I found if you click on the setup file again the program will come up and show as registered. Very unusual way to start the program.

The giveaway is portable, i.e. it does not install. You just run Setup.exe each time you want to use it.
The first time you choose the language: for most of us English. Then enter the key, provided in the readme. Next time, just run Setup.exe.
It does not use the normal account keys of your Gmail accounts, but an App password. If you do not have one, the programme helps you get it.
Once you have logged in to your Gmail account, you can select the folder you are interested in. Normally, I save the mail in folders regarding the projects I am working on. Then select the items you want to export to Excel, and off you go. It skips doubles automatically.

Thanks, I had already realized that running SETUP again would open the program and that it had not setup anything on the laptop. So I assumed it was a portable app, it wast the SETUP name that confused me.
I have now placed it in my PORTABLE folder and renamed the SETUP.exe to Gmailxtractor.exe and created a shortcut to it. It's useful to extract and keep / share Gmail contacts but this odd behavior and lack of response from the developers worries me slightly.

Yes, I had same problem. I registered before actually inputting gmail and google password. I am wary about the whole thing since there are 20 ups and yet only people comment, with no solution to the stated problem. I've never ever had a problem with anything from GOTD in over 15 years of using, so everything is probably all good. Still, I think I am going to look for any change on laptop after I ran the program and delete. I might be too paranoid, but...

I got stuck on step 3 as On the ‘Signing in to Google’ panel, choose App passwords, there is no option to choose App passwords. Disappointing as this would have come in handy.

setup.exe is a 64-bit executable so will not work in any 32-bit edition of Windows Vista to Windows 10

TK, on the vendors website they have both 32-bit and 64-bit installers BUT the 32-bit installer throws an error under 32-bit Vista looking for a dll that was introduced in windows 8 and I believe could be installed under windows 7 as an additional API framework but is not compatible with Vista. The DLL is required by the python310.dll used by the bespoke installers python script based technology.

I've run SETUP.EXE and registered, but once I close the app - WHERE IS IT?
No icon on desktop, nothing in "Installed Apps", searching for GmailExtractor finds no .exe or anything (just the downloaded files and links to them).

Elayne Beneford, the program is portable. Run setup.exe. Enter the key you find in the readme, activate the program and exit it. When you start setup.ex e the next time, you will see it is activated.
