re:38 Thanks Adi, sussed it! never saw that in vers 6? If it was there, the default was full volume anyway...once set to full, it stays there for playback. I was fiddling around in the Device menu, without seeing the slider. Thanks for that!

Like the first comment said, this is not a regular offering. You cannot buy it on their website.

I had non trouble with the registration. Worked fine on my Yamaha keyboard. Fairly simple and useful.

On the down side, the product seems unfinished. Lots of error messages. For now, I'll stick with Frinika. A lot more complicated and much more powerful, still needs work, but its also free.

To activate the program: I have closed it first and then Left-clicked the "activate command". This was efficient. Dror

"Installed and ACTIVATED just fine on Windows 7 x2 (right-click
and Run As Administrator) and Windows XP. If in doubt, RTFM!

Comment by AG —"

This above advice was the ONLY way I could get the program to Register
on my PC (Vista 64). Before I took this advice, all I could get was
a 30-day Trial Copy (it said this at the very top).

I didn't even need to uninstall the earlier program -- just right-
clicked on the unzipped program itself and then clicked Run As
Administrator, (if I remember correctly) -- and now my copy says
Licensed to GiveawayOfTheDay AND the words "Trial Version" are
nowhere to be seen.

I hope this helps some of you, especially those who THINK their
program is registered but DIDN'T CHECK!

I installed on two laptops with on XP and Windows 7 and the same bug: if I play a demo song or something I edit I hear nothing. I tried different things to do and I realised that ALLWAYS the sound is audible ONLY if I touch and move a bit the cursor on Volume Control SW Synth (for XP). But at every new play is necessary to do this action. On contrary to XP I realised that on Windows 7, after a song play ends, always the cursor goes at minimum position and must be set up in order to hear something.

Can't go past configuration

"List index out of bounds (-1)" is the error I'm given when trying to config most of the elements in config. After some brief research on the websites, I've found this is a problem of looking/using something that doesn't exist.

Maybe its because in the bracket "input" I have nothing at all (in output I have "Microsoft Synth Machine GS WAVE".)

Followed directions in ReadMe file and installed and activated just fine. But the program keeps crashing with dozens of error windows piling up on top of one another. Will be uninstalling if it continues to do so.

For those who seem perturbed at folks who post their honest opinions of this program as compared to others ... this is, after all, a comments section meant for, ohhhhhhh I don't know ... perhaps comments?

For everyone saying to read the "read me" I have done so over and over. In fact, here it is:

"Unzip the package you`ve downloaded and install the software by running Setup.exe, then run the activation program Activate.exe which is included in the package to register your copy.

NB: if you are a Vista OS user you will probably need to run Setup.exe and Activate.exe in the name of administrator on the PC."

Notice it says setup THEN activate. Still doesn't work. Running 7. Opened as Admin. Nothing. Reinstalled "back word" (sic). Nothing.

Can someone give a definitive answer on how to register before the day is out? Please?

Having the same problem as several others... no serial numbers to enter in the registration boxes. Have followed the instructions, both original and amended. and still nothing, guess will have to wait out the 30 days trial time and see if it still works, glad I have not

55.For # 17 & # 35, you can add cords, see

http://www.musicaleditor.com/guitar-notation-software-virtual-guitar-deck.html

Guitar players will find the virtual guitar deck from MagicScore Maestro a useful tool for entering chords.
1. You have to select the duration for the notes you add.
2. Chords are entered in the specified location in the measure by clicking the desired guitar strings and frets.

I hope this helps you.

Please NOTE:

I appreciate your comment, but unfortunately that URL only allows users to download a demo of the maestro version.

For those users who are looking for a serial number. There isn't one.

These promotional programs may be full versions...but, let's remember they're free.

You cannot expect to get all you want in a free gift.

I look forward to the experience of surprise when I use software I otherwise might never have tried.

Some companies on this site offer full registration with numbers, and upgrades in the future. Some do not. I am thankful for that. We all should be grateful.

As a guitar player, it would have been nice to use the chord feature of the program. The maestro version sells for about $100.

Today's version doesn't.

To me, tofay's offer is nice to try.

As I stated earlier today, it's a tease (in my oppinion) because the chord portion of the software is excluded keeping players from writing full for guitar music. Let me ask, aren't there alot of guitar players out there that have downloaded this software today?

I am not able write the could with this feature included.

Thank you GOTD for the good hard work you do to offer us all this for free. I really do appreciated it.

Sincerely,

Noel Frascatore

Is there a limit on the number of times you can use this when properly activated? Someone told me you are limited to only 30 scores.

Installed and activated perfectly on Vista 32 bit. I set it to use my MIDI keyboard, so no audio problems here.

I will heed the warnings for volume if and when I use this with soundfonts.

Installed and activated ok for me WinXP Home SP3, ran setup first (as per the readme instructions, even though I've done it the opposite way before as well).
I didn't load the program though, after installing I ran the activate.exe THEN ran the program and it's registered to Giveawayoftheday.

I also have MagicScore School 6 from the last giveaway which I've had no problems with, luckily I didn't uninstall it.
(#20 Shaun, do a system restore to yesterday and you'll get MagicScore School 6 back)

I didn't get the sound at first either until reading the comments here and noticed the slider is set at 0 by default.

One problem I have, other than not being able to add chords,
(From the help file on Add Chords: "This feature is available only in the «Classic» and «Maestro» version." Same thing with MagicScore School 6) is when clicking on Service/Settings/Record/Play/Test I get this error over and over "List Index out of bounds (-1)" only stopped by pressing escape repeatedly, decent program otherwise as it still works the same as MagicScore School 6 (neither of them show a serial number but do show as registered to Giveawayoftheday)

#42 Joe, Ashraf doesn't work for GAOTD and just posted his testing results on the software given away whether you agreed with it or not, same with WhiteRabbit for the games section. They don't have to do that and could have just posted "thanks for the free stuff, bye".
I didn't like some reviews either which is why I just post if it installed/activated and any problems I had. To leave a free software site just because you don't like a review someone wrote makes no sense to me. Don't leave on my account though :D

Thanks to all those who do post their findings and reviews (otherwise I would have thought the midi sound didn't work)

Thanks to the GAOTD team and DG Software

This program locked up twice on my machine (oddly enough, when I tried to go to Help About to check on the registration). I'm running Windows XP sp3 on a fairly new Dell desktop, so I don't think the platform is at fault. Nice idea, but I was forced to uninstall it, and so it's back to the old pencil, pen, and score paper. Hey, if it was good enough for Bach and Beethoven...

Cont. on post 46
Sorry, it is on the other versions (see below).

Add notes with the virtual guitar;

(This feature is available only in the «Maestro» version).

Add chords

(This feature is available only in the «Classic» and «Maestro» version).

Tools for working with chords are located on the panel. Chords are added at the cursor position in the score.

@ Joe, #42: Great review of today's GOTD offering: as a musician, I'm delighted at the way you explored its capabilities in terms of notation, timing, staff, stave, chords etc. Your lengthy tirade against Ashraf, however, has all the signs of a poster who has wandered in from another place, a website with so manic an obsession with Ashraf's amiably helpful dot.tech as to be several notes short of a full score.

Anyway. Today's GOTD. Installed fine here on Vista 32 and works well as (a) a primer for specialised software of this type and (b) a taster for the more advanced kind of app that orchestrators need.

The developer's website is a veritable primer in itself (wow, what a change after yesterday's) and though comprehensive in its content is nevertheless easy and accessible.

Verdict: combine today's app, courtesy of the developer and GOTD, with the helpfulness of the developer's website and it's one of the best "packages" GOTD has ever facilitated.

Now then Joe @ #42 . . . just what was it you were saying for the benefit of prospective users of today's GOTD offer?

It's me #21 again. Seems like many people is looking for serial number to activate the software. Just follow the read me file instruction! It is back word, compare to regular activation process we are so used to by now; especially you are using Vista.

One tip of advice, when everything went well, but you here no sound at all, make sure to press the Volume bottom in Main setting when it run first time. Volume mixer has 3 choices, Speaker(device), Windows sound(Applications), and Main setting(Applications.)
By default it was set to lowest sound setting, so bring up the slide to your desire sound level and you'll hear the Jazz.

Since I'm not music wiz that is my advice to you there who cannot hear any sounds at all, out there.

It looks like a very promising music software. I wish I could hear some music created by users that created by this software. Is any one out there has done that already? Let us see your talent, and let us hear your music.

Sound problem (#20, 27, 32, 33, 36 ..) - thank you rob, #30, that was a big help! For XP - it seems that the 'Play' button in the black VCR-style controller beneath the menus resets the Windows mixer ('SW Synth') every time, even if you stop and then immediately restart in the same song.

Just to the right of this is the volume slider. Its default position is zero (mute) hence the problem. Keep an eye on this and move it back up again if needed e.g. on restarting the program, and the sound is fine.

Will this overwrite Music Score School 6? Do I need to uninstall Music Score School 6 before installing Music Score Note 7? Or can I run them side by side until I decide if I like Music Score Note 7? I would be most grateful for clarification about this before the end of the offer, since it sounds like a few folks are having difficulties with this new version but not the prior version. THANK YOU GAOTD and Music Score for offering this valuable program!

I'm not qualified to comment on how well MagicScore Note 7 does compared to alternative apps, but I did take a look at the software, in particular looking for clues on reported audio problems & registration questions... Running MagicScore Note 7 does change your audio settings in the registry. The changes I recorded using Regshot in XP Pro SP3 32 were related to mixer settings, BUT, these changes were for the wrong part of the wrong hardware as far as I can tell [I've got a creative sound card, an ATI graphics card with sound chip (required for HDMI), & the motherboard's audio chip, which is not used. The changes were for the motherboard's chip, & *looked like* they were to the wrong mixer settings for that chip too.] To be honest, I'm not sure why this app would change registry settings for your hardware to start with, & *if* it (sometimes?) picks the wrong settings to change, I imagine that could cause problems.

Recording changes to the registry from MagicScore Note 7, I noticed that my name & email address were included in the MagicScore registry key... since I hadn't filled them out anywhere I thought maybe there was something left behind from the earlier MagicScore app(s), & that could be causing registration problems, i.e. no key in the registration dialog. Well it turns out there wasn't (that I could find anyway), BUT, it also turns out the app copies your name, email address, & email server from the registry where Outlook Express stores it. Why?... could be [probably is] entirely innocent, but considering I can't think of a valid purpose, it's not something I feel good about.

I was messing around with this and when I hit the playback button to hear the random notes I have placed, and I don't hear anything. I open my volume mixer (on vista)and I see the play back turned all the way down. I raise the volume on that and I hear the last note, great. When I try again to hear it from the beginning the volume is all the way down again. anyone else have this problem or a fix maybe?

Nice design, layed out well, its not quite up to par. After playing with a few bars, figuring out the interface, I somehow clicked on the 'break the graphics engine' part of the program. Although it didn't crash, it just refused to redraw meanwhile obscuring the rest of my desktop in odd little blocks. I (oddly) was able to open a second copy and learn the keys for save and exit, but the broken copy refused all attempts. Ultimately alt-4 was the only option. Suggest you save often or get something else.

Greetings,

Have you experienced: "Why isn't the program registering?"

FIRST:
When you install this MagicScore Note 7, even though the following isnot found in the directions. Click on ACTIVATE key first, and (not the blue setup icon), this will unzip and you will see a gold ACTIVATE key and YELLOW logo/setup icon.

SECOND:

Now follow the directions by selecting the yellow SETUP icon first/install... then select the gold ACTIVATE key.

This will prevent users from asking "Why isn't this program registering?"

Had I not done this, I would have walked away thinking MagicScore Note 7 had activated correctly.

NOTE: The GOTD site said I was activated, when in reality the program had not been registered.

When corret: You know how to verify this when in the program, click on Help, then About...there in the lower left corner it will say: Registered to Giveawayoftheday.

I hope this helps many, as I have been helped by many users (espcially Ashraf) here in the past.

Thank you all for the helpful comments!

May God continue to bless you.

While the previous Magic School 6 giveaway works fine, I was having trouble with volume levels in Magic Note 7 using XP. I kept finding the volume dropped to 0, and even when it was normal it often didn't play some of the notes.

I suspect it's the new Music Engine. It may be better for Win7 than XP, or at least not as compatible with some hardware. Fortunately, I still have MS6 installed.

WOW! Nice way to say Thanks for the offer #22 Hanniboy. This is an offer, not a required download. Try not to cuss at GAOTD for offering it.

As far as this software goes, installed fine on XP SP3 system. Not a serious musician, but will enjoy to play around and learn a few things, might help with a loopable tracks I have on file for tutorials, haven't got that deep into it yet.

Thanks again GAOTD and DG :)

Wow!! Thanks GOTD for a teriific offering today. I realize only a
serious musician will be able to use this program and I am thrilled.
Installed flawlessly on XPsp3. Looks to be a very challenging proggie
and it will take days for me to check out all of it's features.
Thanks again as you have made my day!! I needed this and it will
enhance what I do with my Band in a Box program. AWESOME!!

I have used previous versions with no problem. This one loads and registers fine but I can't get the playback sound to be heard. Someway the sound system needs to be activated?

To people like "Hanniboy" and others of his mindset, I would remind them that all of "this" is FREE. A gift. If you don't like the offerings, you are FREE to Unsubscribe and are, in fact, encouraged to do so by those of us less-Holier-than-Thou who appreciate what GOTD does.

I would also encourage those who typically have difficulty downloading GOTD's offerings to read the "Readme" file before doing anything else. Once I started doing that, all of my download issues disappeared.
