I wonder if anyone had the same problem as me. The screensaver worked great for one week then stopped working and of course the free download period is over. Makes me think that this free screensaver was just a one week sample of what I can buy...

I installed this on my XP and under administrator, in Vista. Really beautiful.Love the watch detail and the floating leaves. I like the sound, but you have to disable it if listening to music.
Thanks for this

Hi:
I had no problems with finding the link and downloading, running the application. It's quite impressive - watching the opaque leaf float over the watch. You can see the watch through the veining of the leaf. Very soothing. I just wish I could increase the number of leaves that float by and the maybe the rate. Thank you for this offering, GAOTD, it's very cool to watch!

I always enjoy screensavers from 3PlaneSoft! I had a few 3PS screensavers when GOTD offered them WAY back when, but I had to re-install my OS (for other reasons) and I lost the screensavers. :(

It would be great if GOTD would offer some more 3PlaneSoft screensavers! They are truly the best screensavers I've ever seen!!!

Sorry, I meant 16/9 in my comment above. Someone were complaining, that it did'n't fit his widescreen.

It's possible to make this screensaver fit 19/9 format in settings. The watch is very nice, but it swollows a lot of cpu

I downloaded this at 11:30 it wasn't registered so I downloaded it again and it still wouldn't register, I ran preview to see if it even mattered and I liked it a lot,the clock said 11:44pm. So I tried again, this time from the site based on some comments. No luck there either. So, I guess I lose out. I want it but right now I really don't want to pay for a screen saver I need so many more important things. so I guess I lost out because my time ran out.

By the way, I have a wide screen monitor and the only thing I noticed that was off, was it didn't extend to the edges, but that didn't bother me. The leaf floating down and other objects appeared just as they should, it looked very real. CKO

Double checked the setting for the wide screen monitor issue.
There is a setting for "Monitor aspect ratio" which is different than "video mode selection".
Autodetect does what I said it would do, displays the 4:3 image at its correct aspect ratio, and displays the overlay in its correct widescreen format, so sprites like the leaves travel over the black pillars.
If you select 4:3 for the monitor aspect ratio the background image will be stretched horizontally to fill the screen, so the watch looks like it is squashed. Overlay fills screen correctly.
If you select 16:10 the background image is cropped so you loose part of the top and bottom of the image. Overlay fills screen correctly.

As noted, the Autodetect Aspect Ratio isn't functioning properly. It does appear to detect and set the correct aspect ratio, it just isn't adjusting all of the screensaver's internal settings correctly (it's obvious if you pay attention to the rendering).

There is some interesting and useful information in \Windows\System32\The Lost Watch.log (read carefully).

I like some of 3Planesoft's true 3D screensavers much better, such as Ancient Castle 3D, Haunted House 3D, Lighthouse Point 3D, Western Railway 3D, etc.

Regarding the same dreary complaints about screensavers, you can run them standalone, they're fully compatible with Windows Power Management, some LCDs are prone to image retention (not permanent), and plasma displays still burn-in images (most shift the image around to reduce burn-in).

If it doesn't display correctly, that's your video drivers. By the way, has anyone gotten the November DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer to work successfully? It always fails for me; earlier editions installed successfully.

I have Vista Ultimate 64 and ran activate, as admin first, then setup, also run as admin.

Found the following:

1. Program will not register. Program is not worth anything if it cannot be registered.

2. Program will not run on secondary screen nor blank out secondary monitor.

3. Program won't auto detect correctly. I did find setting 16:10 does works on main screen for my wide-screen monitor.

These problems need to be addressed if a company wants to sell a product. The screen saver does look very good on the main monitor.

Would look really great if it didn't have the annoying habit of putting the picture in 3/4 of the screen over the top of a full screen and continually flashing off to a full screen picture. Too hard to watch, don't know how to fix this....

Downloaded and installed it just now, and they fixed the download. It now has the Lost Watch screensaver, not the Watermill screensaver. Installed without any other problems, and looks great on my monitor. Also, did not need to install the offered manager in order to get it to download, as stated in the 10th comment, but that could be part of the fix.

Guess they fixed the download. I got the clock right away, activated no trouble, and I think it is lovely...will be looking at their site for more. The Manager was ok to change the monitor size as well.

I really enjoy the Astro Gemini screensavers that have been Giveaways in the past. They are beautiful, their screensaver manager is excellent allowing you to manage ALL your screensavers, not just AG ones, and the current time is always displayed in the lower right corner of their screensavers.
However, JPlanesoft's Coral Reef screensaver that was a Giveaway in the past, was equal to the AstroGemini screensavers in its beauty and quality.
There are many good freeware screensavers available too.
Some of the most beautiful ones I've found are described below.
http://www.krazydad.com/windows_freebies.php
This is a link where you can get very beautiful TOTALLY FREEWARE kaleidoscopic screensavers. I really like them, there is an ever changing design in the center just like with a kaleidoscope and the background gradually changes colors through the spectrum in a soft way like that of an aurora borealis (northern lights).
These screensavers are more beautiful than you might guess, for example on the second page,
http://www.krazydad.com/freebies2.php
there is a screensaver called "Got Fruit" that is STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL although you wouldn't guess it from the name and description!
Fractal screensaver freeware with weird name, allows you to run beautiful colorful fractal graphic screensavers others have made and also make your own and add it to the electric sheep "flock".

This screensaver is beautiful and relaxing, and the natural sound effects are great. I probably won't use it as a screensaver, but I'll keep it installed just to enjoy it occasionally. I might also add that this is the first screensaver I've installed for years. Congratulations to 3Planesoft's artists - really nice work.

I think the problem is Vista and/or 64bit version.

I have 3 computers at home. 2 with Vista 64 and 1 with XP SP2. The XP PC installed fine and registered to GAOTD. Both PCs running Vista failed to register. Must be a Vista issue.

Downloaded and ran Activate and then Setup just fine. Someone must’ve substituted the correct file because I got the Lost Watch the first time and not the Windmill program.

Problem was when I went to Settings in the Screensave Manager, it says Unregistered Version, Buy Now and Register Here. Something tells me it’s not an activated version. Running Vista Premium 64.
Any suggestions appreciated.

This is a beautiful screensaver, with a clarity that many previous giveaways have lacked. You've got to see it to believe it. Nice one 3Planesoft. Thank you very much and to the Giveaway team, thank you for continuing with the fortnightly screensavers despite the usual opposition to them; they are about the only software I download from here nowadays. :)

In case this doesn't work out for anyone, Magentic (Magentic.com) has a quite similar one. Their wallpaper isn't very impressive (fairly low-res) but they have some very unique screensavers. The gothic clock one is beautiful for winter. Oh, and although it seemed to good to be true, I have had no malware issues from it.

Installed gold watch for me (France, 21h40) but although definition 1280 x 1024 is in the select panel, and despite trying desktop parameters, and unclicking high quality, I still don't have it working correctly - a 2nd smaller image flashing on top of the full-screen image. Pity, I'd like to keep it - just what I need, a large good-looking timepiece with a difference. Any fixes?

I almost didn't download this one after reading the problems folks had with the download, but one person put it simply - download the GOTD file, click on the activate.exe and then go to the website and download the watch.exe file and install that. Viola! It wasn't all that much more difficult than any other download - just a simple little extra step, and boy am I glad I took it!

This is a gorgeous screensaver and, yes, it keeps actual time. Must have been a waterproof watch! *grin* Well worth the download, the little glitch and more!
