The inability to change the size of the window causes me to lose the right side of the program screen which cuts out the click button required to change shapes. I have 6 wide screens on 2 TH2G's and I would have to change the screen resolution to see all the program page. But, as long as I want the bird shape I'm good to go. Like most times I end up trying the free alternatives every one adds to their review. This time it was Shape Collage which seems to work fine.

I have tried Photo Collage Studio, Shape Collage and this one. Each has unique feature, like loads of collage templates, powerful output (PSD) and extremely easy to use, respectively.

BTW, Picasa also provides decent collage making tool to image and HTML page. So many collage maker out there, thanks.

I'm getting the same issue as comment #16 using Win 7 64bit. Part of the right panel is cut off including the part where the base image shape is selected. None of the available image shapes are displayed or selectable even though the image library is accessible using the graphic library manager. I have unsuccessfully tried to resolve this in different WinXP compatibility modes.

When I execute the program the right side of the options panel is cut off and no way to expand it! Couldn’t get my own shape to show after I created it, but maybe there is something in the cut-off area that I’m supposed to select???

Great program! I'm very surprised how this program can create a collage in less than a few clicks. Within roughly 2 minutes, I created 4 collages, with hi-def and extremely good quality.

For those who are looking for different output formats, just use another program to convert the JPG collage image into other formats. Such programs include Pixillion Image Converter. (Google it)

Merril, the kind of software you're looking for is a mosaic maker, which this program obviously isn't. If that's your thing, I've been playing with a great free one found at http://www.sixdots.de/mosaik/en/index.php Thanks to Ashraf for including the link in his review of today's program, Foto-Mosaik-Edda is great!

I'm with Merril too. I thought I was missing something. This is really all it does? I can make a bird or a paw (or 4 other rathe lame clip art shapes) out of my pictures.. which are resized so small that I can't even tell what they are? I can't think of any time I would consider this useful in any way.
....off to find the uninstall button...

It goes from -5 to -6 because you are refreshing the counter and other people may have voted down while you were reading. Well that's what I think happens.

Thanks for this download - it works fine.

Also thanks for the tip on the freeware Shape Collage - it actually seems quite a bit better to me - especially since Shape Collage will output a psd file into Photoshop with every image in the collage set as a separate layer which makes fine tuning the final image extremely easy.

The program, as stated previously, very buggy, I installed on Windows XP Pro SP3 and the shapes for the collage do not show where they are supposed to apart from about a half a centimetre, making it impossible to see and difficult to choose one. When closing the program, it does not ask if you want to save your project before closing, a minor but irritating problem for a commercial program. I have emailed the vendors and will post their reply here should I receive one within the 24 hours.

To follow on from what I was saying in giving the software a rather bad review earlier, one nice touch is that you can create your own doodles and drawings to be turned into a collage. So, for instance, you can write your name freehand or draw pictures and the software will turn that into an image that you can save to its "graphic library" to be turned into collages as you wish.

You can also write your own text in various fonts and turn that into collages too. You can also choose things like shadow, image borders and even the maximum rotation of the images that you will allow. You can even add a picture of your choice as a background to the picture.

I do feel I was perhaps rather hasty with my negativity earlier on. Whilst still priced very high and whilst offering a somewhat limited choice of options, it is more feature rich than I initially portrayed and whilst I said that I could not think of many (any) uses, this would be a nice way of creating, for instance, a personalised greetings card with a personal picture behind the receipient's name in collage of their favourite images.

I also found it to be buggy in that the graphic "shapes" do not show apart from about half a centimetre,on the right of the graphic shapes window, making it very difficult to use.
I have posted an email to the developers and will post the reply "if" I receive an answer before this offer ends. I might add that repairing or re installing was of no help either.

I was excited about this software - have you ever seen a picture of Elvis, for instance, and his face is made up of hundreds of other photos of Elvis, arranged so painstakingly well that the result is flawless with the highlights and lowlights of his face portrayed by the contrast of hundreds of other tiny photos of him that capture the depth of the picture accordingly? I've seen jigsaws of this. Well that's what I expected this software to do. No such thing.

Firstly, the software used for installing the program is very outdated, characterised with a cartoon picture of a computer that is typical clip-art from the late 80s/early 90s at the latest. This would be all very well but to enter the license key for today's giveaway you have to go into the program and the installation does not ask you if you want to go into the program nor does it take you there by default, once installation is over it closes completely and you have to find the program yourself and re-open it up. From there it is even quite tricky finding the part that you enter the license key provided in the "Read Me" section, you have to click "Register" and then choose something about entering the key on the Internet that will allow you to copy and paste the code into the box, if you choose the offline mode it will not work.

Back to Elvis - rather than this software create a picture from thousands of other pictures arranged according to their shade to create a new picture, the software merely lets you import pictures and then choose a shape - lo and behold the pictures are minimised until you can no longer see what they are and are repeated over and over and over to form the shape of your choice; from an aeroplane to a sprig of holly, the choice is yours. Rather than have you sat there for hours arranging one picture into a shape yourself, overlapped by other pictures if you wish, the software does it for you - although I genuinely cannot think of many times that this would be wanted and for a $30 price tag I find it quite incredible.

I'm sorry to be so harsh, the program is lightweight at just 1.80MB and perhaps children would have fun seeing their picture in tiny arranged over and over and over until it creates a circle (seriously) - but I suspect that even they would bore of this quickly. $30 is extortionate, laughable even, for what the program does, which I know is a harsh thing to say but I personally find it disappointing, although I thank the developer and the site for giving me the opportunity to test it for free.

Review:
Smooth download, installation, registration on Win-7 (32-bit) OS. However, that's where the good news ends for me. The program generated a "special exception handling" error message when I clicked on the "Help File" link. Also, the mouse cursor froze/hung for 3 minutes (when clicking the "add picture") button, before the WIN picture folders appeared. Running the program using "Vista-compatibility" & "Run As Administrator" modes did not solve the problem - so I uninstalled the program asap.

On the positive side - I can personally vouch for (and recommend) the Shape Collage program that Ashraf lists in his review. This program is easy to use, it offers many nice edit features, and it produces good-quality collages. I've been using it for awhile now, and am very happy with it - so give it a try, you have nothing to lose.

An alternate freeware option (for your consideration):

SmileBox Program
Please note: You'll need to sign up for the SmileBox online service (creating an account is 100% free), then choosing between 2 different levels of service usage (free & paid). The free service is somewhat limited - it displays ads, and allows you to create/email collages (and other designs) to others. The paid service allows you to print, burn-to-DVD, and incorporate additional features, for a monthly suscription fee. I've been using this progam for awhile now, and it produces excellent collages. If you don't mind signing up for a free Smilebox account, looking at ads (for the Free Usage Service), then this program may serve your needs.

After using this for a while, I have to say that although it's pretty, it's very buggy. A few graphical artefacts, options that don't work and a messed up UI on my system make it hard for me to use.

One annoying issue is that when adding a folder of pictures, it doesn't seem to have any option for adding all subfolders with it, so you have to add each subfolder manually.

Nice little program! Couldn't be any more simple to use. Had a collage made in less than 5 minutes just by trying all the available options. Decent output size for web pages. Will have to experiment for print output. Definitely keeping this one in the graphics arsenal. Thanks GOTD!

Choose the automatic registration option and paste the serial code given!

(If you try the manual 'offline' registration, you have to put the hardware code generated and the serial code into the webpage quoted and your email address, then find the license code file when it is emailed to you using the program- ouch!)

Very nice easy to use program, within 15 minutes I made a collage of 50 photos of our pets and another consisting of 60 photos of horse riding equipment which would make a eye catching picture for the front cover of a catalogue or web page. Output options of JPEG or PNG is no problem as easy enough to open completed image in graphics program and output in any desired format, there can’t be many programs that do not accept JPEG images. Would be nice to be able to drag and drop images but is easy enough to select multiple images for transfer in one go by just holding Ctrl and right click to highlight. All in all a simple program to use with no unnecessary bells and whistles, which are available in any decent graphics program anyway.

Hello... This is a very interesting and easy to use little program for making shape collages !
What I like most about magic collage is that you can import your own shapes into the program.
I had no issues installing or activating it. It is working fine here: Windows Vista Ultimate 64x SP2.
It is going to be a nice addition to my collection. Thanks a lot !

Very simple app, not really a lot to do except load in one image and then see it multiplied in smaller pics in the shape that you specify. I can't see much use for such an app unless you can print out the end product in very high resolution. No uninstaller present in the start menu, I had to go to add/remover programs to uninstall it. Not a keeper for me.

The Good
* Straightforward and easy to use.
* Users can create pictures collages of graphics or text.
* Users can use the handful of graphics that come with the program or draw/import their own.
* Various different settings of collages can be controlled by the user, such as individual picture size, amount of pictures used, picture shadow, collage background color, etc.
* Users can view a "live preview" of the collage as they create it.

The Bad
* Extremely memory inefficient.
* Can only output collages as JPG or PNG - lacks support for other popular image formats like GIF and BMP.
* Program window is not resizeable.
