Ayman, I uninstalled 64 bit, installed 32 bit from GOTD's zip file, program window comes up and stays up. Upper right says Giveawayoftheday user. Do not see any way to enter license code. Is it already registered?

StudioJoe, Doesn't launch for me either. I have win 7 but only SP1 I tried both 64 and 32 but icon just shows in taskbar, it does nothing. Removing 64-bit leaves .dll's .dat and other files so they had to be removed manually. Also had problem with small popup (needed to be closed) keeping program from reinstalling. Software should at least launch before having to fill out information to get registration code. Waste of mine time.

So you are saying the software appears in the taskbar (as if minimized) and not opening?

Can you try something? Click on the application in the taskbar, then hold the Windows key and press the Up button. This will force it to maximize. This is just an attempt, let me know if it works.

Ayman, no that is NOT what I am saying at all. I click the shortcut to run the software. The software dashboard starts to come up and never goes beyond this

frederic_johnson, Today May 11, 2017 I downloaded the 32-bit version from the author's website and did the, click on the application in the taskbar, then hold the Windows key and press the Up button and it worked. I then used the serial from GOTD and it worked. Can't wait to try it.

If I have only one email address :) and I use two different software of kotobee on two different computers and systems, or lets say more for example I have 10 computers and 10 versions of kotobee programs, then I have to use a 10 different email addresses? If You don't see the issue, pass it to software programmers, for them it should be very obvious. Just think about Adobe, their different versions of software and Your only one email address.

If you want a license that handles multiple users and multiple machines we do provide that. But you'll need to purchase it.
The giveaway is for the basic license of Kotobee Author. You can not have 2 basic licenses of Kotobee Author for the single user. Only one. Either you can give up the older license, or go into gmail create a new account in less than 3 min, and have another license along with the old one.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense, but it's what the current behaviour is.

Appreciate that feedback. Note that our software should not be communicating with those sites. GOTD people, is this something related to you?

And let me know if it is still doing the same thing. The software should only communicate with our domain (kotobee.com) to validate your serial. The serial is like a login code basically. Also there is a feedback widget we're using (from freshdesk) to allow you to request technical support from inside the software. I believe this widget is cloud-based and needs to do some internet communication to link with our freshdesk account. Nothing to worry about.

Excellent suggestions by the way. Do you mind sending them to support@kotobee.com? They will be marked as feature requests.

I am running the Kotobee program not a browser. My firewall tells me that the Kotobee program is requesting the outbound connection to these other sites. No other program is requesting a connection to those sites.

It is your program that is requesting access to those other sites. My main concern is to make sure that your program is not harvesting any of my data and sending it elsewhere. I'm sure you will assure me that it isn't, but I would expect that you would know what sites your program was communicating with and why.
To help I have Googled 151.101.0.207 and it belongs to newrelic.com So maybe you know what service you have with them ? It seems the bam-4.nr-data.net etc addresses are also related to newrelic.com - so quite a lot is happening with whatever app you have from them.
It looks as though your program (or part of it) is running as a 'browser" - hence maybe why all the calls to external websites?

Yes it runs a webkit instance, which you can consider a browser inside the software. I have just checked now, and these are the URLs called at startup:

Yes if it's running a webkit then that explains a lot.
I have now blocked access to https://s3.amazonaws.com by kotobee author, which stops all the freshdesk functionality (and all the requests to access the other sites) and the program works fine (just no "I need help" functionality).
Note I did see a reference to 'newrelic.com' on the freshdesk website, so no doubt that is where the request to access that site (151.101.0.207, bam-4.nr-data.net etc) was coming from.

For anyone reading this and having no idea what we are talking about - the program is safe to use and is not stealing your data.

Bebop177, actually as mentioned below in another comment, when you install the software the installer gives you the option to choose the installation location. So I would say this is beyond the scope of Kotobee Author.

The DOCX you export must be opened in Microsoft Word only. It won't be able to open in anything else, like LibreOffice, OpenOffice, or even Google Docs. It's a limitation. You can open it in Word and save as any other format (even standard docx that would work on all).

Did you try opening it with Microsoft Word? Just try. Had plenty of those examples that open empty in other software, but show the content in Word.

Ayman, Word Perfect 5.1 is a format almost all other software knows. If you output that you will have more flexibility.

adif, Sorry but are you a troll or something? Or don't you maybe not know how to read install screens. literally, the first screen after the startup screen gives you the install path and the option to browse to any path of your choosing.

btw, This is very normal for installers and has nothing to do with the developer of the program but with the install wizard used. Even the default windows installers (msi) often will point to the (x86) target location

LFOD, well the EPUB format exported is for EPUB 3, since it contains interactivity. However you can export many other formats too, like web apps, desktop apps, and chrome apps.

LFOD, where did you read that? It's not only compatible for epub3. You can also export to Kindle, PDF, Word or as a stand-alone Desktop app or Web app.

Ajay Rawat, Every single piece of software you are able to get on this site (same for games) is a fully legal version, in fact some of the developers go the extra mile and respond to questions asked here by the community (thank you Ayman), fixes for problems found here are sometimes released the same day in a new GOTD even.
