting connection to play media to my two casting renderers even when the program did detect them and claim it was connected.
Both casting receivers are able receive from smart phones... whether it is an issue with my windows 10 device or my network infrastructure or my smartTV or HDD Recorder renderers or todays program I cannot tell. Sorry not to be more help.

TK, Replying to a reply comment to my comment. No idea who the poster was because the notification emails do not give that data...

Email notification said "TK, weird, VirusTotal.com details the installer as

    "File Type: Win32 EXE

Magic PE32 executable for MS Windows (GUI) Intel 80386 32-bit"
You can find more details by following this link:
    https://www.giveawayoftheday.com/modam-player-0-11-4/#comment-616003"

The answer is that the installer setup.exe which is what you likely submitted to virustotal.com is a 32-bit executable but inside were 64-bit executables. Which is how it managed to install the 64bit executables and DLL's on a 32bit system :) Now thanks to the developer and GAOTD team responsivness we are presented with a 32-bit installer with 32-bit executables inside or a 32-bit installer with 64-bit executables inside if the server side scripts in the download server can determine the bit width of the operating system the visitors browser is running under. But although it now has 32bit and 64bit builds with a couple of other changes I am still unable to get it to cast to any of the smart devices it detects in both win vista or win 10 1809
I am going to keep the 32 bit build though just because it has quite uptodate ffmpeg binaries which run under windows Vista where the default build of ffmpeg binaries supposedly does not support Vista any more so the Xmedia Recode developers claim anyway! This is a newer ffmpeg build than the kmcvt.exe hack of ffmpeg that was presented in yesterdays giveaway. Not that I often have a need to use the ffmpeg commandline tools but for a tech head like myself it is better to have a tool and not currently need it than to need a tool and not have it...
