Great program - I've used it in the past on other computers. I like it so much that I bought the full, updateable version just now. There's even a coupon.

Superb piece of software, given away before multiple times and always praised.
Thank you for the new higher version.
Whoever is happy should consider purchasing license to support the developers.

One of the best utilities ever. I've used the (paid) pro version (family pack excellent value) on all my computers for over a decade. Several times its warned me of an HDD getting too hot (e.g., I forgot to turn on the table fan to cool an external drive). Author keeps the program advancing and is VERY responsive to questions. Also works for SSD's. Great configuration options - I keep the status window on my desktop so I can see temps and health at a glance. I can vouch that the paid license is lifetime. I'm paranoid, but even if you're not, this is a program to HAVE on your computers.

Under Vista (which formally does NOT support TRIM) this reports on an SSD drive that

"Operating System TRIM Function: Supported, Disabled"

Under Vista/Server 2008 and earlier the Operating Systems do not support the TRIM function at the Operating System level. It has to be implemented at custom driver level which is virtually non-existent. Only workaround I have found is to create a windows 10 WinPE environment with command line defrag and optimisation support built in and to manually boot to the WinPE and in an admin command prompt to trigger a manual optimisation of SSD drives. Then reboot back into the older version of windows.

Maybe Janos can explain why they think Vista has OS level TRIM support and how to enable it? Or properly detect OS level TRIM support with all supported versions of Windows right back to Windows 95! Which by the executables settings suggest it won't run under Windows 95,98 or ME as it's linked to require at least Windows NT 4.0 not NT 0.0 which would be required to be loadable under pre-NT versions of windows.

As a long-time user of Hard Disk Sentinel, I purchased the PRO Family license which I am very pleased I did. Its an excellent application. The support from Hard Disk Sentinel is fantastic. I highly recommend purchasing.

Great program....a while back it notified me that one of my external drives was in critical condition. Moved all my stuff to a different drive in time. I figured out what was wrong and saved the drive. As a precaution I use it for temporary and non important stuff which also lightens the load on my good drive.

Thank you so much for offering it again!!!

A very good app, though I'd stress that the S.M.A.R.T. data hard disks / SSDs record, & Hard Disk Sentinel reports, will *Always* give you advanced warning of a problem. It is worth checking S.M.A.R.T. data from time to time, just like it's worth getting today's GOTD, but if you want to be safe, backup. As useful as it's reporting of S.M.A.R.T. data is Hard Disk Sentinel's temp monitoring. Hard disks & SSDs error more frequently & can fail if their temp is too high -- NVMe drives in particular can self throttle if temps get too high. 3.5" conventional hard disks & NVMe drives typically need active cooling, e.g., a fan, though you *might* get away using just a heatsink with cooler running NVMe drives -- how hot they get varies by model. If you miss today's GOTD or want something a bit lighter weight the free Crystal Disk Info is available as a small portable app.

mike, S.M.A.R.T. reports events that HAVE HAPPENED so is not a predictor of failure but a report of ongoing failure that you *might* be able to recover data from but there is no guarantee. The only predictors of data loss likelihood are things like high operating temperature due to improper cooling and electrical connection errors UDMA errors and so on but the rest reporting the operation of the storage media, by the time anything significant is reported data loss has probably already happened and it's too late. S.M.A.R.T. is no panacea and not a replacement for sensible backup regimes.

Program was pre-activated; so easy to install.

Ran program and everything looked excellent.

This program gives me a sense of well being because my computer is old, Windows 7 and that was back when hard drives were large.

Thank you GOTD ~!!

This is an excellent program, easy to use. Hard Disk Sentinel saved me a few years back when it indicated the health was poor. I was able to move data to another drive, a week later the drive died. A great program!

Excellent program. I've owned the pro edition (now up to 6.01) for years, now. It's still developed/supported by the author with periodic updates, and it [has] also cautioned me about ailing drives in the past. If it saves you, even once, it's more than paid for itself.

Having lost data from regular HD and SSD crashes Hard Disk Sentinel is an essential piece of software in my PC health toolkit. It's notified me of failing disks before failure to give me time to copy and replace the drive before any data is lost. Highly recommended!

shegeek72, I came down to the comments section to say just this. You've stated it perfectly. HDS has also provided me with ample warning about failing disks and it a great program to keep handy.
