I noticed in the system requirements that Windows 10 is not listed.

One of the absolute most useful programs on my computer.
I use many external hard drives for storing files,
and about a year ago the program showed a hard drive with bad sectors.
Then I discovered that the cord into that drive wasn´t properly connected (after searching the Net for problems).
Since I got this information from the Sentinel software at an early stage, I could replace the files affected by the bad sectors, and with no later problems with that external drive.

This is a great piece of software, which enables you to easily check on the health of your hard disk and is constantly monitoring that health. I have it on another laptop, and it will occasionally give me an audible alert that the laptop is beginning to overheat, and I can respond appropriately. It's wonderful that it's both a lifetime version and pre-registered so you don't have to jump through any of those annoying e-mail stages. Many thanks.

This is such a useful program. But a couple of months ago I stopped using it because I got tired of seeing the poor health rating of my HDD -- it was depressing. Failure was imminent, like knowing you're about to fail a major test. I switched to a much larger SSD and am now once again greatly enjoying seeing "Performance: Excellent" and "Health: Excellent" on my screen! Hard Disk Sentinel is the crystal ball that always predicts the future with accuracy.

I've used this program in the past and been satisfied. However, this version, for whatever reason, is showing my Brother printer as a hard drive. No big deal but thought, if they're monitoring this site, they would like to know.

Just like the previous version that was available on giveawayoftheday: a great piece of software, beautifully designed and very useful. Don't miss it!

I have previous version 5.7 from GOTD. Can I install this overt-top of that or should I uninstall it first.

Reply   |   Comment by rww  –  11 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

rww, 6.01 installed over 5.7 on my machine with no issues. Can't say that's always the case with other programs here though. Only problem with the software is that it can't determine the status of thumb drives.

Hi rww! :-)

I had hdsentinel running and launched the setup: it closed the program and reinstalled it over the previous one, in the same folder.

Yeahhh! ;-)

rww,

Same question; also what is the difference between version 5.61 and version 6.01? Looked all over the site and can't seem to find that info.

If it is only things added for newer systems I will keep the one I have. Using Win 7 Pro on this particular machine.

Sure hope they are monitoring the comments section and reply to us.

Great piece of software and have been using it since 2016. If you don't have it please get it, you will be happy!

rww, you can install over it. It detects the previous install path and installs it there.

rww, I just installed without uninstalling first. Worked fine. Hurry up!

rww, I had that giveaway too and it installed on top of the previous one just fine.

I have used this program for years. It warned me that my HDD was failing with bad sectors and I could replace it before I lost my data. I would not be without this program. I have the Pro version, which I won years ago so I have no need to download this version.

theoldfarter, Just ran across this sweet site.. downloaded HD Sentinel and am running various tests on some of my many drives, HDD's and NVME's... I only have a few 2.5" SSD's but am collecting more and more NVMe drives. With PCIe adaptors, I can run 3 at full Gen 4 speeds in my two X570 PCIe $ motherboards. I have had this program before, but now I remember how good it is. I will probably take advantage of the nice discount and get the pro version for 5 PC's (I have 7, lol...) for a mere $33 or so!

theoldfarter, Yes, I have had similar experiences with this program. The repair functions of marking bad sectors are also very useful.

Recently the updates for Windows 10 have been removing some of my programs, especially GAoTD programs. So glad to get this one back. I'm going to buy it so I don't lose it again!

Anita Simpson, Windows 11 suffers from a weird bug that messes with SATA SSDs and hard drives https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/windows-11-suffers-from-a-weird-bug-that-messes-with-sata-ssds-and-hard-drives/ar-AA1brcZq?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=1822184c567a47ee9b4eeeae689f095a&ei=16

HD Sentinel is my goto disk monitoring tool. Been using it for years and it has saved me from lost data due to HD and SSD crashes. It's part of my essential toolkit.

I'm having little problem of setting up Email configuration in Hard Disk eSntinel 6.01
From Help file info of HD Sentinel
On this page, the user can configure the settings needed to deliver an e-mail message. The required settings are:

Sender name: this will be displayed as sender (for example, name of the user of the computer).

Sender e-mail: e-mail address of the sender (for example, e-mail address of the user of the computer).

SMTP server: name or IP address of the SMTP server to use.

Recipient e-mail: e-mail address of the recipient who will read the problem/status e-mails (for example, the administrator). It is possible to enter two or more addresses, separated by comma (,)

Port: if the SMTP server does not use the standard port (25), this can be specified here.

Username, Password: if authentication is required when sending an e-amil (it is required for many Internet Service Providers), these information can be configured here. If there is no need to authenticate, please leave these fields empty. It is possible to enable use SSL and TLS (STARTTLS) if required for the connection. For configuration of sending e-mail via gmail account, port 465 or 587 with Enable SSL option is required.

In the Mail account field it is possible to choose a previously configured Outlook or Outlook Express mail account. If an account is selected, the sender name, e-mail address, the SMTP server and the username (if needed) fields will be automatically filled, regarding the settings of the mail account. This way the recipient e-mail address is required only - and the password if authentication is required (for security reasons, the password field is not filled automatically).

Note: it is possible that not all defined mail accounts are displayed.

Note: after setting all options, it is recommended to use the Mail test button to test the configuration or to reveal possible e-mail delivery problems.
