It basically means that the license must be renewed every year or whatever the time frame is for the product you are using. Same principle as a drivers license, cellphone contract, a mortgage or rental lease for an apartment or virtually anything else that gives you a timeframe where you are allowed to use someone elses product or services before you have to renew the contract or agreement to continue using the product.

Paulee, basically, it means you can use it for 1 year. After this period, either you can't use it anymore, or the software turns itself into a free version, loosing several options, some you have never used anyway, but, some might be important for you.
